Hello from beautiful Tennessee!

We have always wanted a large family. We have 3 incredible children and have long hoped adoption would be a part of our family’s story. Together we run a small medical clinic where we can serve our community and have flexibility to be with our kids. We look forward to welcoming a boy or girl of any race into our Christian family and loving and encouraging him or her to be everything the Lord has intended them to be!

Our Story

We are college sweethearts who met through a co-ed college fraternity. We hit it off immediately and have been together ever since! We’ve been happily married for about 17 years. We have always had a heart for adoption and have long hoped to grow our family this way!

We enjoy:
• Traveling locally and abroad
• Trying new restaurants
• Big family vacations to the beach, skiing, or Disney
• Leading our children’s Scout troops together
• Camping and hiking
• Movie or game nights with the kids
• Getting dressed up for a date night to a Broadway show at the local theater

About Kathleen

My favorite thing on a weekend is time with my family. (I like movie and game nights as much as our children do!) I enjoy working with Matt at our clinic, and I love being a nurse. I was actually a Labor & Delivery Nurse until Matt got out of the Navy and we opened our practice. Now I’m the manager for our business, although serving moms and newborns as a nurse will always be my first love. I enjoy baking, reading, and crocheting blankets or animaguri (stuffed toys).

Matt says Kathleen is kind, organized, & empathetic.

She is a great planner who loves taking care of others. Motherhood comes naturally to Kathleen! She is also an incredible baker who can make beautiful cakes and the most amazing brownies (her own secret recipe!). Kathleen is currently teaching our daughter, Anna Grace, all about cake decorating.

About Matt

My weekends are typically spent with Kathleen and the kids, enjoying anything from games or movies, to hikes and sports. I really enjoy hiking, camping, reading, and playing video games. I also volunteer with other military veterans to help people in need or to rebuild after disaster. I am a Family Medicine Physician, which means I care for people of all ages. I love getting to know my patients and learning their stories.

Kathleen says Matt is laid back, smart, kind, & patient.

Matt always inspires us to be our best. As a dad, he is a great role model, generous, and kind. He loves being outdoors, especially to teach our children practical skills. He also enjoys helping his dad with the cows or to cut hay at their farm, taking our dog for a walk, and coaching lacrosse.

Our Children

Caleb is 12, Anna Grace is 9, and Patrick is 6. They are excited to welcome a brother or sister to our family! Caleb is a great big brother, who loves lacrosse, camping, hiking, reading, robotics, and video games. Anna Grace is our sweet social butterfly, with a kind and determined heart, who enjoys soccer, reading, running, and all things animals. Patrick is energetic, happy-go-lucky, and gives the best hugs; he loves keeping up with his older siblings, playing outside, reading, and video games.

As a family, we cheer for each other at the kids’ sporting events, enjoy dinner with the grandparents, and travel a few times a year. We stay involved with the kids’ activities and volunteer in their classrooms. Our children attend great private schools here and thrive in the small classroom environment.

Our Families

Both sets of our parents have been married over 40 years! We each have a younger sister, and LOTS of aunts, uncles, and cousins. Huge family holidays are the best! Most of our family lives locally or within a few hours’ drive; Matt’s side is all in Tennessee, and Kathleen’s family is mostly in the Carolinas.

Our Home in Tennessee

We live in the mountains near parks, trails, and camping grounds, as well as restaurants, the theater, museums, and other family friendly activities. Matt grew up here, and his parents still live on their farm nearby. Our 5 bedroom house has an open floor plan with a playroom. We live on the edge of the woods, with a farm behind us with cattle and donkeys. In the winter, we can see the river from our front porch! We have a fenced-in yard with a fire pit and a custom-built swing set our parents planned for the kids. Once we adopt, we’ll convert the guest room into a nursery.

Our Dog: We have a sweet dog who is wonderful with children. Jasmine, our German Shorthaired Pointer, is the perfect mix of energetic and cuddly. She’s always up for a hike or a snuggle on the couch!

Our Promise

We believe in kindness, faith, respect, confidence, empathy, and a strong work ethic. We are honest with our children and teach them to be responsible for their actions. We will teach your child about God’s love, as well as how to become an independent individual who can cook, do laundry, change a tire, and appreciate family. As parents, we promise to love and cherish your child, and to raise him or her to be the very best version of themselves. We will encourage his or her passions and provide educational and emotional support to pursue their goals. Your child will always know they can depend on us.

Your child will grow up knowing how special you are to us, and we will speak of you and our family’s adoption story with love. If you’d like, we would love to get to know you and share an open adoption, with letters, photos, phone calls, or occasional visits.

We’d love to talk with you! To contact us, please call or text Lifetime at 1.800.923.6784.

Thoughtfully, Matt & Kathleen

More About Our Family

Our Family Business

We own a local medical practice. Everyone in town loves Dr. Matt! We love serving our community, and because of how our clinic is set up, Kathleen can work from home, with flexible hours, or bring our kids with her to the office, when they aren’t in school. Our work gives us the opportunity to help others and still be present for our children.

Family Traditions

We love our annual Christmas Eve Party where we decorate cookies, get dressed up, eat homemade finger foods, open matching PJ’s, watch church as a family, and sing-along to Christmas carols. At Fourth of July we have a pool party; for Easter we hunt eggs and ride bikes with cousins. We enjoy family tailgate parties for Clemson football games, and taking big beach trips with all the aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Fun Fact About Us

Kathleen: I tend to be very shy at first, but once I get to know someone I will talk their ear off!
Matt: Technology just comes easily for me. Kathleen jokes that I am a ‘technopath’ because I can walk into the room and it just seems to fix itself.

Why we love living here in Tennessee

We live in the same place where Matt grew up! We're close to his family, to the great schools where he was raised, and not a long drive from Kathleen's family in the Carolinas. We enjoy the beautiful outdoors here, the small-town feel, and our community.

In Closing

We have a happy, loving home and room in our hearts and family to add a child through adoption. We value faith, kindness, respect, and togetherness, and we'd be honored to share our lives with your child. If you'd like, it would be good to get to know you more, as well as to find out what you hope for your baby's future. Thank you for considering us as you make plans for your child!
