Hello! We feel so honored that you’re taking the time to learn about us. We are very excited that God has opened doors for us to adopt our first child! We look forward to creating new family traditions and making memories with your child. We promise to provide a home filled with love, laughter and faith. We can’t wait to learn more about you!

Our Story

We met at a church college retreat: Sam climbing the side of a steep mountain and Jolene hoping he would come down to hang out! We dated for three years full of laughter and goofiness. We have been married for 16 years and are overjoyed to become first-time parents through adoption!

We enjoy:
– exploring forest roads to see nature
– working on projects together
– walking our dog, Wiley, at the end of the day
– traveling and making memories
– serving at our church in the children’s ministry or leading a marriage class
– game nights and bonfires with friends

We are excited to make memories with your child and include them in our adventures!

About Jolene

Jolene is a teacher by trade and supervises a preschool. She supports the teacher’s efforts to prepare the children for kindergarten. She loves to just go hang out in the class with the kids!

Sam says: Jolene is an incredible partner, my best friend, and the greatest gift God has ever given me. The most amazing thing about her is her endless capacity to love and forgive. She brings love, light, and laughter everywhere she goes. Anyone who spends time with her feels better about themselves.

Jolene likes:
– helping children learn
– listening to music and singing along
– watching movies
– creating art

She’s excited to teach your child to read, create art, and to spread joy throughout this world! I know she will be their greatest advocate as they navigate life.

About Sam

Sam is a mechanical engineer. He designs agriculture equipment which allows him to be analytical yet creative at work!

Jolene says: Sam is a thoughtful, hardworking man with strong principles and values. Sam was born with Spina Bifida and has never allowed that to be an excuse to hold him back. He has amazing perseverance and endurance. Sam never gives up!

Sam likes:
– working with his hands
– experimenting with grilling and cooking recipes
– telling jokes and stories
– reading and writing stories

Sam is looking forward to teaching his creative handiwork to our child. Sam has such a kind and serving heart to share!

Our Home in Washington

Our 3-bedroom home is in a great family neighborhood. In the evenings, there are always kids playing outside and people walking or riding bikes. We’ve worked hard to prepare a nursery and the rest of our home for a child. Our sunny fenced backyard will be great for water fun and snowball fights! The covered patio will be great for summer BBQs and bonfires!

Our Family

Both sides of our family are very excited for us to adopt. They’ve prayed for us since we began our journey to becoming parents.

They look forward to:
– reading books, especially Bible stories
– sharing a love for animals and nature
– teaching about gardening
– retelling family stories

Some of our family members live as close as 10 minutes away, while others live as far away as California and Washington D.C. No matter the distance, we work hard to maintain those relationships. We’ve also developed strong friendships with values-driven people who can’t wait to be a part of your child’s life.

Our Promise

We promise that your child will grow up to know that they are worthy, and are loved and accepted by God, by us and by you. We will teach your child to love people and help them at every opportunity. We’re looking forward to helping them love learning and to recognize failures as opportunities to grow. There will never be a shortage of laughter and hugs! Thank you for taking the time to get to know us. We hope to hear from you soon!

With love,

Sam and Jolene

Why We Want to Adopt

Jolene had a family friend growing up who adopted 2 babies from China and since that time, she has wanted to adopt. Before getting married, we talked about having a family. Not knowing if that was going to be possible, we discussed our options--adoption was a possible way for us to have a family. Several years after being married, we walked down different paths to expand our family. God has lead us to the path of adoption and we are excited to see what He has planned!

Our Dog

Wiley is our goofy mixed breed dog who loves tummy rubs and giving kisses. He enjoys our time in the mountains exploring and is always excited when we find snow!

We promise that your child will know their story and that they are deeply loved. We look forward to sharing pictures, letters and are open to visits!
