A Letter from Dwight & Cathy
Hello and thank you for allowing us to tell you a little bit about ourselves. We are a family of four excited to welcome your child with open arms and surround them with a loving and supportive home. We look forward to sharing our passions with your child and to loving and raising them according to God’s plan. Thank you for considering us!
We met in college and, after almost 20 years of marriage, we are still living out the greatest love story ever. Our marriage is based on mutual respect, friendship, and love. We have been blessed with 2 children, Darius (15) and Lauren (13). We are a Christian family and hold our faith in God close to our hearts. We value family time spent together and we also like to have fun. We often go to concerts, nice restaurants, and cooking classes. As a family, we love hanging out at sporting events, going to the movies, taking our dog for walks, attending and hosting family get-togethers, and of course vacations. We have so much love to offer to your child and look forward to making so many memories together as a family.
If there are two words to describe Dwight, they would be “integrity” and “adventure-seeker”. Dwight works hard as a provider for our family and also has a lot of hobbies that he enjoys. He loves the adventures in life, from skiing and hiking to zip lining and learning how to fly a plane. He is certified to operate a sailboat and a speed boat and being out on the water is his happy place. He loves superhero movies and comic books, is a great dad and a positive male role model for our children. When he is not reading comic books, he can often be found reading books to advance his understanding of topics from winemaking to science and education.
If there are two words to describe Cathy, they would be “fun” and “passionate”. Cathy is a great mom and is always stay up to date on the latest trends in fashion and music to keep up with our teenage kids. She is that mom who can be found dancing down the aisles of the grocery store to the latest pop song. She is a wonderful provider for our family and is a great role model. She loves going to the gym for yoga and kickboxing class, taking our dog for a walk through the neighborhood and chatting with neighbors while getting fresh air. Sipping a cup of coffee or tea on the porch is how she prefers to spend a nice day. She is an amazing organizer and keeps everything together at home, including healthy meals for the family and an organized environment.
We have two wonderful children, Darius, who is 15, and Lauren who is 13. Darius loves to play video games, hang with his friends, play sports with his school and participates in Boy Scouts. Lauren loves taking dance classes, participating in Girl Scouts and enjoys playing the viola in her school orchestra. They are both thrilled to have a little sibling to share their passions with.
Our families are very close and are thrilled for our adoption. We do every holiday together and see our families quite often for birthdays, summer cookouts, and to celebrate life’s accomplishments. Our biggest celebrations are on Thanksgiving and Christmas when we got together and share in fun traditions. Our families look forward to sharing our traditions and so much more with your child.
We live in a 4-bedroom single family home that is nestled on a private lot in the suburbs. Our home is surrounded by nature and has so many trees on the property that you can hear the birds chirping. We have a big backyard with a tree house for playing, a deck for cookouts, and a back porch with rocking chairs. We also have a large basement space that has been turned into an entertainment area. Our home has lots of room for birthday parties, hobbies, games, and so much more. We even have an exercise room and living space for family movie night.
We promise to love your child unconditionally and to share with them their story. We promise to provide your child with a safe and loving home where they will be showered with love, support, and encouragement. We will provide them with resources to fulfill their dreams and educational goals. We look forward to remaining in touch with you and to sharing letters, photo, and occasional visits.

More About Our Family
We are a fun, energetic couple, experienced in parenting, committed to living our lives according to Christian principles. As a couple, we try to enjoy life by both taking it easy with lazing days on the porch and by seizing opportunities to grow which keeps us busy sometimes. We teach our children to have balance in their lives but also push them to be their very best. We adore family, have a great extended family network, and cannot wait to grow our family with another child to love.
About My Husband Dwight
Dwight is a wonderful husband, an amazing father, a loving provider, and just an amazing person overall. He takes his role as a husband and dad seriously and is a great example of discipline, hard work, and perseverance. He values education and has dedicated his career to helping young people advance in technical fields. He also has a fun side to him. He loves to read comic books and binge watch Netflix. He also loves the adventures in life, from skiing to hiking, to ziplining, to learning how to fly a plane. He is certified to operate a sailboat and a speed boat. Being out on the water is his happy place. These are the things I love about him. Never a dull moment. He is always looking for something new to learn. Because he loves to learn, he is looking forward to being a positive role model for another son or daughter.
About My Wife Cathy
Cathy is an outstanding mother. She believes that her role as a mom is her biggest and most important job in life. She has her great career but puts her family first by ensuring the house and the kids are taken care of. This means that we eat dinner together as a family every night and the kids' day-to-day activities are managed. She has volunteered at their school for several positions and serves as a Girl Scout Leader for our daughter’s troop. Because she is a mom at heart, Cathy is looking forward to simply raising more kids, loving them, nurturing them, and caring for them.
Cathy also likes to take care of herself physically and spiritually. She likes shopping for herself and feels good when she looks nice. She loves going to the gym to relax in a yoga class or to stay fit in a kickboxing class. She also likes to walk the dog and chat with the neighbors while getting fresh air. Sipping a cup of coffee or tea on the porch is how she prefers to spend a nice day. At night, she loves romantic comedies and just chilling on the couch watching movies.
Darius (15) is our first child. We prayed to become parents and God blessed us with an amazing son. He has always been a good kid. He has always been a sweet and kind little guy. He is a good-hearted teenager who is a good big brother to his sister. He is also responsible for helping out around the house. He loves to play video games and hang with his friends. He plays sports with his school and participates in Boy Scouts to gain leadership and outdoor skills. He is a very good student with aspirations of attending college.
Lauren (13) was our second child. After experiencing the joys of parenting a boy, we were also blessed with the joys of having a girl. We had so much fun with dress up, princess parties, and dolls. Now, Lauren loves taking dance classes and participating in Girl Scouts. She plays the viola in her school orchestra. She is a very good student and participates in many school academic-based activities. She is a caring person and loves to help with her new little cousin.
Our home is in a suburb of Maryland within a short drive to major cities filled with cultural activities and sporting events. Our town has no shortage of playgrounds, walking trails, lakes, and parks to enjoy nature and get fresh air. We also have major shopping malls, movie theaters, skating rinks and many dining options to enjoy a family day out. We also have some of the best schools in the country. Our home is a single-family home with four bedrooms, a basement, and a large fenced backyard. We have a front porch as well as a back porch because we enjoy sitting outside listening to the birds in the wooded area surrounding us. Our neighbors are culturally diverse and we have annual block parties a few times a year where the kids and the adults can have fun outside. We are ready to make room in our home and hearts so we can add to the fun that life is all about.
We both have our family members living close by and rely on them for support. They are very supportive of us adopting a new child into our family. We do every holiday together and see them quite often for birthdays, summer cookouts, and to celebrate life’s accomplishments. Our biggest celebrations are Thanksgiving when we have our annual family talent show and Christmas when we attend church together and later sing the Twelve Days of Christmas off-key as we exchange gifts.
We have very close relationships with our siblings who are wonderful aunts. We currently have a total of four nieces and four nephews ranging from nine months old to college age. There is plenty of love in our family and lots of kids to play with. We are also close to our parents so there are two grandmothers (Nana) and one grandfather (Papa) to love your child. Our families are both so loving and accepting of our decision to adopt. We have family members who have gone through the same process of adoption so we are all open to extending the family through the love of adoption.
We were both raised in Christian homes and value our relationship with Jesus. We both have served in several ministries over the years and believe that giving back is what God calls us to do. We believe that God has been good to us and that he has a plan for our lives. We also teach our children to have faith in God’s plan for their lives. They read the bible and pray when they seek God’s advice. We will raise your child in a home with the same Christian values.
