Help With Pregnancy Expenses and More

Lisa contacted Lifetime to get information about placing her baby for adoption. She was homeless and did not want her baby to grow up as she did. Now, she had additional pregnancy-related expenses and did not know what to do. Her Lifetime coordinator let her know that in the state of Nevada, pregnancy-related expenses may be handled by the adopting parents. In Nevada, the adoptive parents may pay the medical and other living expenses related to the birth of a child as long as the payment is not contingent upon the birth parent’s placement of the child for adoption or consent to the adoption of the child.

Starting the Adoption Process

Have you decided adoption is the right choice for you and now want to know how to get started? Just fill out our short online application. You will not be charged a fee to apply, and you will not be obligated to move forward in any way. Your application will be reviewed, and once pre-approved, you will meet with a Lifetime Adoption coordinator who will go over the whole adoption process. You will be given access to our private membership site, where you can access a vast amount of adoption education. Your coordinator will also guide you on the creation of your personal profile that birth mothers will view. Referrals for your home study and adoption attorney will also be provided. Since 1986 Lifetime Adoption coordinators have been successfully matching birth parents with adoptive families. Mardie Caldwell created Lifetime due to her experience with the adoption of her son and the things she learned along her adoption journey.

Adoption Laws in Nevada

Nevada adoption laws must be followed, and all legal paperwork filed so you will have an adoption attorney referred to you by your coordinator.

In Nevada, the timeline for legal documentation for adoption is as follows.

In general, the written consent of the birth mother cannot be signed until at least 72 hours after the baby is born birth. Rely on your Nevada adoption attorney for all the legal details.

Nevada Home Studies

A home study is a legal document that is required by every state, which shows your ability to parent and care for a child. Your Lifetime coordinator will recommend a qualified Nevada home study provider.

With a home study, be prepared to provide the following along with other documentation:

A written application
A copy of your fingerprints
An interview and assessment with the home study professional
A home visit to confirm the home is suitable
A review of any reports or investigations regarding the abuse or neglect of a child by the adoptive family or any member of the household who is 18 or older
A review of any State and Federal records of criminal history member of the adoptive family’s household who is age 18 or older
A review of at least five references from people who have known the adoptive family for no less than two years, with no more than two of the references being from family members
A medical report of the adoptive family
Review of records regarding marriage, divorce, and the death of a spouse
