Adoptive parents, Steve and Nicole

Dear Birthmother,

As an infertile couple, we knew from the very beginning that we would build our family through adoption. We met at church and were friends for several years, then romance blossomed! Our marriage is based on a Steve and Nicole on vacation in Athensmutual faith and deep friendship. We truly cherish our family time together. One of our passions is travel, and we would absolutely love sharing such a wonderful experience with our child or children. We're already discussing various age-appropriate family trips we'd like to take in the future!

About Nicole, by Steve
Nicole is an absolutely wonderful person who enjoys life and cherishes our relationship. Not a day goes by that she doesn't tell me she loves me. Her favorite pastime is curling up with a good book! Love of reading definitely helped her pursue a master's degree and a career in teaching. Nicole teaching Sunday schoolShe currently works from home, teaching middle and high school students through on-line classes. This is very important to us since we don't want to put our children in day care. Nicole enjoys teaching children and preschoolers through our weekly church programs as well. Music is another favorite hobby---she plays piano and organ and also sings for our church.

About Steve, by Nicole
Steve is quite simply the kindest man I've ever known. He has an amazing sense of humor Steve having fun playing basketballand a warm and gentle spirit---and a smile that lights up an entire room! Steve is a supervising lieutenant for a small law enforcement agency, and enjoys meeting people and working to help others. He earned his master's degree several years ago and hopes to begin his PhD soon. He is a former athlete and enjoys sports and computer games and is a huge movie buff! He serves as a deacon in our church and also works with Sunday School. He is someone I am proud to call my husband, and our love grows stronger each day.

About Our Family
We've been blessed with loving, stable families. Nicole's parents were married for 41 years before her mom passed away in 2006. Her father, grandmother and huge extended family of aunts, uncles and cousins live Steve's family at a reuniona few states away. We visit them several times a year (and we love those road trips!). Steve's parents have been married for over 45 years. We live very close to Steve's parents, brother, sister-in-law and our teenage niece and nephew, and we all gather at least twice a week for family dinners. Both of our families are eagerly waiting for a new addition to ours!

About Our Pets
We are owned by two rescued mix-breed Siamese cats, Scotty and Cocoa. Scotty is large and sweet, and Cocoa is tiny and sweet! Scotty is very shy and hides around strangers, but Cocoa is absolutely fascinated by visitors, especially small children. She will often "show off" for them by playing with toys she otherwise ignores!

Home in FloridaAbout Our Home and Neighborhood
We live in a 3-bedroom, 2-bath house in a quiet subdivision that was once a pecan grove for a Florida plantation. Our large fenced back yard has camellias and azaleas as well as a fig tree and pear tree. There is plenty of room for a swing set, sand box, tree house and toys! A large pecan tree graces the front yard. Our neighborhood is a middle-class, mixed race community with a blend of young families and older retirees. It is a quiet area where local children trick-or-treat in large groups at Halloween and play in and out of adjoining front yards during the summer.

Our Views on Education
We both hold master's degrees, and education is extremely important to us. We want to offer our child the best opportunities available. We are zoned for an A-rated elementary school just down the road, but our community also offers some excellent faith-based private schools as well. We would encourage our child to pursue a college education and make sure he or she has the financial means to do so.

Our Views on Faith
As mentioned earlier, we are both Christians and faith forms the core of our lives. We want to instill the same values in our children that our families instilled in us. We look forward to teaching and nurturing our children to grow in faith through attending church from their earliest days. Our church family is happily waiting to meet its newest nursery member!
