Hello from Iowa! We are David and Sarah and are looking forward to taking this journey with you! We are a fun, energetic, and silly family with a lot of love to give. We love to hike, ride bikes, watch movies, and just generally spend time outside. We have always wanted a little girl to do all the fun girly things with. Adding a daughter to our family would mean the world to us and we look forward to getting to know you better.
About Us
We have known each other for over 20 years, first meeting in High School, and have now been married for 15 years. We have two boys, Bradyn (14) and Carson (12). When our youngest was born, Sarah suffered complications and is unable to have any more children. However, we realized we both had a deep desire to add a daughter into our family. This led us to start our adoption journey to expand our family.
We love spending time outdoors hiking, biking, gardening, or just relaxing on our patio and playing yard games or sitting by the fire. We are an active family and live very close to a great trail system where we frequently walk and ride our bikes when the weather is nice.
Adding a little girl to our family will add a new level of excitement for us. For example, Dave looks forward to attending daddy/daughter dances and Sarah cannot wait to braid hair and have girl spa days! Bradyn and Carson are excited to share all of their favorite things with a new baby sister and be her protection squad.
About Sarah
David says: Sarah enjoys watching the Iowa State Cyclones and cheering on the Minnesota Vikings.
She loves photography and enjoys taking our family pictures every year, as well as photographing gatherings with our extended families. She has been working on improving her sports photography skills, always trying to get that perfect shot.
Sarah loves to be outdoors. The best evenings are spent sitting on the patio around the fire, making smores, listening to music or watching a movie. She is also the glue that holds the family together, keeping the family’s schedule and everyone on task.
Sarah would love a daughter to do all the “girl” things with. She looks forward to doing her hair, getting pedicures and manicures, and getting all dressed up to have a girls’ day. She also can’t wait to show her that it’s ok for girls to get dirty too! Being able to share her love for the outdoors would mean the world to Sarah, and she cannot wait to have a daughter to share that with. She spends a lot of time outside in the summer taking care of the flowers around the yard, as well as the ones we grow in the garden. She would love to have a daughter to help her create the perfect bouquets to cut and bring in the house to display.
About David
Sarah says: David is a goofy, dad-joke-loving, talented, hardworking man. He loves to find new games for the kids to play or find places for us all to explore. He is also great at making amazing snow sledding hills. The kids love it!
He enjoys working on landscaping projects and loves woodworking. He has created several pieces of furniture for us and other family members. He also completed the majority of our own home renovation projects, inside and outside of our house. He has been teaching the kids (and even me!) how to safely use tools and complete projects themselves, trying to pass his knowledge on. David can fix just about anything, and if he is not sure how, he is great at watching a quick video on YouTube to find the solution.
David would love the opportunity to have a daughter. He wants his own little princess that he can dance with, let her paint his nails, and play with all the glitter. He enjoys spending time with all his nieces and would love the chance to raise a daughter. He would also love to be able to show her his love for the outdoors by adding her to our hiking adventures, playing basketball in the driveway, teaching her how to complete her own carpentry projects, and showing her all of his tricks for growing the perfect crops in our garden. He is a big softie, and a daughter would hold a very special place in his heart.
Our Sons
We have 2 Sons…
Bradyn is very social and can strike up a conversation with just about anyone. He is a competitive swimmer and loves to be in the water. He is a great teammate too. He loves all living things like bugs, animals, birds, fish, you name it. He is always excited to go to zoos and aquariums or just being outside enjoying the wilderness. He is very creative and artistic as well, always drawing and designing new inventions or new car designs. Music is also important to him–he plays percussion in his school band and is always listening to music and dancing around. Bradyn would love to have a little sister that he can give piggyback rides to, push on the swings, share his love of creating new art masterpieces, and teach to swim.
Carson is very quick witted and is always coming up with quick one-liners and comebacks that often have us doubled over with laughter. He can be a bit shy around new people and is a big softie; however, he is always full of energy and loves to be active. He loves playing basketball and also joined the swim team with his big brother, swimming competitively. He has been learning to play guitar and has also started playing the saxophone in his school band. He is also very good at drawing and likes to come up with his own comic book stories. Carson would love to have a baby sister he can play with. He is very patient and also very protective, and would make sure his little sister was always safe.
Our Home in Iowa
We live in a 4-bedroom home; everyone gets their own room, and the 4th bedroom has been turned into the nursery. We have a crib all set up, and the changing table was made by David himself! Our bedroom door is just a few steps from the nursery. We have a nice large backyard with a beautiful patio where we spend a lot of our time. We have a basketball hoop by the driveway, a garden in the backyard, and a nice shed to store things such as yard games and garden tools.
We live in a nice quiet neighborhood close to our schools, parks, and trails. Our community has often been referred to as being the best place to raise a family in the state of Iowa! Our school district has a lot of opportunities for kids–a variety of clubs, sports, volunteering, culture fairs, and more. We can enjoy many different semi-professional sports like baseball, hockey, soccer, and even indoor arena football. There are several gymnastics and trampoline parks, and there are always festivals and farmers’ markets to attend as well. Our family loves to attend parades during the summer and are always looking for the best ice cream shops to visit.
Our Promise
We promise to raise your daughter in a loving and nurturing environment. We will provide her with every opportunity to grow into a strong, independent woman with strong values and a big heart. We will make sure she has a great education and follows her dreams on through college. We want her to live her life to the fullest!
You will not be forgotten, and we will always ensure she knows her whole story. We have a lot of love to give, and we will ensure she knows how loved she is by ALL of us. Raising a daughter will truly be a blessing! We welcome all forms of adoption and would love to stay in touch with you, if you want. We are open to scheduled visits and are willing to work with you so that everyone is comfortable.
We’d love to talk or answer any of your questions. Please call or text Lifetime at 1.800.923.6784.

More About Our Family
Family Traditions
• We celebrate every birthday--this is very important in our home.
• We attend the Iowa State Fair every year--it's our way of wrapping up the summer before school starts!
• Every Christmas Eve we attend church, then come home and watch "The Polar Express" before bed.
• We update our family photos every year to see how we have changed.
• Spend the 4th of July at the lake with family.
Extended Family
We have a very large extended family! David is one of five siblings and all of them live in our state, which means we get together as much as we can. Between the five of them they have 11 children, the oldest being 15 and the youngest being four. We try to take a big family vacation with them every other year. It may just be a long weekend at a zoo and some pool time in a hotel, but the kids love it! It’s an extra chance for them to be together and have fun outside of the regular holidays and birthday celebrations we spend together.
Sarah has two sisters, five stepsisters, and one stepbrother. Both of Sarah’s sisters live close by, so we get together with them on a regular basis. Sarah’s youngest sister has a son who is 3, and the boys love playing with him. Her stepsiblings all have children as well, so when we get together the kids have a blast! They love to go on adventures together, usually running through the woods at Grandma and Grandpa’s house. We are also fortunate to have Sarah’s aunt and uncle live only a few blocks from us with kids not much older than ours. They have always jumped in and helped us when needed, watching the kids last-minute on school cancellation days, or just providing another level of support when needed.
Plans for childcare
We have a great daycare and preschool close to our home. It is a very loving environment, and we love each and every staff member there. It is where both Bradyn and Carson attended daycare and preschool. They also provide summer care and before and after school care. While we both work, this was essential in having a place where the kids were comfortable once they started school. They had a familiar place to be until we were off work. This daycare has been another family to us!
Our thoughts on open adoption
It is important to us that your child knows where she comes from. We would love to have an open adoption and have a line of communication open with you to stay updated, and are even open to occasional visits. However, we do understand that not everyone wants an open adoption, and we will respect those wishes. We will work with you at the level you are comfortable with to make sure this is the best situation for everyone!
In Closing
Raising a daughter would truly be a blessing for us, and we would be forever grateful if chosen to be your baby girl's adoptive family. We have a lot of love to give and want you to know that we will raise your daughter to be a strong and independent woman with a strong set of values. We want her to grow up being the best version of herself! We embrace all levels of diversity, as being different is what makes us each unique. That is something to celebrate! We raise our kids to love and respect those around them, we don't exclude others, and we befriend those around us, helping those who need it most. These are important values to our family, and we will keep passing them down to our children. We have so much love to give and are excited to get to know you better to see if we can take the next step in this journey together!
