Thank you for taking the time to read about us! We are so grateful and excited to grow our family through adoption. We believe in God’s perfect timing, and we feel his calling to be parents. We look forward to sharing our love of sports, food, learning and travel with a child or children. We are also excited to provide a loving, encouraging home where a little one can grow, play and be loved unconditionally.

As you read more about us, we are praying for you and your baby.

Enviamos mucho amor.

About Us

Scott grew up in Illinois on a farm and Gene is Puerto Rican, speaks Spanish and comes from an Army family. While we had different upbringings, education was a priority for both our families and it is something we look forward to passing on to a child or children.

Our favorite time of the day is when we get home from work in the evenings and can spend time together. We enjoy eating Gene’s wonderful cooking, walking our dogs, watching TV and going to the movies. When we have time off we love to travel, visit new places and experience new adventures.

When it comes to the holidays, we love Christmas! On Christmas Eve, after church, we change into holiday pajamas, drink milk and eat cookies while watching Christmas movies. Our favorites are Christmas Vacation, Love Actually and It’s a Wonderful Life. We are excited to share these traditions and make new ones with a child.

About Gene in Scott’s Words…

When I first met Gene she made me laugh and she hasn’t stopped since. At least once a day, she says or does something so funny that it reminds me all over again why I fell in love with her.

Gene loves to cook – so much so, that we host monthly dinner or holiday parties for our friends. I can honestly say that her desserts are the best. She makes dinner time fun and lively in our home by turning on music, singing and dancing as she cooks.

Gene is outgoing and caring. I love the way she includes everyone in dinner conversations by sharing stories and asking others to do the same. She will make an amazing mom. She is fun, encouraging and fills our home with music, laughter, dancing and fun. I know she is excited to include your baby in all our traditions.

About Scott in Gene’s words…

On our first date, the thing that attracted me to Scott the most was his soft-spoken nature and his attentive listening. He really wanted to get to know me, asked lots of questions and listened to what I had to say. That is exactly who he is – patient, thoughtful and loving.

Scott loves kids and despite not having any of our own, for the past 20 years he has been a basketball coach for several high school teams. Many of his former players are still his friends. He truly leaves a positive impact on the students and fellow coaches.

We both love to travel but it is Scott who is always planning our getaways. Wherever we go, he always makes it a point to attend a sporting event. While he likes watching games in person and on TV, he loves playing golf. I know that Scott will make an amazing, caring dad who shares his love of travel and sports.

Home Sweet Home in Indiana

Three years ago, we built our dream home in a lovely Indiana neighborhood with walking and biking trails, playgrounds and swimming pools. It’s the perfect neighborhood for walking our friendly dogs – Petey, Benny and Lola – and for relaxing on long summer days by the pool. Our dogs love children and are sure to offer plenty of cuddles, kisses and tail wags!

Our home has three bedrooms and a wooded backyard. We have lots of wildlife in the woods nearby – eagles, hawks and even rabbits. We live in one of Indiana’s best school districts. We are only 30 minutes away from a zoo and children’s museum.

Our Family

Scott’s parents have a home in Indiana and another In Florida. They split their time between the two homes. Gene’s mother and 100-year-old grandmother live in Georgia. We typically spend Christmas day with Scott’s family in Indiana and join Gene’s family for a Thanksgiving feast of American and Puerto Rican food. Despite the distance, we see our families often and video chat or talk regularly.

Both sides of the family are excited to welcome your child. Scott’s parents are active in the lives of their grandchildren and are excited to share their passion for family projects as well as look forward to cheering your child on at all sporting events. Gene’s mother crochets and her grandmother sews. They both enjoy making sweaters and clothes for all their grandchildren and are excited to do the same for the newest member of the family.

Our Promise

We promise to love your baby, nurture them and provide a caring, accepting home for them to call their own. We promise to provide them with a great education and to support them as they make their dreams come true. We have already filled the baby room with lots of books for bedtime reading and we promise foster a love of reading and telling stories. We will share with them our passion for travel, adventure and fun. We promise to fill our home with laughter, music, family, friends and most importantly lots and lots of love.

We would love to include you in our lives through photos, letters and visits.

More About Our Family

Our Life at Home

We love to spend time together — whether that's going out to eat and to the movies or just staying in and watching TV. Also, our neighborhood has awesome biking trails. So, we like to hop on our bikes to take leisurely rides though our neighborhood. We have lots of beautiful walking trails that wind through the woods and our dogs love to go on long slow walks where they can sniff all the smells and meet other dogs along the way. They are super friendly and love to get petted by all the neighborhood children.

Our Strong Faith

Gene was raised Catholic. Scott was raised Baptist. We now attend a Christian church not far from our new home. We like to go to the services on Saturday evening and then have a lovely dinner our nearby restaurants after service. Faith plays an important role in both our lives. During challenging times, we lean on prayer to help us through.

Our Musical Interest

We love going to concerts. We've seen Tim McGraw and Faith Hill, Kenny Chesney, Old Dominion, Keith Urban and Kelsea Ballerini in concert. But we also love Bruno Mars, Justin Timberlake, The Weeknd, Rachel Platten, Taylor Swift and Lady Gaga. So, I guess you can say our music tastes range. We recently started taking ballroom dance classes and we like to practice at home. We will definitely share our love of music and dancing with a child or children. It's something that is always present in our home — music. We can't wait to have fun family dance parties in our living room.

Our Indiana Home

We were lucky enough to build our home and moved in three years ago. It has three bedrooms and plenty of room to grow. In fact, our plan is to eventually finish our basement with an added bedroom, playroom, gym and a cozy place for the family to watch movies. Spring, summer and fall, when the weather is nice, we sit on our back patio where we watch TV and grill burgers while we listen to the birds in the woods behind our home. We get to see lots of wildlife visiting the creek that runs through those woods.
