You may recall that last week we shared the second step to take for a successful adoption, and that’s to learn the costs of adoption so that you can prepare financially.
So here is the third step to a successful adoption: interview adoption professionals. The requirements involved the different types of adoption do vary. For example, in a domestic, private adoption you will be required to have a home study. The fees involved with a home study will vary depending upon what state you live in, so that’s good info to have before you begin your adoption journey.
When you interview adoption professionals, make sure that you ask them information BEFORE paying ANY fees, including application fees. Check their listing with the Better Business Bureau (BBB) and ask them to speak to their referrals. At Lifetime Adoption, we can connect you with adoptive couples who have adopted through us. This is a great way for you to get an idea of what to expect! Next week we will share the fourth step to a successful adoption.
