Aloha! Hi! We’re so thankful for this chance to share a little about us and the life we’d love to share with your child. As a military family currently stationed in Hawaii, we love to travel and exploring new places. We’re both musicians and music is a big part of who we are. Staying active and creating a life grounded in love, education, and a sense of security and belonging are important to us, especially as we look forward to raising a child together. We’re excited about becoming first-time parents through open adoption and hope to learn more from you about what kind of ongoing communication feels right. We’d be honored to create a connection with you and to welcome your child into our family.
A Little About Us
We have been married for over 11 years and more than anything, we’ve dreamed of growing our family and sharing our love as parents. We are both active-duty Marines and we first met while attending an advanced music and leadership course in Virginia. During our time in the course, we studied together and built a strong friendship that allowed us to get to know each other well. We got engaged after graduation and it’s been an amazing journey together so far!
Together we enjoy:
- Traveling the world
- Making music together and attending live concerts
- Cooking balanced meals (and baking homemade treats!)
- Swimming at the beach
- Visiting museums, observatories, amusement parks, and National Parks
- Watching movies
- Jigsaw puzzles
- S’mores around the firepit
- Reading
- Running
- Biking
About Monica
Dave says: Monica is a dedicated and loving woman. She’s hard-working and dedicated to reaching the goals she sets for herself and our family. Monica makes every house we’ve lived in feel like a home and I love how much she cares about our family. She gives attention to the little things and is always thinking of our future, while still being very present and enjoying the moment. Monica will be an attentive and loving mom who will focus everything on our little one, giving all of her loving support.
Monica’s interests:
- Trying new recipes
- Sewing
- Gardening
- Writing
- Planning and hosting dinners at our home
- Learning to play the accordion
Fun Fact: I collect magnets from our travels and have a big collection on our fridge from all the countries, states, and special places we’ve visited.
About Dave
Monica says: I was first drawn to Dave’s tall, handsome presence, but what stood out to me was his intelligence, humor, and kindness. Dave is very smart, with a sharp memory, and a talent for learning things quickly. I’m always learning from him! He has a huge heart and is loyal, dependable, and caring. Dave has a special connection with his nieces and nephews and takes wonderful care of his parents and our little dog, Gracie. I have no doubt he will be an amazing father.
Dave’s interests:
- Woodworking
- Playing the French Horn
- Hiking trails
- Home projects or fixing things
- Snorkeling
- Learning about history and cars
Fun Fact: I love reading maps, which make hikes and runs fun to explore good trails. We never get lost! My friends also think of me as an endless source of “useless information,” because I am good at trivia.
Life in Hawaii
Living on a military base means our community is diverse and full of family-friendly features. Within walking distance of our home in beautiful Hawaii is a new elementary school, a Child Development Center, four beaches, three playgrounds, and places to play tennis, pickleball, basketball, volleyball, and baseball. Our neighborhood also has a skate park and track with a football and soccer field. There’s always something to do for fun and exercise here!
Our two-story home is spacious with three bedrooms and a fenced yard. Just beyond our backyard is a large, open field perfect for outdoor activities. Our home is cozy and relaxing. We’ve picked out a room for our future baby or children and have purchased some of the basic items a baby or toddler will need. We’re excited to decorate the nursery and set everything up when we know more about the little one who will join our family.
We embrace the chances we get to enjoy and explore new places wherever we get stationed. There are always good and interesting things to see and do in any of the places we’ve lived! We’ve loved living in beautiful Hawaii and look forward to our next move to California in the coming year.
Our Family
Being a military couple, it’s important to us that no matter where we live, we stay close with our loved ones. We have family in Texas, Ohio, and Arizona. Musical talents run throughout Dave’s side of our family, with both of his brothers as retired Navy musicians. Adoption is a part of our family on both sides too! We have 16 nephews and nieces, 2 of whom were adopted into their families. Our families are a strong network of love, support, and shared traditions that we look forward to including our future child in. Everyone is happy about our plans to adopt!
From Our Hearts...
We are truly honored to be considered as adoptive parents for your child. Being parents will always be an important responsibility that we would forever hold dear. We promise your child will grow up in a home filled with unconditional love, laughter, support, and encouragement. We will cherish every opportunity to help him or her embrace their education and creativity, and to make memories together as a family. Your child will know how much we admire and respect you. They will know that their story has been rooted in love from the start.
Adoption is something we’ve already embraced with our whole hearts. We are committed to honoring your place in your child’s story, in our family’s story. You will always have a meaningful and lasting place in your child’s life. We’d love to know what kind of ongoing contact you are comfortable with. If you want an open adoption, we’d be happy to share updates and a connection with you.
It’s humbling to think that there’s already a connection with you, just by you being here. We deeply respect the process you’re going through to decide what you want to do. We’d love to get to know you or answer any questions. To contact us, call or text Lifetime at 1.800.923.6784.

More About Our Family
Why We're Hoping to Adopt
We felt drawn to adoption early in our relationship. When we were faced with the possibility of needing fertility treatments to have a child, our hearts led us toward adoption again. We believe that family is made through love, commitment, and connection and we’d be incredibly honored to build our family through adoption. Becoming parents is a dream we’ve shared for a long time and we are ready to offer a life filled with unconditional love, stability, encouragement, and joy.
What We Value
Education and Learning: We both have earned college degrees while we worked full-time. We also love things that keep our minds sharp, like documentaries, trivia, and playing chess.
Nature: We make it a point to do things outdoors and like to explore the surroundings wherever we have lived or traveled. We have a goal to visit all 63 National Parks and have already checked off some of them!
Music and Art: We love all kinds of music and going to live music events or art museums, even when we travel.
Family and Friends: Since we are often stationed away from our family and friends, we stay connected long-distance with our loved ones through FaceTime, group texts, and planning trips to see them.
Travel: Getting to see first-hand the different cultures and people around the world is an amazing experience.
Healthy Living: We like to cook healthy foods at home and stay in shape with different activities, like swimming, running, and biking. These hobbies bring us closer and are things we look forward to doing with our future child.
Faith: We are both Christian and attend church occasionally. Dave’s father was an Episcopal priest and one of his brothers is also in ministry. While Dave was raised Episcopalian, Monica was raised as a non-denominational Christian. We plan to raise our child or children in the Christian faith.
Our Dog
We have one dog, a Dachshund named Gracie who we rescued as a puppy. She’s full of personality and loves to snuggle and cuddle. We enjoy going on walks or taking rides in the car with her. Gracie’s favorite game is fetch and she’ll happily bring you her toys again and again to keep the fun going. She’s a wonderful part of our family and good with people. Gracie brings joy and laughter to our home every day.
Traditions We Love
• Cooking, playing music, catch, or board games (we love Chess, Queens, Connect Four, and Uno), when our families get together
• Decorating our yard for Halloween (fun, not scary!) and handing out candy from our driveway as trick-or-treaters go through our neighborhood
• Big Thanksgiving meals and making Kolachi, a nut bread from Monica’s Romanian heritage, and cooking recipes from Monica’s mother, such as her famous green bean casserole, mashed potatoes, and pistachio ambrosia
• Going all out for Christmas, including FIVE trees and decorating everything with lights to feel like a winter wonderland, even in a place like Hawaii where it doesn’t snow
• Traveling to see our families for holidays and exploring new places to celebrate the season in our own special ways, just the two of us
In Closing
We are excited about growing our family through adoption! Thank you for considering us as you decide what you want to do for your child's future. We would love to talk with you or answer any questions. Our hearts, and our whole circle of family and friends, are ready to welcome your child with so much love. If you'd like to share, it would be nice to get to know you and hear how you would like your child's adoption to look. We're open to keeping in touch and you will always hold a special place in our hearts.
