Hi! We are Katt and Darryl, a joyful and creative couple in southern Ohio. We’re excited to be first-time parents and have been married for over 8 years. We’re honored to be on this adoption journey with you.
Katt was adopted as a baby. She’s lived firsthand how adoption can provide a child with love, safety, and opportunity. Her experience is why we’ve always wanted to adopt and share that same love and support with our child.
Our Story
We met on a sunny afternoon in our office parking lot during a lunchtime walk. Katt asked Darryl to grab lunch (yes, Katt made the first move!), and we’ve been a team ever since.
We’re both engineers who balance technical minds with playful hearts, cozy evenings, and a desire for adventure. We enjoy celebrating the small moments in life, like laundry-day dance parties, listening to rain on our porch, and winding down with a good book and a cat in our lap.
Here’s a glimpse into our life together:
- Travel lovers: We’ve wandered castles of Scotland, climbed glaciers in New Zealand, and visited Hogwarts in England. We’re saving the U.S. to discover each state with our child.
- Creative at heart: Katt sews costumes and plans themed parties for friends and family. Darryl builds furniture from scratch, fixes anything in the house, and photographs our adventures.
- Big on family fun: We go whitewater rafting with Katt’s brothers every year, and color eggs with our goddaughters for Easter.
- Homebodies at heart: We spend most evenings with our cats, homemade meals, and a walk around the neighborhood or good board game. We write in positivity journals each night to remember life’s simple joys and blessings.
- Celebration experts: Halloween is a full-on production here! Costumes, spider war yard decorations, and even a mystery dinner with our neighbors and friends!
Meet Katt
Katt is positive, empathetic, curious, and always creating something new. She’s a structural engineer who matured into a people leader at her company, which is her natural calling. Her greatest passion is helping others discover their talents and grow into their best selves with confidence.
Katt was adopted into a family built on love, acceptance, and deep connection. Her parents raised three very different kids (only one biological), and celebrated each adoption day like a birthday, reminding them that being chosen was something to be proud of. That kind of love made adoption feel like the natural way to grow our family and pay forward the joy and belonging Katt experienced.
What Katt loves:
- Reading fantasy books like Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings with a mug of homemade hot chocolate
- Turning broken mugs into plant holders and secondhand fabric into themed outfits
- Hosting themed events from wildflower birthday parties to 1920s mystery dinners
- Playing sports like softball, basketball, and volleyball
- Growing her gardens with pollinator plants and herbs that overflow their pots
Katt can’t wait to discover what lights up her child’s heart – whether that’s books, bugs, or baking – and help them grow into exactly who they are meant to be. She’ll be the mom who celebrates every quirky interest and gives the biggest hugs at bedtime.
Meet Darryl ("D")
Darryl is humble, steady, thoughtful, and very kind. He’s a perfect complement to Katt’s silliness. He designs jet engines for a living and builds handmade furniture for fun. Raised in rural North Carolina, he was the first in his family to graduate from a four-year college, and he’s never stopped learning since.
What he loves:
- Woodworking in the garage with his nephews, teaching them how to use a drill safely and proudly
- Cooking delicious meals with fresh, natural ingredients
- Stargazing, space documentaries, and designing aircrafts
- Playing basketball, soccer, and board games
- Restoring old things: houses, tools, and ideas that just need a little love and attention
Darryl looks forward to being the calm, loving presence who shows up for every scraped knee, science project, and championship game. He’ll be the dad who teaches his child how to build, explore, and believe in themselves.
Our Family
We both come from big, loving families who are excited to welcome our child with open arms.
Katt’s family lives nearby, and we see them often for birthdays, dinners, and holidays. Her childhood memories include playing kickball in her front yard with her cousins, riding bikes in the neighborhood parade, and playing board games with her two brothers until bedtime.
Darryl’s family lives in North Carolina, and we visit them often. Every visit includes s’mores around a campfire, stargazing, and an Escape Room or two. His parents and sister can’t wait to become an aunt and grandparents again!
Family traditions we’re excited to share:
- Annual camping trips with both Katt and Darryl’s families
- Independence Day cookouts with the town parade passing by our front yard
- Dressing up for the Renaissance Festival in the fall
- Christmas gatherings full of cousins, cookie decorating, and basketball in the driveway
- Sunday dinners, picnics, and board game nights with family and friends
Our Home in Ohio
We live in a beautiful, 3-story house filled with history, character, and warmth. It has plenty of room to grow, including a nursery, a playroom, and themed bedrooms for family and friends. There’s a greenhouse upstairs and a 90s video game sanctuary in our family room.
Our home features:
- A big backyard perfect for playing catch, climbing trees, and building snowcats
- An indoor greenhouse, craft room, and plenty of space for exploring and creating
- A safe street full of kids, with sidewalks for hopscotch and scooters
Our neighborhood offers:
- 3 parks within walking distance, including a handicap-accessible playground
- Top-rated schools, a library, and an ice cream shop just one block away
- Neighborhood parades, festivals, art shows, science competitions, and outdoor concerts
- A caring community where neighbors shovel each other’s driveways and swap plants and secondhand clothes
Our Promise
We want to express our sincere love and support for you and your decision to place your child for adoption. We’ve been touched by adoption through Katt’s personal experience, and we’re honored to share that gift with you and your child.
We promise to provide your child:
- A life rooted in unconditional love, support, compassion, and stability
- Opportunities to explore their passions – whether that’s science, art, or anything in between
- A safe, nurturing home where adoption is spoken about with pride
- A faith-filled household guided by kindness, gratitude, and service
- Support in discovering who they are and where they come from
We promise to honor your role in their story and celebrate the beautiful life you’re bringing into this world. We have been praying for you with this decision, and we are open to meetings and sharing updates about your child, at your comfort level. We can’t wait to start this journey with you. More About Our Family
Our Faith and Values
Our Catholic-Christian faith is a guiding part of our lives. We believe in living with humility, kindness, and compassion, and we’re excited to raise our child with those same values. We attend a diverse and welcoming parish and look forward to celebrating faith-based traditions as a family.
Education is also a major part of how we live our values. We’re lifelong learners who believe in curiosity, creativity, and growing with confidence. Our future child will have access to excellent local schools and support to follow whatever path inspires them.
Our Community
We live in a vibrant, historic neighborhood that feels like a small town in the middle of a city. The streets are lined with trees, sidewalks, community gardens, and engaged neighbors. Our area is known for its inclusivity - there are wheelchair-accessible parks, local concerts, deaf communities, plant swaps, and fundraisers of all sorts. The neighborhood is a melting pot of unique races and cultures thriving together. Children ride bikes down the street, and there’s always someone stopping to talk. It’s the kind of place where your child will feel safe, seen, and supported.
Giving Back
We believe that part of a meaningful life includes serving the community. We volunteer with several organizations, including Habitat for Humanity (provides housing for low-income families), the Karen Wellington Foundation (supports women living with breast cancer), and Birthright (a pregnancy support center). Darryl built a pavilion for Safe Haven Farms (supports adults with autism), and Katt has worked on local home repairs for families in need. We look forward to volunteering with our child and showing them how powerful it is to serve and care for others.
