First and foremost, we are devout Christians. We believe the opportunity to adopt is a gift and look forward to it with great anticipation. We knew we wanted to grow our family and exploring adoption has been our primary focus. We will embrace the opportunity to create a loving and supportive environment where our child will thrive in a unique blend of cultures, values, and experiences. We are praying for you during this time and as you read our profile. Please know that our home is filled with an abundance of love and joy, and we want nothing more than to share all we have with a child/children.

About Us

We first met in Jamaica through a mutual friend of ours who later admitted that she thought we would be great for each other. On our first date we went dancing. We got married in 2008. Our marriage is built on a foundation of faith, love, trust and support for each other. Our love for one another is a constant source of strength, and we believe it will be the same foundation that will guide us as parents. We have been married for 16 years, and throughout our journey together we have learned the importance of open and honest communication. We value each other’s opinions, dreams, and aspirations and we work together to create a harmonious and loving home. Our commitment to our marriage is unwavering, and we view it as a lifelong commitment to each other and to the family we hope to build.

Together, we enjoy going to church as a family. We love the beach, family outings, and cookouts especially when we are on vacation in Jamaica. We also love going out for breakfast or dinner on weekends, giving us a chance to unwind and catch-up on the day or week’s events. For entertainment, we still enjoy dancing to soul music, especially at home, and we try to see a movie every now and again at the cinema.

Because of infertility, we know that adoption is the way in which we want to build our family. We are excited to be in a position where we can finally begin this journey. We cannot promise that we will be the perfect parents, but we are quite confident that we will make and learn from mistakes along the way. What we can promise is a lifetime of care and love for any child entrusted to us. We are ready to support our child as they mature, grow, and develop into the best version of themselves.

About Barry

Steph says: Barry works in the private sector doing Industrial Maintenance work. He works on several different types of equipment, and his job is to ensure they are operating at peak performance in order to satisfy production. He enjoys his job tremendously and loves to work in an industrial setting. Both of our jobs have afforded us a comfortable lifestyle.

Barry will make an amazing father because he is calm, patient, considerate, thoughtful and hardworking. I have watched his interactions over the years with his siblings, especially the younger ones, and also with nieces and nephews, and I am amazed every time at his selfless and caring attitude towards them. Over the 25 years I have been with Barry, I have learned that he is always thinking of others and eager to help them in any way he can. He is the rock in my life, and I consider myself truly blessed to have him by my side as we navigate life together. Barry loves to read, listen to Christian music, do crossword puzzles, and is a great listener. He also really enjoys keeping up with local and international news. Finally, he loves a good movie, especially if it is an action flick. I can hardly wait to witness him light up a child’s life with his fun and joyful personality.

About Steph

Barry says: Steph is a Pediatric Nurse and operates in the home environment caring for mentally and physically challenged children. She enjoys her work fully as it gives her meaning and a sense of satisfaction. I have watched her transition from an accounting background to nursing in a seamless fashion.

Deep within my heart I know Steph will make an excellent mom to our child(ren). She is dependable, caring, loves to plan events and go shopping, especially for food, and is a wonderful cook. Steph is fantastic with kids and has been around and caring for kids for most of her life as she used to assist her mom in operating her day care facility. She has been a great role model to her nieces and nephews as well. Steph loves going to the movies, traveling, dancing, and eating out, but her number one passion is cooking, which she finds very relaxing. I thank God every day for making her a part of my life, and long for the day when she will get to share her amazing gifts with our child.

Our Family

Barry is from a large family comprising of 6 sisters, 4 brothers, and 24 nieces and nephews whom he helped to raise. He has an older sister and a younger brother who are both living in Georgia, while the rest of his siblings are living in Jamaica. Whenever the opportunity arises, especially around Thanksgiving, we visit his sister and brother in Georgia. This is usually very special time as we catch up on each other’s lives. Whenever we get the opportunity to go to Jamaica, which we try to do at least once a year, we usually get to see the rest of his brothers and sisters, along with their children, and our friends. This is where complete chaos and riot reigns, in a good way, especially if we decide to cook some food and just enjoy the entire day listening to good music and playing all sorts of games! Other times we just cook or rent a bus and travel to one of the local beaches to have a fun-filled day. Barry’s mother is still very active and living with us in Texas. She travels with us whenever we visit Georgia or Jamaica. She is very much capable and willing to help care for our child when we adopt.

Steph has 4 sisters, a brother, and 15 nieces and nephews, some of whom she helped to raise. Her brother and youngest sister, along with their children, are living in England while the other three sisters are living in Jamaica with their children. Sadly, we don’t get as much a chance to see her family in England as often as we all would like, but a lot of time is spent talking, texting, and Facetiming them in an effort to stay in touch with each other. We hope in the coming season we can all get together in Texas, Jamaica, or in England. Aside from visiting Jamaica and seeing her other sisters, Steph also engages in calling, texting, and Facetiming them a lot.

Our Home in Texas

We live in a single-family home located in a residential neighborhood in Texas. The house is situated in close proximity to essential service providers and amenities such as schools, parks, grocery stores, healthcare providers, pharmacies, hotels, etc. The house consists of a two-car garage, four bedrooms, a large open kitchen, a game room, and a media room. Barry’s mother lives with us and stays in one the bedrooms. Another is used as a home office and the other is reserved for our future child. The property has a fully fenced backyard and play area for our little one. Our church is approximately a 10-minute drive from our home.

Our Promise

We want you to know that the strength and depth of our commitment to each other, and your child we hope to welcome into our lives, is very strong and built on a firm foundation of love and faith.

When it comes to our openness to contact, we want to reassure you that we are open to exploring various forms of communication that you would be comfortable with. We will respect your wishes and desires regarding the level of contact you are comfortable with, and we will always honor and speak of you with love and respect. We understand the importance of maintaining a connection with you and your family, should that be your wish. We are open to exchanging emails, letters, pictures, and even occasional visits. We believe this openness can provide our child with a greater sense of identity and belonging.

We deeply respect your role with your child. We understand adoption is a complex and deeply personal journey for you and your family. We are committed to creating an environment where your child will grow up knowing their roots, their personal history, and their adoption story.

If you choose us as the adoptive parents for your child, we promise to provide a loving, nurturing, and stable home where they can explore their passions, develop their talents, and grow into the best version of themselves. Your child will be surrounded by family and friends who will embrace them with open arms and hearts.

Thank you for considering us as parents for your child. We are humbled by the opportunity to embark on this incredible journey together. We believe that with faith, love, understanding, and open communication, we can create a future filled with happiness, growth, and endless possibilities.

We’d love to talk or answer any of your questions. Please call or text Lifetime at 1.800.923.6784.

With heartfelt appreciation and warmest regards,

Barry & Steph

More About Our Family

Our Favorite Vacation Spot

We have been on several trips together to our native island of Jamaica, which of course is our favorite vacation spot. Every time we visit, we stay at a different location, basking in the breathtaking scenery, climbing the waterfalls, and swimming in the ocean. The sunrises and sunsets are a beauty to behold, and it just never gets stale beholding these wonders.
Family being very important to us and with both of us hailing from large extended families, most of whom are back home in Jamaica, a family get-together is as pleasantly chaotic as it is fun filled while we are there for visits. Spending one-on-one time with our nieces and nephews brings us so much joy as we create new and lasting memories.
We cannot wait to be able to introduce our child to our extended families in Jamaica and see those relationships blossom over time.

Our Faith

We both grew up in a Christian home. Barry can remember going to church twice on Sundays with by brothers and sisters. It was the same for Steph as well, which led her to getting baptized and giving her life to Christ at an early age. Barry followed suit later during adulthood. We attend church regularly on Sundays.

Our Musical Interest

We both love to listen to Christian music. Barry's favorite of all time is Handel's "Messiah" while Steph's is any song by Shirley Caesar. We enjoy listening and dancing to soul music from the 70s to early 90s also.

Our Favorite Sport

Barry: Loves soccer and cricket. He played both in high school. His favorite teams are Argentina and West Indies, respectively.

Steph: Loves netball, which she played in high school. Her favorite team is The Sunshine Girls (Jamaica).

In Closing

Going through infertility has brought us closer as a couple and deepened our desire to raise a family together. We are overly excited to adopt our first child and look forward to a continued relationship with you after the adoption, if you would like. Thank you for considering us as adoptive parents for your child.
