Hi! We are Katt and Darryl, a playful and supportive couple in southern Ohio. We’ve been married for 9 years and can’t wait to be first-time parents.
Katt was adopted as a baby. She learned firsthand how adoption can give a child love, safety, and room to grow. Her experience is why we’ve always wanted to adopt and share that same love and support with our child.
Our Story
We met on a sunny afternoon on a walk outside our office. Katt caught up with Darryl, thought he was cute, and asked him out. We’ve been best friends ever since.
We’re both engineers who balance technical minds with playful hearts. Our life together is a mix of cozy evenings and big adventures. We enjoy celebrating small moments, like listening to rain on our porch or winding down with a good book and a cat in our lap.
Here’s a glimpse into our life together:
Meet Katt
Katt is positive, curious, and empathetic. She started as a structural engineer and matured into a people leader at her company. Her greatest passion is helping others discover their talents and grow into their best selves.
Katt was adopted into a family full of love and acceptance. Her parents raised three very different kids (only one biological), and celebrated adoption days like birthdays. Those moments helped her grow up feeling secure and proud of being adopted. Because of that, adoption has always felt like a comfortable and meaningful way for us to grow our family.
Things Katt enjoys:
Katt can’t wait to discover what her future child is drawn to and help them grow into exactly who they’re meant to be. She’ll be the mom who celebrates every quirky interest and gives the biggest hugs at bedtime.
Meet Darryl
Darryl is humble, steady, and kind. He’s a perfect complement to Katt’s silliness. He designs jet engines for a living and builds handmade furniture for fun. Raised in rural North Carolina, he was the first in his family to graduate from a four-year college, and he’s never stopped learning since.
What he loves:
Darryl looks forward to being the calm, loving presence who shows up for every scraped knee, science project, and championship game. He’ll be the dad who teaches his child how to build, explore, and believe in themselves.
Our Family
We both come from big, loving families who are excited to meet our child.
Katt’s family lives nearby, and we see them often for birthdays, dinners, and holidays. Her childhood memories include playing kickball in her front yard with her cousins, riding bikes in the neighborhood parade, and playing board games with her two brothers until bedtime.
Darryl’s family lives in North Carolina, and we visit them often. Every visit includes s’mores around a campfire, stargazing, and an Escape Room or two. His parents and sister can’t wait to become an aunt and grandparents again!
Family traditions we’re excited to share:
Our Home in Ohio
We live in a historic, 3-story house filled with character and warmth. It has plenty of room to grow, including a nursery, a playroom, and spare bedrooms for family and friends. There’s a greenhouse upstairs and a video game sanctuary in our family room.

More About Our Family
Our Faith and Values
Our Catholic-Christian faith is a guiding part of our lives. We believe in living with humility, kindness, and compassion, and we’re excited to raise our child with those same values. We attend a diverse and welcoming parish and look forward to celebrating faith-based traditions as a family.
Education is also a major part of how we live our values. We’re lifelong learners who believe in curiosity and creativity. Our future child will have access to excellent local schools and support to follow whatever path inspires them.
Our Community
We live in a vibrant, historic neighborhood that feels like a small town in the middle of a city. The streets are lined with trees, sidewalks, community gardens, and engaged neighbors. Our area is known for its inclusivity - there are wheelchair-accessible parks, local concerts, deaf communities, plant swaps, and fundraisers of all sorts. The neighborhood is a melting pot of unique races and cultures thriving together. Children ride bikes down the street, and there’s always someone stopping to talk. It’s the kind of place where your child will feel safe and supported.
Giving Back
We believe that part of a meaningful life includes serving the community. We volunteer with several organizations, including Habitat for Humanity (provides housing for low-income families), the Karen Wellington Foundation (supports women living with breast cancer), and Birthright (a pregnancy support center). Darryl built a pavilion for Safe Haven Farms (supports adults with autism), and Katt has worked on local home repairs for families in need. We look forward to volunteering with our child and showing them how powerful it is to serve and care for others.
