Lifetime Adoption is always thrilled to see adoption in portrayed in the media in a positive light. In the most recent issue of People magazine, an adoption foundation called AdoptTogether was featured. AdoptTogether is a website where hopeful adoptive parents can raise money for their adoption through crowdfunding. Adoptive parents are able to request their friends and family to help them offset the costs of adopting.
In the People magazine article Meet the Man Who Has Helped 2,100 Families (and Counting!) Afford Adoption: ‘Every Child Deserves a Family’, AdoptTogether’s Founder Hank Fortener shares his personal story and background with adoption. His parents had a foster son who was lost to the system, and it made him decide that he wanted to protect as many kids as he could when he grew up. He founded AdoptTogether because so many people were asking him how his parents were able to afford the adoption of 8 children and provide a foster home to 36 others. Currently, his website AdoptTogether has helped over 2,000 adoptive couples and individuals adopt children in need. Learn more about how you can utilize his crowdfunding platform to afford your adoption over at AdoptTogether.org.
Adoption awareness means celebrating adoption and giving thanks for the blessings of adoption. Did you know that 3 out 5 people in the US are touched by adoption in some way? Even if you haven’t been involved with adoption, you probably know someone who has been. Lifetime strives to remember those who are daily blessed by adoption, and those who make adoption possible. Choosing adoption is an affirming way for women to provide a future for her child, while at the same time allowing adoptive parents to build the family of their dreams.
Have you been wondering, “what exactly is crowdfunding?” Crowdfunding means that people can fund a venture or project by raising small amounts of money from a large amount of people, using the Internet. It requires the unified effort of your friends, family, co-workers, and acquaintances. This approach uses the shared efforts of a large group of individuals—mainly online through social media and crowdfunding sites—and takes advantage of everyone’s networks to get bigger reach and exposure.
