We are Maria and Dexter from Massachusetts! We were introduced by a mutual friend, fell in love, and have been married for over 8 wonderful years. We enjoy traveling, gardening, and making home-cooked meals. We are excited to grow our family through adoption and look forward to nurturing, loving, and guiding your child into adulthood.
About Us
We have always wanted to have children together. However, having them biologically was not in our favor. After much reflection and prayer, we knew that God’s path for us was to grow our family through adoption.
Dexter is a father of a wonderful young lady and is thrilled to father again. We enjoy spending time with family and friends. We are passionate about fitness, healthy eating, and maintaining a wholesome lifestyle. We make it a priority to take frequent family vacations. We can’t wait to take that special little someone with us and introduce him/her to wonders, using these experiences to enhance their overall foundation as he/she grows.
We have the most adorable Bichon Frisé—Tisdale, a playful, gentle dog with the perfect temperament.
Education is a priority within our family. We both have achieved masters’ degrees, with Maria achieving her Ph.D. as well. For our child, we plan to start early by taking advantage of our state college savings plan and setting aside money privately. We envision our child being educated in private kindergarten through elementary school, then later switching to public school. Our careers allow flexibility in working from home often. On days away from home, we plan to have a bilingual Nanny.
About Maria
Maria, an Air Force Veteran, is the love of my life, nurturing, patient, empathetic, and loving. When I see her with kids, I’m in awe- she always knows just what to say to make their eyes light up. Maria has the ability to form connections quickly and enjoys finding ways of making others feel loved and special. She enjoys traveling, fitness and gardening, as well as snuggling up with a good book. Maria is looking forward to bonding with our child, reading to them, and as they get older-reading together.
About Dexter
Dexter is an extraordinary husband and father; loyal, loving, gentle and funny—quite the prankster. Dexter completed his undergraduate on a track and field scholarship and continues to enjoy running with friends and coaching high school track/cross-country to this day. Dexter holds the title “Chef of the Family” for always creating what we call restaurant quality meals, especially using herbs and vegetables from our garden. He is excited to take our child out in the jogging stroller, as well as introducing them to new tastes and flavors as he cooks family meals.
Our Family
We truly love and appreciate the roots which we came from. Roots that taught us the value of loving and serving others, working diligently and with passion, pursuing education and maintaining gratitude. Our families reside all over the world, with the majority in Europe, the U.S. and the Caribbean. They love to have fun, laugh and have in-depth conversations. They are ecstatic we are adopting and have already started talking about who our child will visit in which states/ country first. Dexter’s daughter, Nadia, is married and lives in the Caribbean. She is excited about having a younger sibling.
One of our favorite family traditions comes at Christmas when our families from different countries all come together. We bake fruit cakes and pastries, awake at sunrise to make hot Christmas punch, have breakfast, then open gifts together.
Our Abode in Massachusetts
Our home is a Cape Cod-style, open-concept, three-bedroom home within two miles of the beach. It is warm and welcoming with a dining room/kitchen combination, living room and sunroom that exits to a large deck overlooking our backyard that includes a mixture of fruit trees, vegetable beds and gardens. Half of the basement is finished into a stunning ensuite junior-suite and a walkout stone patio. The nursery will be the bedroom next to ours on the main floor. It is cozy and airy with large windows and a custom-built closet.
Our quiet neighborhood is comprised of couples and families with children of all age ranges. Often, there are moms pushing strollers, kids riding bikes and couples walking for exercise. Our neighborhood is host to a plethora of community events to include children focused activities, playgrounds, youth centers, bike-riding paths, water activities, parks, schools, restaurants and medical care.
Our Promise
Thank you for taking the time to learn about us and for considering us for your child. We promise to love your child fiercely and to fill their life with love, fun, exploration, open communication, structure, and guidance. We promise to provide a well-rounded education, continue old and build new family traditions, and share with them their adoption story. We look forward to getting to know you and sharing with you all milestones through letters, photos and visits if you are comfortable.

More About Our Family
Our Special Interests
Gardening: We both love gardening. It is one way we connect with nature. There is a sense of calmness, tranquility, accomplishment, and satisfaction in working the soil and seeing things grow. We like to plant perennials that return year after year. We also experiment with different vegetables and herbs. Eating fruits from the fruit trees we planted and making dishes with vegetables and herbs from our garden is truly fulfilling.
Traveling: We believe in working hard but always finding time for pleasure. We love international exploration as it opens up many opportunities for us to immerse ourselves in other cultures and develop a greater appreciation for all the sweet blessings around us and widen our worldview. One of our favorite things to do on travel is to seek out unique foods, get to know all the hidden gems, and beach hop.
Fitness: We are avid exercisers and truly believe in maintaining a well-rounded and balanced lifestyle. We take full advantage of our well-equipped home gym and enjoy various outdoor activities. Dexter completed his undergraduate on a track and Field scholarship. Hence, he maintains a close association with friends in this area and enjoys being able to coach others.
Our Faith
As a couple, our spirituality is our foundation. We make it through each day, not because of our own might but because we are blessed and have been shown much grace. We have much to be thankful for. Our faith in God is demonstrated each day through our reliance on the word and striving to be an example through our actions to all around us. We truly believe that everyone in creation shares a spiritual connection.
Our Family & Friends
Our families and friends reside all over the world. Social media is our best friend for staying connected. We make time to come together for weekends, summers, and holidays. We love to poke fun, laugh, have in-depth conversations and completely immerse ourselves in the company of each other. Our family and friends are ecstatic that we are adopting. They have already laid claim to summers stating our child will be in a different state or country spending time with them. We know for sure our son or daughter will have an abundance of love poured upon them.
Our Pet
We have the most adorable Bichon Frise. Tisdale is a playful, gentle dog with the perfect temperament. He loves to cuddle and is a great movie-watching companion. We can visualize Tisdale and our child quickly becoming best buddies.
In Closing
Thanks for giving us the opportunity to present why we are a wonderful choice as you make your adoption plans. We see our child’s life filled with the security of love, fun, exploration, open communication, structure, and guidance. We promise to provide a well-rounded education, keep and build family traditions, and keep you informed of all milestones through letters, photos and possible visits.
