Hello! Thanks for taking a glimpse into our lives. Having walked through adoption before, with our daughter’s birth mother, we know there’s a lot to think about. We are grateful to be considered as the family for your precious child! We are dedicated to giving all our love to your child in welcoming them into our family.
As we sit to create this profile, our hearts are pounding with excitement and emotions, mostly because we know exactly how much lives can change because of open adoption. We adopted our daughter, Joy, almost four years ago and all our lives have been changed forever in an amazing, joyful way. If you’re comfortable, it would be great to talk and get to know each other, as we prepare to to share a connection with you and your child.
We are proud and happy in the life we share together and want so much to expand our family. We are excited about our decision to adopt a second child. We are fortunate – we both came from stable and loving families who have supported us throughout our lives. We have been married for 8 years and are the better for finding each other. We have been so blessed with our daughter, who has added so much to our family.
Traveling is our absolute favorite thing to do, for so many reasons – to explore beautiful scenery, experience new things, and spend quality time together. But our favorite thing about traveling is learning about different cultures, meeting new people, and expanding our own perspectives, beliefs, and knowledge of the world we live in. We feel strongly about continuing to travel with our child, so we can give them the same opportunities!
My Wife, Cassandra
One of Cassandra’s best qualities is that she is nothing like me, for the most part. Our upbringings were different culturally, economically, and geographically, and her superpower is to make sure that we are a stronger unit because of our differences. She also makes difficult times easier, the easy times sweeter, and she makes me feel like the most loved person in the world. From our marathon first date, to today, I have not regretted a moment in her company. Thus, it is that fact that lets me know how lucky I am to have found her.
Cassandra loves to read and she is always looking for fun activities we can do as a family.
My Husband, Desmond
Desmond is special in every way. He can always make me laugh; I know all I need to feel better is to call or see him. Desmond lights up a room. With him beside me, I have got someone strong, dependable, supportive, and giving. His Caribbean heritage and his militant cleaning routines makes for a great combination. I enjoy restaurant quality meals at home and our home remains show room ready with minimal involvement from me. In short, Desmond is funny, feels at home in the kitchen, and is an equal opportunity house cleaner. He’s even become our go-to home improvement handyman at home! Even when things take time to learn or complete, Desmond’s got a drive and fearlessness that makes him who he is.
Joi lives up to her name everyday. She is always happy and cheerful. From the time she was born she has had a smile on her face and Joy in her heart. She was the best baby, hardly ever fussy, just a ball of sunshine. Her grandparents from both sides insisted on staying with us for months. Joi has been showered with love and affection from the start and she is excited about becoming a big sister. We enjoy sharing pictures with her birth mom when she requests new updates.
Our Home in Pennsylvania
We own a two-story home with 4 bedrooms. It is warm, cozy and sits on .5 acres. Desmond has developed some hidden talents and has become a very capable DIY home improvement specialist. Two summers ago, he began by digging in the front yard and a few months later we had a small garden and a lovely waterfall that attracts the neighborhood kids all summer long. Last summer he completely transformed our fully unfinished garage into a work of art.
We love living where there are so many industries to keep our great city going, including technology, healthcare, medicine, and education. There are great schools, healthcare, and other opportunities right here.
Our Promise to You and Your Child
As parents, we hope to instill confidence in our child and the courage and determination to dream big! We will love and support them no matter what and raise them to be kind and accepting of others. In addition to a warm and loving home, we hope to give them an abundance of experiences and memories!
We admire your thoughtful and careful consideration as you make a decision for your child’s future. We are dedicated to giving our children everything we can. We promise that your child will be loved unconditionally, supported indefinitely, and encouraged beyond words. We will offer your child as many life opportunities as possible and do everything we can to keep them safe, healthy, and happy. And, we promise to always respect and admire you as a truly special part of our family.
Thank you for taking the time to read our letter and learn about our family. We believe it is a huge honor and privilege to become adoptive parents, and we accept our responsibilities to you and your child with the utmost respect and commitment. If you’d like, we will gladly share an open adoption with you, including updates and contact after the adoption.

More About Our Family
3 Fun Facts About How We Met
1. We met on Yahoo Personals in 2009.
2. Our first date lasted 3 times longer than originally planned.
3. Even though we met online, we actually lived less than a mile from each other at the time.
• At dinner, every Friday night we share our happiest moment of the week. It's then written down and added to a jar so that we can revisit them randomly at a later date.
• Thursdays are Desmond's crazy invention night, because he is gifted at making delicious meals from random ingredients.
• Game night is every other Saturday night if we are home.
• We make year-end donations in our Daughter's name, so we can one day tell her that she has been doing good in this world even before she could speak.
Since our families are spread out all across the US and the West Indies, we do a lot of traveling. Family reunions are done in a different city every year to share the hosting duties. The same can be said for Thanksgiving and Christmas. Every few years we plan and execute a family cruise.
Why us? You are looking for a wonderful home and future for your child, and we’re looking to share our love and lives with another child in our family. Perhaps we are looking for each other? Since our amazing first date in New York, we’ve realized that a life together is the path we were meant to take all along. That path has led us here today, to you, and someday to add a child to our family.
As parents, we hope to instill confidence in our child and the courage and determination to dream big! We will love and support them no matter what and raise them to be kind and accepting of others. In addition to a warm and loving home, we hope to give them an abundance of experiences and memories to cherish as part of our family. We would love to get to know you or answer any of your questions!
