Providing the Support You Need In Choosing Your Child's Future Help and Support for Pregnant Women

Hi. I wanted to write you a special note, just from me. When I was 20, I became a birth mom. I, at that time, was not able to provide the kind of home for my child that I would have wanted and that she deserved.

Placing my daughter with an adoptive couple was the hardest thing that I had ever done, but at the same time, I also felt peace with my decision. I knew that by providing an adoption plan for my daughter, I was doing the best for her. I had a semi-open adoption, and was able to pick and meet the couple who would become her parents. Through the years, I received letters and pictures as she grew up. I got to meet her again when she was 10 years old. Today, I continue to be in contact with her, from time to time. As a birth mom, I understand the importance of your desire to have ongoing contact with the adoptive family that you have chosen to become the parents of your child. We want to assure you that we will follow through with our commitments regarding agreed-to contact.

I do not presume to know what your feelings are; I have been where you are now, considering adoption for your baby. I also wanted to tell you that there is life and hope after adoption. You can flourish and have a positive future. That is what I wish for you.
