Hello! We’re Maritza, Chris and our greatest joy is being parents to our one-year-old son, Briar whom we welcomed through Lifetime Adoption in 2025. We’re a horse ranch family and our lifestyle is caring for our animals on our ranch and spending time with our friends and families cooking together, traveling, and spending time outside. We also enjoy swimming, paddleboarding and kayaking, and live near a beautiful river surrounded by mountains and forests. We love to catch a great outdoor concert and enjoy some of our delicious restaurants in town and food carts. We always planned to have more children and we’re so excited to be back to be growing our family again. Thank you for taking the time to learn about us. Our hearts go out to you as we understand that this is an incredibly important decision for you, and we are grateful you’re here and offer our support.
Hola!
About Us
We met 21 years ago at a horse rancho in Tucson, Arizona and later married in Sonoita, Arizona in 2007 under the sherbert colored sunset in the beautiful desert. We enjoy going to concerts at our local amphitheatre that is right next to the river, love paddle boarding and kayaking, travelling, cooking together and spending time with our friends and family. Although we were not able to conceive our own children, adoption was always part of our plan and we were so thrilled to welcome Briar, our son, through Lifetime Adoption in 2025. We quickly realized we were not done growing our familia, we always wanted 2-3 children, and are so excited to be back at Lifetime dreaming of the next child we will welcome.
About Chris
Maritza About Chris: Chris is an intensely good person, you just know you’re in good hands with him as he is so loving, kind, and is a wonderful father and teacher. He is loved by everyone. His hobbies include playing his Ibanez bass guitar, driving around on our ATV quad with us, and truly loves caring for our animals. He also loves white water kayaking and paddle boarding and is a natural outdoor adventurer. He fell in love with skydiving last year; he’s a brave and strong person. He looks forward to teaching Briar and our next child how to ride a horse, play guitar, learn about history, and how important family is.
About Maritza
Chris About Maritza: Maritza is certainly the person I trust most, including with our son Briar, and therefore with my heart. She is beautiful, and a proud Mexican woman, and Spanish is her first language. No one has ever been loyal to me like she has in her unwavering dedication to me and her family. With all my heart, she is the best person I’ve ever known. Her hobbies include riding her horses, supporting animal causes, catching a concert, cooking, shopping for makeup and clothes, and finding new places for us to travel to and visit and likes to take Briar in his stroller river side for walks. She looks forward to teaching Briar and the next child Spanish, her families recipes including her famous tortillas, and the appreciation for travelling domestically and internationally.
Our Extended Family
Chris’s parents and brother who has 3 children, live in rural Virginia and Tennesee. They are Irish and Scottish in their ancestry and where he is from celebrates incredible musicians that have come from this Appalachian region. It’s very beautiful there, especially in the fall when the trees change to yellow, orange and red. They also have lightening bugs and if you have never seen this in person, it is magical. He still has a lot of childhood friends and family there and it’s always a good time when we visit. Chris’s mother is a talented quilter, his father a wonderful teacher, and his brother is a horseman like him.
Maritza’s parents are from the Sonoran state of Mexico and her younger brother lives in Texas with his wife and is father to two son’s. Her mother is known in the family to be an incredible cook which she has learned from and makes family recipes in our home, especially her tamales! Her mother is a talented knitter and enjoys crocheting, and her father loves any movie or documentary about nature and animals.
We also have close friends that we consider family. They treat us like one of their own and have always embraced us, and our son Briar and are excited about our growing family.
Our Home in Oregon
We are blessed to live in the forest on a 15-acre horse ranch in beautiful Oregon surrounded by lakes, rivers, streams and mountains and it’s hard to imagine a better place to raise a family. Our home is a log cabin and has 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms. The original owners told us that every log used to build our home was sourced from the property itself, a fun piece of history. You can see our horses, mule and donkey from every window and it is common to see horses grazing outside the window, hear our chickens, ducks and turkey’s in the morning, and sometimes the elk herd comes in to visit which is an incredibly peaceful and a calming sight.
Our Promise To You
If you choose us to adopt your child, we would want your child to grow up knowing where they came from. We’re open to staying connected in whatever way feels right to you. It is important to us that it is not just about the child, but their birth parents too. We are currently lucky to have an ongoing relationship with Briar’s birthparents and we continue to tell our son that he has two mothers and two fathers. We can promise you that we will love your child so much, and we will try to meet them where they are, and support them 100% as they grow. We also promise you that we will always put your child’s wellbeing first, surrounding with with love, security and the freedom to become who they are meant to be. It is not just about the child, you are just as important. Thank you, muchas gracias, for giving us a look and no matter what you decide, we send you our compassion, empathy and support.

More About Our Family
More About Us
We are fortunate to have friends and family with children, and it's always lively when we're together whether we are out to eat together, going to the lake, attending birthday parties, or we're hosting, it's a noisy in the best way environment of the children laughing, running and playing. We're a popular place to meet because there is a lot of room to roam and for our peaceful setting. We take trips to travel with our family and friends and that is always a great time.
Places Next On Our List To Visit
Chris has always dreamed of traveling to Iceland to see the Northern Lights, as well as Scotland and Ireland to connect more with his ancestry. On Maritza's list is visiting Italy, more of Spain and France. We have a dear friend in Kenya who does humanitarian work, and Kenya is also on our list of international travel destinations. We are big on domestic travel too, mostly to the South and Southwest where our families are, but we also want to see more of Wyoming, Florida, Montana, Alaska, New Mexico, and the midwest as well as the East coast. We just love to travel and see everything we can.
Our Musical Interests
Chris LOVES AC/DC, heavy metal, and all kinds of music. He studied music in college and plays guitar and values the artistry. Maritza loves regional Mexican music including Mariachi, R and B, Motown music, oldies, Country (old school mostly). Some our favorite artists are: AC/DC, Metallica, Soundgarden, Vicente Fernandez, Maluma, Los Bukis, Dustin Delagarza, Lainey Wilson, George Strait, Sturgill Simpson, Tyler Childers, Chris Stapleton, Miranda Lambert, Riley Green, and many others.
Our Favorite Seasons
Chris loves Summer and Fall seasons for all the water sports and good horseback riding weather. Maritza loves Fall for the trees that change color and bundling up in her coats and scarves with a coffee or hot chocolate. Where we live we have four seasons, with something always to look forward to.
