Hello! We’re so thankful you’re taking the time to learn about us! We are a goofy, nature-loving couple who loves trying new foods and spending time with good friends. Adopting has always been a dream of ours and we are excited to become first-time parents through adoption. We are open to adopting a child of any race and look forward to getting to know you. We’re grateful to partner with you in this journey and are open to sharing letters, photos, and visits if you choose!

About Us

We met on a mission trip to Peru during college. It was on this trip that we became friends and realized we worked really well together! Our friendship led to dating which led us to get married in August of 2018.

Even during our dating days, we talked about our desire to adopt! It was a dream we both shared and we are excited to be pursuing adoption as the first means to grow our family. We spend much of our time with kids from our church since Josiah works as a pastor. We love spending game nights, park days, and dinner table silliness with those kids and their families, and we look forward to experiencing those things in our own family!

About Josiah

Hard-working, deep-thinking, and fun-loving. These three things help paint a picture of who Josiah is. Josiah LOVES to learn and spends his free time exploring new topics and hobbies. Some of his favorite hobbies are coffee making, DIY home projects, and hiking! He’s a great teacher and loves to share his knowledge and skills when he’s learned something new. Josiah works as a youth pastor so I have a “front-row seat” to see what he will be like as a dad. Our youth group students love his goofiness and are always laughing whenever Josiah is around. I’ve also seen Josiah’s patience and compassion when he interacts with a student going through a tough time. He’s a great listener and gives wise advice. I know he will be the same way as a father and he is so excited to shower your child with love.

About Mackenzie

Mackenzie is an incredibly “others” focused individual. She is always looking for opportunities to meet someone else’s needs. She enjoys writing children’s resources for our church and is an amazing teacher. In her free time, Mackenzie will try to find any excuse to be outside enjoying fresh air! Walking, hiking, gardening, and floral arranging are some of her favorite hobbies. She also enjoys trying new recipes, mentoring girls in our youth group, and making people feel welcome in our home. In everything she does, she leaves a lasting impression because of her love, compassion, and encouragement. Mackenzie has had the heart of a mother since the day I met her, and I look forward to watching her shower your child with the same love and compassion I see her display to others.

Our Family

We were both raised in Christian families that now live within driving distance from us! Mackenzie has 4 sisters and Josiah has 1 sister and 2 brothers. Each year, we spend Thanksgiving with Josiah’s family in Tennessee. Josiah grew up in Georgia so time spent with his family always includes delicious southern cooking. Each Christmas is spent with Mackenzie’s family in Ohio. Our favorite Christmas tradition is starting Christmas morning with a “waffle bar” breakfast and then opening presents as a family.

Everyone in our family has been excited for us to adopt as this will be the first grandchild/niece/nephew for our family. They look forward to showering your child with love and welcoming them into the family!

Our Home in Ohio

Our home is in a great neighborhood with lots of sidewalks for walking and parks where kids can play. One of the things we love most about our neighborhood is the diversity of people and cultures! It’s important to us to have people in our lives who have different experiences or a different skin color than our own. We value the things we’ve learned from people whose experiences are different from ours and look forward to sharing those experiences with our child and learning about different cultures together!

We have 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms in our home. We’re close to a city that has amazing parks, art museums, and science centers with children’s programs. We love hosting and when people come over they can always expect a delicious meal, hot tea or coffee, and lots of love and snuggles from our bulldog, Stella.

Our Promise

We promise to love your child unconditionally. We promise to be parents that provide a home where laughter, love, and listening ears will always be found. We promise to raise your child in a Christ-centered home, give them access to a great education, and provide them with every opportunity to pursue their hopes and dreams. We promise to always speak highly of you to our child and to maintain contact with you through photos, letters, and visits if you choose.

More About Our Family

Our Special Interests

Josiah loves to make and consume coffee! His coffee brewing process involves a scale, calculator, and timer, all in an effort to achieve "the perfect cup." In his college days, Josiah was a backpacking instructor in the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina. He loves to hike and will always prefer the mountains to the beach.

One of Mackenzie's favorite things is being outside. Hiking, camping, going on walks, and visiting parks are some of her favorite ways to spend her free time. When she needs to unwind from a long day, a cup of tea and a good book or movie is her favorite way to relax. In college, Mackenzie was a vocal music major and now enjoys singing in church and at home with Josiah. She looks forward to singing to and with her children one day!

Our Faith

We are both Christians and are very involved in our church. Our faith is central in our lives. We believe in Jesus and try to be more like Him by serving, loving, and showing compassion to others.

Our Musical Interest

Music is a constant in our lives and is nearly always playing in our home! Mackenzie was a vocal music major in college and Josiah is a self-taught piano and guitar player. It's not uncommon for us to break into song together or have music playing in the background most of the day. Some of our favorite artists are Jon Bellion, Ben Rector, Tori Kelley, Ella Fitzgerald, Josh Garrells, and John Legend.

About Our Home

We live in a 3 bedroom, 2 bath ranch home that we love! During the Winter, our favorite feature of our home is our fireplace because it makes our house cozy and warm. During the Summer, we love our sliding glass doors that allow for fresh air to fill our home. We have a great back yard with a big, beautiful maple tree that provides shade in the Summer and colorful leaves in the Fall!

In Closing

Thank you for taking the time to get to know us as a family. Adoption has always been a desire of ours, and we are so excited to become parents who will share our love and faith with your child. We promise to provide a home that will always be a safe, supportive, and comforting place to be. We are open to texts, phone calls, and visits and look forward to developing a relationship with you soon!
