Greetings from Michigan!

Our family dynamic is a little unique – we are a blended family of 6. We’re very excited to pursue our second adoption, our youngest daughter, Zoey, was adopted from China. Thank you for stopping by our page. We have a happy home that’s full of love, laughter, and adventure. We love the outdoors and spend lots of time swimming & playing sports. Traveling is our passion, and we love to explore new places and create lasting memories. Kelly lived in Southeast Asia for 11 years and had our oldest son, Lukas, in China and youngest son, Logan, in Hong Kong. We’re already a mixed-race family (Andrew is bi-racial and Zoey is Asian!). We hope our website will give you a look into our lives. We look forward to meeting you and learning more about your hopes and dreams for your child.

Our Story

We met while working as EMTs. There was an instant spark between us. The passion to help others is a very important part to our lives that brings us together. We currently serve our city together at the local fire department.

One of our favorite things to do together is travel; whether that’s in-state to the beach or the upper peninsula, or around the country and even outside of it! We love live music, and you will often find us at outdoor concert venues in the summer. We both have a shared likeness for high school and college sports (especially football!) and enjoy healthy family competitiveness as our favorite teams compete throughout the season. You will find us in the bleachers, rain, snow, or shine, on Friday nights watching our children compete on the field, or in the gym during the winter months. Our favorite spot in the city is the airport park! We love ordering food and watching the planes take-off and land from all different destinations.

We are blessed with four children, all from a previous marriage, with our youngest being adopted from China. Our time is spent as cheerleaders for all four in the sports they love to play, including football, baseball, soccer and cheerleading. We have spent time hoping and praying for one more child to complete our family. We look forward to welcoming a new baby into our family and watching the bond grow with their older siblings.

Meet Kelly

(By Andrew) Kelly was a high school teacher for 17 years, and taught for several years in China and Korea before moving into the medical field. Her life experience with a variety of different people and cultures makes her exceptionally accepting, optimistic and adaptive. She is easygoing, down-to-earth and unselfish, and with (4) teenage children she is the peacemaker and mediator. It’s easy for her to see and value the perspective of others, which makes for an amazing listener. She has shown me what loving from your soul looks like and always strives to make me a better man.

As a mother, Kelly is gentle and kind and puts the wants and needs of our children before herself. She loves passionately and unconditionally. Kelly loves sweet cherries, which fits perfectly with her sweet personality. Kelly is easy to get along with and easy to talk to. She is patient and supportive, being your #1 fan and biggest cheerleader. One of her favorite things to do is sit on the beach with her toes in the sand. A few of her other favorite hobbies include Crossfit (or strength-training of any kind) and going to the movie theater. Summer and fall are the best seasons in Michigan, and she loves to be downtown eating outside at local restaurants.

Every day Kelly shows our children what it means to be loved. She is always there to take care of whatever they may need, whether it’s a ride to practice or school, or a new pair of shoes for work. She has taught our children what perseverance and a servant heart look like, while also teaching them how to swim, perform a cartwheel, drive a car, and choose the best place to continue their education (most recently for our oldest son!), and is excited to share these moments with our next child also!

Meet Andrew

(By Kelly) Andrew is one of the most loyal and committed people I know. He believes in doing his best to problem solve and get things done. He enjoys serving his community by serving on our local fire department, and serves our larger state-wide community through organ and tissue donation. Andrew values a sense of security and is always working hard to take care of our family. He is very hardworking, independent, and takes pride in raising our children, encouraging them to be the best versions of themselves. Our children do not share his last name. Andrew stepped into his role as a parent with open arms, allowing our children space and time to grow and learn to love and respect him.

Andrew is the cook in our family! He loves eating good food – from the grill or local restaurants. He enjoys watching Notre Dame football and working in our garden! He also enjoys being outdoors and showing our son how to improve his baseball game, encouraging our daughter the best way to balance school and sports, or spending time underneath the hood of a car with our older sons.

In our family, Andrew is best described for his love for chilling at home, ensuring a balanced routine that checks all the boxes at work so that he (and our family) can rest when it’s time to unwind or gear up for a sporting event, school choir concert, or a call for help in the community. He is excited to share all of these things with our next child, most importantly his heritage – he is very appreciative of his bi-racial upbringing and the value of family and culture.

Our Kids!

Our children are everything to us! Our goal is to always make sure to encourage them to run towards their dreams. This is shown greatest by their variety of sports that they love to play, ranging from football, basketball, baseball, soccer and cheerleading. We enjoy spending our days and nights on the sidelines being their biggest cheerleaders.

A little about them individually,

-Lukas (18): Lukas is our oldest. He just started college pursuing a double major of Sports Management and Communications and we could not be prouder of him! He is calculated and thoughtful and loves being the protector of his younger siblings.

-Zackary (16): Zack is our middle boy. He is our wild child that loves life. Zack loves being the life of any party and the biggest light in any room. He is strong and driven by his love for his friends and family.

-Logan (14): Our youngest boy is Logan. On the outside, Logan is viewed as the quiet one of the family; but man could that be furthest from the truth! Logan is our jokester that loves making us all laugh. He feels deeply and loves unconditionally.

-Zoey (12): Zoey is our youngest child and our lone girl. She loves tagging along with her brothers and showing them just how tough their little sister can be. She is adventurous and loves a good thrill, especially when it comes to roller coasters! She is sweet and always wanting to learn. One of her favorite activities is trying to race her friends in finishing books first.

Our Home in Michigan

We live in a 4-bedroom home about 40 minutes east of Lake Michigan. It has plenty of space to spread out on a large lot. We have fully fenced in the backyard where Andrew tends to the garden. It also provides ample space for our St. Bernard, Dutton, to run around and exercise at his leisure. Dutton has ‘self-identified’ as the seventh member of our family. Despite his large size, Dutton is very gentle and is excited to greet you with a big hug. He is great with our children, family and friends. He enjoys sleeping the day away at the nearest air-conditioning vent.

Our neighborhood is full of families with kids of all ages. We live close to big city amenities, quality healthcare, and good schools, while also being connected to nature, including walking trails, parks, and beautiful Lake Michigan – which we love. Being a part of our local church is important to our family – it hosts and serves a multitude of diverse backgrounds, which is an important component of our family.

Mostly, you can find us congregating around the kitchen, where Andrew loves to cook, or roasting hot dogs over the fire pit in the backyard! We work hard to ensure our children are well provided for and have traditions of their childhood to look back on; our home environment is intentionally full of peace, love & laughter.

Our Promise to You

We promise to love your child unconditionally and provide a home financially for an education, so they can excel and reach their fullest potential. We promise to provide a home that is full of laughter and a foundation of faith in God. We will encourage them to always try their best and assure them that they will always have our love and support. We will take them traveling so they can explore and learn. We will give them the opportunity to enjoy plays and theatre productions to expand their horizons in the world of arts. Most importantly, we promise to never take the trust that you placed in us lightly. We promise to love and nurture your child. We are open to letters, photos and occasional visits if you decide. We are raising our children as individuals with respect to each of their own goals and dreams. We are walking alongside each of them as they create their own paths through faith, education, sports, family and friendships. We look forward to doing the same with your child!

We’d love to talk or answer any of your questions. Please call or text Lifetime at 1.800.923.6784.

More About Our Family

Our Extended Families

We both come from loving families. Andrew is the oldest of two boys. Kelly is the middle child of three. Combined, our parents have 10 grandchildren, ranging from five to eighteen years old. We love hanging out whenever possible. Kelly's parents take all 17 adult children and grandchildren on a family vacation every other year, providing a full week of uninterrupted conversations and quality time.

Andrew's parents live in Michigan, and youngest brother in South Carolina. We look forward to visits and spending time with all of Andrew's family. His father is one of nine children - the childhood stories and advice on life from his aunties and uncles are always on full display with so much laughter! Our entire extended family is excited about our plans to adopt and welcome another addition to the tribe!

We’re also happy to create new family traditions together!

Plans for Childcare

We both work unconventional work schedules, which leaves at least one of us home every day. Kelly works a hybrid schedule that leaves her on the west side of our state and close by at all times. Andrew works from home and on nights, so he is available to take care of the children at most times that Kelly cannot. With us on opposite schedules, child care will not be utilized as one, or both of us are home at all times.

Aside from the two of us, both sets of our parents live nearby and love helping out when needed. On top of when they're needed to help, our parents love being there to spend time with the children, from taking them out to the movies or get some ice cream to having them over to play outside and swim in their pools.

A Few of Our Favorite Things

We love the beach, camping, backyard BBQ's, family euchre game, going to the movie theatre, watching football, "touchdown" candy, celebrating Lunar New Year, Asian food, dressing up for Halloween, making buckeyes at Christmas, swimming at Grandpa and Grandma's, & eating street food/food trucks.

Bucketlist | Our Top 5

-Family trip to Europe
-(Re)visit China and Korea (Luke, Logan & Zoey's birthplace)
-Own our own ice cream shop
-Have a small family farm with a cow and couple goats
-Ski and snowboard in Northwest US

In Closing

Thank you for considering us as adoptive parents for your child! We have adopted previously and are ready and excited to add a child to our lives through open adoption and welcome a connection with you, if you'd like. We can share updates as your child grows and even plan occasional visits. We’d love for them to know everything you’d want them to know about you and never have them wonder where they come from. It would be great to learn more about you and the hopes you have for your child's future. We'd love to talk with you! Just ask Lifetime about us to set up a call or video chat.
