Thank you for taking the time to learn more about us and considering us for your child. We both grew up in wonderful, loving, two-parent homes, and are looking forward to sharing that same love, acceptance, and empowerment with your child.
We’re excited to share our home, our many international adventures, and our extended family (both here locally and spread around the world) with your child. We have always felt called to build our family through adoption, and are open to staying in contact through pictures, letters, and visits with you.
We met while Catie was in college and were friends for a few years before we really “noticed” each other. Once we did, it was a whirlwind romance and we were married a year later!
We’ve been blessed by a rich group of friends, a supportive faith-based community, exciting career opportunities, and a loving immediate and extended family. We love to travel, both in the US and abroad. Whether it be days spent at the lake in the summer, fall drives to pumpkin patches or apple orchards, weekend beach getaways to the Caribbean, or family bike rides in the spring, we are so excited to share our favorite places and hobbies with your child while supporting and encouraging them to find their own hobbies and interests.
Catie is one of the most inspiring and empowering women I’ve ever met. She is passionate about leadership, and for work, she leads sales teams at a technology company. She loves helping young people become their best selves, and that has played a big role in how successful she has been climbing the ranks throughout her career. She also loves public speaking and is a frequent guest on sales and leadership podcasts.
Catie loves organizing our extended family vacations and holidays, always making sure they are filled with board games and puzzles and cards. She also loves putting together gatherings of all shapes and sizes, where all our friends feel welcome and loved. She can’t wait to throw the best birthday parties for our son or daughter.
Gustavo comes from a huge, hyper-connected family in Brazil. Throughout our marriage, he has been the ultimate supportive and empowering partner. He is smart and ambitious and has built an incredible career for himself in technology sales.
Gustavo is also a wonderful cook! Our friends marvel at his hand-rolled sushi, his Brazilian feasts, his summer BBQs, but his favorite meal to make is his mom’s homemade lasagna, complete with homemade noodles.
Like so many Brazilians, he grew up playing soccer and is the ultimate soccer fan to this day. He looks forward to being our child’s biggest cheerleader in whatever they do. Be it soccer, little league, ballet, volleyball, or anything else they find interest in!
Our Home in Georgia
While we live a stone’s throw from the heart of our city, our neighborhood feels like a small, walkable community. We love the beautiful tree-lined streets and the fact that there are children playing at every turn. Our house backs up onto a nature preserve, providing ample space for tree-houses and wooded forts. We also have one of the few pools in the neighborhood, making our back yard the local family hot spot all summer long.
Our home has five bedrooms, and the one right next to ours is already starting the transformation to the ultimate, jungle themed baby room. We also have a large basement that will morph into a fantastic playroom and kid zone just waiting to be filled up with toys!
Our Friends & Family
We both grew up extremely connected to our immediate and extended families. While most of Gus’s family is still in Brazil, thanks to technology, we see and talk to them almost every day, and we love spending New Year’s and other special events with his parents and cousins. Catie’s family is a bit closer, and they are everything that you expect a southern family to be, complete with lots of homemade comfort food and long hugs. Both sets of soon-to-be-grandparents are thrilled to welcome our child into the family and are all so excited to be on-call babysitters!
Our golden retriever, Lexi, loves kids, going for walks, and giving loads of love and licks.
Beyond our family, God has blessed us with a group of extremely present friends that we love sharing our lives with. We consider our friends our “chosen family” and we are so grateful for them.
We promise to give them our whole hearts and to love your child in every way possible. We will create a home filled with love, laughter, friends, and family where they feel safe to be themselves yet challenged to become the best version of themselves.
We will teach them to believe that anything is possible and that they can, in fact, change the world.
We promise to parent with kindness and humility, to say we’re sorry when we’re wrong, and to be patient as they learn. And we promise to show them so many amazing parts of this beautiful and diverse world and to empower them to become whoever they decide that they want to be.

More About Our Family
We love to travel
Gus is from Brazil and Catie is from Tennessee but spent five years living in Australia before college, so our love for travel and cultures is a huge part of our lives. We have been blessed to have an opportunity to see so much of the world together since getting married, and are excited to show our child the world! Catie has been to 52 countries (so far!) and Gus isn't far behind.
We both grew up believers and are actively involved in our church. We lead a newlywed small group and love spending time with young couples as they grow in their faith and their marriage. Our greatest hope is that we can be an inspiration and an encouragement to those earlier in their own journey and that we are able to represent the heart of God to them along the way. We plan to raise our child in the church and surrounded by the community.
We love sports
Gus grew up playing soccer and talks about some of his earliest memories involve watching exciting soccer matches with his family. Catie grew up a competitive swimmer and has loved sports for as long as she can remember. We love baseball, football, soccer, and basketball, and already have mini jerseys picked out for our child. Whether it's college sports or professional, we look forward to sharing our love for all things athletic!
We are so excited to meet you and learn more about the hopes and dreams you have for your child. We are happy to answer any questions you have and would love to tell you more about who we are and the type of life we will offer to your child. We look forward to sharing with them our passion for travel and our love for others. We look forward to speaking with you soon!
