Andrea and Jared, hopeful adoptive parents in South DakotaI recently had the chance to talk with Jared and Andrea, hopeful adoptive parents who live in South Dakota. When you’re thinking about adoption for your child, you’re able to talk to hopeful adoptive parents before making your decision. By chatting with them and asking them questions, you can get the full picture of the adoptive couple as potential parents to your baby.

I asked Jared and Andrea some fun questions that you won’t find in their adoption profile, and I learned that they are a creative, outdoor-loving couple. Their fun family of three enjoys camping, hiking, playing family games, and being involved at their church. Andrea works part-time in marketing and Jared is a project manager at a local electrical distributor. They’d be thrilled to open their hearts to you and your child.

Jared and Andrea share, “We look forward to watching our next child develop, explore, and play their favorite games, try out new interests, and help them to be who they are meant to become. We are open to any form of communication you want to have and would love to be given the chance to give your child a supportive, loving, and fun home.”

1. What is your favorite thing to cook or eat?

Cooking pizza together as a family is one of our favorite activities! Even though we can’t have dairy, we turn this challenge into an exciting adventure. We love trying new dairy-free cheeses and discovering restaurants that offer delicious dairy-free options.

Making pizza is a great way to bond and get creative in the kitchen. Instead of viewing our dairy intolerance as a setback, we see it as an opportunity to explore new flavors and make the best of every situation. It’s all about embracing the journey and having fun together!

We think this a great life lesson too, you can’t always change the cards you are dealt in life, but you can change your attitude towards them.

2. What is an important life lesson you’ve learned?

One of the most important lessons we’ve learned is to find joy in every moment, no matter how challenging it may seem. Life can throw unexpected obstacles your way. We have had our share of grief and loss, but we believe that laughter and finding the lighter side of life can help us overcome anything.

We cherish the small moments, whether a simple walk together or playing games and encourage our family to embrace a joyful mindset. This perspective allows us to build resilience and appreciate the beauty in life’s journey. We don’t shy away from hard things, but we know in the end that God will work everything out for His purpose, which is Good!

3. What Disney character are you most like?

We’d say we relate most to Simba from The Lion King. He goes through challenges but ultimately learns to embrace his identity and purpose. Like Simba, we believe in facing life’s ups and downs together and staying true to our values. Plus, we’ve been known to break out in song at any given moment, especially when we’re having fun in our home!

Whether belting out Disney classics or just goofing around, we love bringing a little joy and laughter into our home.

4. What is your favorite holiday?

Our favorite holiday has to be Christmas. We love the warmth it brings and the opportunity to celebrate Jesus’ birth with family and friends. The decorations, the music, and especially the time spent together create such a special atmosphere.

We always make time for traditions, like baking Andrea’s mom’s Christmas bread. It’s a delicious Tea Ring Cinnamon Roll that is glazed and beautifully decorated. This is one of the traditions that Andrea’s mom used to make, and it keeps her memory alive in our family. We also love getting matching pajamas and watching our favorite Christmas movies.

Just spending time together, reflecting on the past year, and making sure that we help others is our favorite part of the season.

5. What do you want to teach your children?

How important it is to have faith and be kind. It’s something that really matters to us. By showing them love and support in our home, we hope they learn to love others just like Jesus loves us.

We want them to understand how valuable it is to build friendships, lend a helping hand, and share joy wherever they go. It’s all about making a positive impact on the world around them! And we want them to know they are safe and loved just for who they are, not for their accomplishments.
