Hi! Adoption is already a big part of our story because Chris was adopted as a baby into his family. When we found out having a biological child would not be possible, his experience with adoption made it clear that it was the path for us to grow our family too. We know in our hearts this is the way for us to become parents and we’re so excited! As a couple, we’re very laid back, hard-working, and always there for each other. Our hope is that having a special understanding of adoption, along with a heart for open adoption, will give us a unique perspective as adoptive parents. It would be an honor to learn more about you and your child!
A Little About Us
How we met, as told by Heather: Chris and I met at work and became friends very quickly. We often went to each other for advice or to bounce ideas around. I knew Chris was someone I could depend on and he knew I would always be there for him. We started dating over 12 years ago and have been happily married for 8 years.
As a couple, we enjoy:
• Attending Milwaukee Admiral hockey games
• Hiking in state parks
• Lake days with swimming, kayaking, and a picnic or cookout
• Traveling to Hawaii and exploring different parts of it each time (we’ve been horseback riding through movie sets there, took a helicopter ride to see waterfalls and rainforests, and even did a caged shark dive once!)
• Date nights
• Going to the movies
• Fishing
• Bowling
About Heather
Chris says: Heather is strong-willed, loving, caring, and funny (often by accident!). I love her determination in getting things done. She’s always there for me to listen or offer a hug. She’s patient when she explains things to others, which I know will help her be a great mom. Heather is always willing to help, whether it’s something she knows well or if it’s all new to her. I can’t wait to see her as a mother.
Heather’s interests:
• Gardening
• Walks around town
• Going to the zoo and seeing ALL the animals
• Reading a book on the patio
Fun Fact: Heather never stops and always gives 100%. If she’s not doing anything she’s probably sleeping!
About Chris
Heather says: Chris is caring, a good listener, dependable, supportive, and compassionate. He will always go out of his way to show you how much he appreciates the little things. I believe he will be a good father, as well as a friend to our future child. Chris would be the kind of dad our child knows they can go to with anything and feel heard. He will always be there to understand, support, and give advice when needed.
Chris’ interests:
• Sports
• Discovering treasures at antique shops
• Bike riding
• Helping his parents with yard work
Fun Fact: Chris collects Milwaukee Brewers Bobbleheads.
Our Home in Wisconsin
We live in a quiet town in southeastern Wisconsin out in the country, yet still close enough to everything. There are parks within walking distance, along with a national scenic trail practically at our doorstep. Our town has different activities for families, including movie nights at the park, kids’ night out, car shows, ice skating, and events to help you get to know neighbors and local businesses. It’s a great place to raise children!
Our home is spacious and brings out who we are as a couple, warm, comfortable, and inviting. We look forward to turning the second bedroom into a nursery after we adopt.
Our Families
We are close to most of our extended family and we love to see them as much as we can. Each of us come from smaller families who are mainly from Wisconsin. Chris’ parents live just 5 minutes from us; Heather’s family is a short drive away. There are more relatives who live 2 hours away, so it’s still easy to get together. We love cookouts with our loved ones throughout the year, as well as holiday traditions like decorating the Christmas tree and baking cookies.
Since Chris was adopted, our families have a special heart for us growing our family through adoption too. He’s always felt accepted by his whole family, loved and supported unconditionally as long as he can remember. Everyone is excited about our plans to adopt a child and they can’t wait to meet the little boy or girl who will become a part of our lives.
Heartfelt Thoughts
Our promise to you is that we will have unconditional love for your baby and we will provide a safe and loving home. As parents we will encourage him or her to be thoughtful, curious, respectful, and courageous. We will always be there for him or her, and support them as they pursue their dreams and interests. It’s important to us that our children know they can come to us about anything. We will teach them to have confidence and to make the most of their education or any opportunity that comes their way. We’ve even started a college fund already!
It means the world to us to be considered as adoptive parents for your child. We will never take for granted what it meant for us to come together this way. We believe open adoption is a good thing, so if you’re interested in ongoing contact, we welcome the chance to stay in touch with you. We’d love to talk about what that could look like between us! We will be open with your child about how special you are to our family and about their background. Your child will know their story has so much love in it, right from the start with you. To talk with us, please call or text Lifetime at 1.800.923.6784.
Thoughtfully, Chris & Heather

More About Our Family
Why We Want to Adopt
Chris shares: We’ve wanted to raise children together and after Heather had a miscarriage we found out that we would not be able to have a baby biologically. We looked at other options, but in our hearts we always knew adoption was the path for us. I was adopted as a newborn, and I could not have asked for a more loving, supportive family. Even though I don’t have an open adoption myself, we believe it can be a positive thing for all involved. We pray that through my own story, we will have a deeper understanding for our future child and their birth family.
What Matters to Us
Time with each other and those we love is important to us, along with having patience and compassion to listen or to help others whenever we can. We believe in giving back too, and look forward to helping with fundraising activities and donations to help children with serious illnesses. We also value our Christian faith and enjoy going to church events or luncheons with Chris’ mom, who is very involved at the Lutheran Church we attend occasionally.
Our Pets
We have 2 cats, Onyx and Violet, who we met at a local shelter event. Violet is a little spitfire who likes to run around, get into anything she can (our home is already child-proofed because of her!), and yet she’s also cuddly and sweet. Onyx is a talker who likes to meow for our attention or be cradled in our arms (in his Superman pose!). Our cats are great friends and such a fun addition to our little family.
What I Love About My Job
Heather: I was able to take my passion for gardening and help people with ideas they can do in their own garden.
Chris: As a machinist, I get to work with my dad every day! Working in a smaller shop, we all know each other well and have formed lasting friendships too.
