Dear Birthmother,
I've always wanted to be a parent, whether biologically or through adoption. I knew I wanted to finish school, (including law school), get established in my career, and meet my prince charming, and have children. Three out of the five have been accomplished and I'm proud of what I've done in my 40 years. I haven't met prince charming yet, but I know he is in my future. As for children, I am so ready to be a parent and prepared to take on the challenge of single parenthood. I've reached that time in my life where I am prepared to rearrange my priorities and focus on my personal life and create my new future with my family.
About Me
I grew up as a "military brat." I spent almost 10 years of my childhood in Europe which included attending a Belgian school for three years where I learned to speak, read, and write French. The remainder of my military life was living on both coasts of the United States. Eventually, my family settled in California, although I still have family and very close friends on the east coast.
My mother is French and thus half of my extended family lives in France. Generally, we visit my relatives overseas every other year or so. My brother and sister are twins and only 15 months younger than myself, so we are very close--so much so my mother frequently reminds us that she pretty much raised triplets! My father, who originally hails from Philadelphia, is happily retired from the Air Force and working in investments.
I have been in the United States Navy for 9 years serving as a Judge Advocate General (JAG). It is the most rewarding and challenging job I have ever had. I love the Navy and love serving my country. Nonetheless, at the end of this tour, I will leave the Navy for a job that keeps me close to home and family, but hope to remain in the reserves. Having my siblings and parents nearby will be such a fun and stabilizing experience, I can hardly wait!
My Pets
My precious Sadie has been in my life since 2001. I adopted her from the Virginia Beach SPCA. She was one year old then and full of energy. She is my constant companion. She has since embraced my two newest additions to the family: Sidney and Sammy, my two cats. Sammy came from the Reno SPCA and Sidney was saved from the streets in Sacramento by my sister. All have a warm, comfortable, affectionate, and fun-filled home.
My Home
I bought my home last February. It is a three bedroom, two bath home with a nice sized yard and two car garage. I am truly a homebody who loves to putter around with home improvement projects to make my home reflect my taste and need for comfort. I've become a little expert on some projects as this is my fourth home since being in the military. My house is located is a nice, 10-year old development (newer, but still established neighborhood). It is on a quiet, clean street.
My Hobbies
Travel is a favorite passion, whether short-distance or to some far-off country. I recently visited the Sequoia National Park with Sadie. We both loved the hikes and clean air! I love to travel anywhere that allows me to take Sadie with me: parks, mountains, beaches. Every other year, I travel to France to visit family. Other hobbies include reading, cooking, and shopping.
My Spirituality
I am born and raised Catholic, but with my nomadic childhood, I never really attached to a church. I consider myself more spiritual than a learned member of an organized church. I live the way I'd want to be treated: respectfully, compassionately, without stereotypical or judgmental prejudices, family focused and community-caring. I want my child to know his or her faith, to adhere to its teachings, and aspire to be a better person at every turn.
Thank you for considering me among the many other deserving parents.
