The Story of Moses – Exodus 2:1-10
Moses’ story of adoption in the Bible is remarkable. When his mother could no longer hide him safely, she placed him in a basket among the reeds of the Nile. Pharaoh’s daughter found him; her heart moved with compassion when she heard him crying. Though she knew he was a Hebrew baby, she chose to adopt him as her own son.
Even more beautifully, Moses’ own mother nursed and cared for him in his early years before he went to live in the palace. This child, saved from death and adopted into royalty, grew up to become the faithful servant God used to deliver His people from slavery in Egypt. God’s plans for adopted children are always magnificent.
The Story of Esther – Esther 2:7
“Mordecai had a cousin named Hadassah, whom he had brought up because she had neither father nor mother. This young woman, who was also known as Esther, had a lovely figure and was beautiful. Mordecai had taken her as his own daughter when her father and mother died.”
Esther’s story shows the love of family adoption. After losing her parents, her older cousin Mordecai lovingly raised her as his own daughter. God used this adopted daughter to become a queen and save the entire Jewish people from destruction.
Acts 7:21
“When he was placed outside, Pharaoh’s daughter took him and brought him up as her own son.”

Isaiah 43:1
