Thank you for taking the time to get to know us. We’ve spent our 11 years of marriage in a cozy home filled with love, laughter, and lots of delicious food. We are so excited to bring our first child home through adoption.
Our struggle with infertility has strengthened the bond we share. It made us realize that raising a child is about the bond we develop and the love and joy we share. That’s how we knew adoption was meant for us. Gil was adopted, and Mary has an adopted sister, and we trust God has led our hearts back to this path.
Our hearts are open and ready to love and nurture as first-time parents.
It all began at a Christmas party just over 11 years ago. We sang carols, talked for hours, and have been inseparable ever since.
We’re both creative and (sometimes) nerdy. We enjoy playing Scrabble together, being home chefs and are voracious readers. We love to learn and enjoy being silly sometimes. Gil is the dreamer while Mary is the innovator, and together we make a wonderful team. As parents, Gil will help your child dream big, and Mary will help make that dream happen.
Our relationship is built on trust, the courage to venture outside our comfort zones, and to be each other’s support system, always. We will bring the same dynamic to our parenting. We will give your child every chance to embrace the opportunities of life. There will be joyous times and tough times, and we’ll be there to support and encourage your child through it all.
Gil is truly my shining star that lights up my life. He knows life is precious and tries to live life to the fullest. He’s the backbone of our family and I feel lucky to be married to my best friend.
Gil is a social worker, and people are naturally drawn to his positive vibes, humor, and charisma. He bikes, volunteers, does DIY projects, and likes exploring nature. He also surprises me with creative pancakes every Sunday, a pretty great bonus! Gil is empathetic without making light of things, and he knows when folks need laughter and when they need support. He will be your child’s best advocate and their cheerleader when they need it most.
I know Gil will be a wonderful father because of these remarkable qualities, and of course, his pancake skills!
Mary is my true north and my home. She is curious, tenacious, and stays calm and patient in difficult situations. A grant writer and budget analyst by profession, she’s a natural problem-solver, diving headfirst into challenges rather than stepping back.
Mary can figure out anything through trial and error and YouTube, from knitting and baking techniques to ukulele chords to finance. Mary’s grit, patience, rationality, and willingness to help turn dreams into reality make her so incredibly special. These are some of the many, many reasons I know she will be an excellent mother.
Mary is passionate about reading, and it’s something she is excited to share with your child. She looks forward to reading bedtime stories, teaching your child to swim and fish, cooking delicious meals with ingredients from our garden, and creating arts and crafts with them.
Our Wisconsin Home
From the moment we first saw it, we knew our home was perfect to grow our family. The bedroom next to ours will be a cozy nursery full of the stuffed animals Mary makes. The house itself is large enough for children to grow up comfortably and is within walking distance of excellent schools and colleges.
Our small city is safe, friendly, and surrounded by nature. It’s ranked among the best places to live and raise a family. With easy access to parks and lakes, culture and arts, and child-friendly events, it’s easy to see why.
On Saturdays, we walk or bike to the library or enjoy the area’s natural beauty. And during Wisconsin winters, we enjoy building snowmen and staying warm by the fireplace.
Our Loved Ones
We have an amazingly thoughtful, strong network of family and friends that are generous with their time, love, and attention.
We both come from large, supportive families that cherish our time together. When we’re all together, we sing, dance, and swap recipes, so there’s never a dull moment! Gil’s cheesecake and Mary’s Thanksgiving turkey are always a hit at our family gatherings! Your child will have an enormous support system that includes other adoptees. We’re also incredibly lucky to have friends who feel like family—a few have also adopted children who look forward to playdates.
We look forward to celebrating precious milestones and holidays with your child, creating new traditions together as a family.
We sprinkle our marriage with strength, resilience, joy, and love. We’ll share these with your child and promise to love them wholeheartedly, treasure each moment with them, and guide them toward all the wonders in life. We will cultivate curiosity and creativity and give them every chance to further their education and reach for their dreams, supporting them every step of the way.
Your child will know their adoption story and how it began with your act of love. We would love to learn about your hopes and dreams for you and your child, and if you want to keep in touch, we will honor your level of comfort.

More About Our Family
Fun Things About Us
1: We make our own hummus and crackers. We love to tweak recipes because we can never find all the fancy ingredients in the store.
2: Mary is the financial and tech guru. Gil likes to plan and build things. But he likes Mary to read the instructions.
3: We love the great outdoors. We visit national parks, kayak, and once went ice fishing (we sat for hours in the cold only to fish out a shoe).
4: Gil used to be afraid of heights. We once rode in an air balloon. Gil camped on the floor of the basket while Mary and our friend’s daughter enjoyed the sightseeing from above.
5: We’re super laid back. Life is precious, why not to grab the opportunity to be happy and explore the universe—which is why we so want to adopt: so we can share the good life with a child.
6: We leave 6 blank…so your child can come up with this one as he or she joins us in celebrating life.
We live in the state of…
Wisconsin—home of the Green Bay Packers, Georgia O’Keeffe, and Laura Ingalls Wilder! Wisconsin is known for its cheese, cranberries, and apple orchards (but most people don’t know that ice cream sundaes were invented here!) Our diverse and family-friendly neighborhood is walking distance to school, a library, and 3 parks. Every day, we go for a walk, and we always see kids playing outside and families walking their dogs. Gil has lived in the area since he was a teen, and he knows the local landmarks just as well as he knows the neighbors. It’s a quiet and safe community where people look out for each other. We’re a short drive away from gorgeous parks and lakes, culture and arts, child-friendly events, and—most importantly—outstanding healthcare and schools. With its Midwest hospitality and its scenic drives to watch the changing of the leaves, we are proud to call Wisconsin home!
Holidays, Faith, and Traditions
We cherish the holiday spirit, whether with friends and family or just us. Maybe it’s cheesy, but we believe in the miracle of Christmas, and we hope to create new holiday traditions with your child. In the summer we like to spend time at the lake or travel to new places and learn about different cultures. In the winter, we play in the snow, drink hot cocoa by the fire, play board games and share silly ghost stories. We’d like to invite a new tradition into our life: every night as your child goes to bed, we’ll share what we’re thankful for, beginning with you for giving birth to this bundle of joy and giving us the opportunity to experience the miracle of adoption.
Education and Career
We are fortunate to have stable, successful careers with employers that are very supportive of working parents. As a social worker, Gil helps people in crisis sort out their setbacks. He is responsible and a great provider who works hard to help others in the community and always puts our family first. Mary blends her love of science and the arts as a grant writer and budget analyst. She finds her work very rewarding because of the impact it has on the health of so many children and families. At lunchtime, Gil stops at home for a dose of home cooking. Mary works from home—which is a huge plus!—it allows flexibility for childcare and family time, plus time to whip up homemade bread and muffins in our old oven.
Once again, we want to say thank you for thinking about us as potential parents for your child. We know it’s not easy, and we know that the road to happiness can be paved with setbacks as well as triumphs. We hope to welcome your child into our life. We want to do more than promise to give your child every opportunity to succeed—we want to make it a daily reality! And yes, of course, we’ll ensure that your child will always know that someone intelligent and kind as in you started his or her story. We would love to learn about your hopes and dreams for you and your child.
