Hello from the great state of North Carolina! We are excited and thrilled to start our journey towards adoption. We started our relationship about 15 years ago while stationed in Fort Polk, Louisiana and haven’t turned back on the connection we hold for one another. From the very start of our relationship, we have traveled throughout the United States as well as other countries. We love experiencing new culture and new things we have never done. We enjoy getting together with friends and family to have fellowship. We love our pastor’s quote, “There are steamships and battleships, but there is nothing like fellowship,” and we stand by this saying.

We pride ourselves on loving others the same way Gods loves us. Our love is unconditional, and we can overcome any obstacle. With that comes family which is the center of our happiness. We believe in establishing a strong bond with family, and that family doesn’t just consist of a flesh and blood. Family is what we make it to be. Throughout our everyday lives we have built bonds with different individuals that we consider to be family. We never meet strangers; we love talking and communicating with others.

We are excited to grow our family and raise a child together through adoption!

About Us

We were first introduced through the military. We decided to hang out, and the next thing we knew we were in love and planning a wedding. Our friendship was always the basis for us falling in love; we spent every moment we could together. Our time together is always full of laughter, fun, and excitement. We have been married for 12 years.

We both entered the relationship each having a son. We both knew we wanted to bring another child into our already awesome family. God blessed us with another son. We only have one son in our home now because the other two are adults living their best lives. We are more than excited to add another distinguished child to our family.

We enjoy traveling, sports, spending time with family, laughing, and going to the movies. We chose to adopt because we love kids and love having the laughter and sounds of kids running around the house. We feel that God has blessed us, and we want to share those blessings with another child.  We believe the lyrics from Whitney Houston’s song, “Children are our future, teach them well and let them lead the way, show them all the beauty they possess inside”. We want you to know that God has directed our paths to adopt.

About Dwayne (by Angela)

Throughout his early years, Dwayne was taught to work hard and be the best person he could be. He attended church regularly and feels that it molded his life and personality. After graduating from high school, Dwayne enlisted in the United States Army. His dream was always to serve his country. Throughout the Army’s travels, we met, got married, and our family had a chance to travel the world and learn about different cultures/customs.

Dwayne loves to fish and watch all UNC Tar Heel sports. Go Tar Heels! He also loves working outside doing things around the yard and believes he is the world’s most excellent cook. He also loves playing with our youngest son and all the activities he takes part in. He can’t wait to share the same bond with our next child. He is a great dad who will give lots of love and care to another child.

About Angela (by Dwayne)

Angela is a spectacular mom who devotes most of her time to our kids. All our son’s friends love hanging out with us due to my wife being the loving, caring, patient, and kind-hearted person she is. Angela is my best friend; normally if you see her, you see me also as we love spending time with one another. She loves doing arts and crafts so she can showcase her talent. Other things she enjoys are reading, shopping, and watching love stories on television.

Angela served 22 years in the military, and now works with the United States Department of Veteran Affairs. Angela loves all things when it comes to kids. Most days you will see her in the yard throwing the football with our son or playing a one-on-one game of basketball with him. Angela is a phenomenal mom and will cherish every moment with our next child.

Our Home in North Carolina

Every day we thank God for where we came from and for where we are now. We reside in North Carolina after spending over 22 years in the US Army. We were blessed to build our forever home, that we customized ourselves. We have a very spacious home on our own private road with only family surrounding us. Our community is family-friendly and is close enough to the surroundings cities, but far enough to be peaceful and quiet. Our home has 4 bedrooms with each bedroom having its own bathroom suite. We have a finished attic and two family rooms that have plenty of space for kids to run around. The backyard is a treat for anyone including an in-ground pool. Our home is our sanctuary and we look forward to raising our family here with lots of happy and fun memories. We are close to different recreation centers, nature and parks, water activities, museums, and shops and restaurants.

We have one dog in our home, Lilly, who is a miniature poodle. She is the most loveable and friendly dog! She enjoys going outside and running around. She’s our princess!

Our Family

We have 3 sons. Xavier is 10 years old and full of energy, and has a personality all of his own.  He loves sports, which he gets from us and his older brothers. He has played several different sports, but now only focuses on football and basketball. We love watching him do the things he loves and can’t wait to ensure our next child does things they love as well. He has been asking for another sibling for a long time since he is the only child currently living in our home. He can’t wait to protect and play with them.

We also have our oldest son, Roy, who lives in Michigan now and loves to come visit whenever he can so he can hang out with his younger brother. Most of his time is spent working and trying to become the best person he can be. Our middle son, Isaiah, lives in Washington and he is also an athlete. He loves coaching younger kids in their basketball and football skills. Whenever he comes to visit, he loves to be competitive with all of us.

We have a big extended family in North Carolina and Louisiana. We love spending as much time with them as possible. Any chance we get to do family trips we are all in. Your child will have tons of love and care from our family, as well as our extended family.

More About Our Family

Our Special Interests

We love traveling and going to different places to learn about different cultures, eating good food, and having experiences we will cherish with our family for the rest of our lives. We both love sports, but basketball and football are our favorites and any chance we get to go to a game we go. We focus on supporting our kids on all their adventures, which always become our special interests also. We focus on believing in yourself and your desires. We believe when you believe in yourself, you're more likely to take risks, stay focused, and do your best under pressure.

Our Faith

Dwayne is a proud Deacon in our church and loves teaching Sunday school. Angela serves as a Deaconess and the church secretary. We continue to strive to be faithful in God's word.

A Typical Weekend With Us

Our weekends always start off with Dwayne cooking a big breakfast. Then we normally do yard work if needed. We usually have sports activities to attend, and then later we're normally off to the movies. On Sunday's we travel to Dwayne's home church, which we all love because it's a small church with a family feel where everybody knows everybody. After church we always go and eat with Dwayne's parents, which we all can't get enough of with the great cooking.

Top 3 Thoughts on Parenthood

1. We have learned that it's easy to say "yes" to everything all the time and give a child everything they want. But we also know that it's alright to say "no" and sometimes need to be a little tougher, because we know in the long run our children will thank us if we as parents will guide them to work hard for what they want in life.

2. We believe that we should not punish a child for being human since we all make mistakes. Children will have grumpy moods, tough days, impolite tones, or a lack of confidence. As adults, we have them too. No one is flawless or perfect, so we have pledged to not hold our children to a higher standard of perfection that we cannot ourselves obtain.

3. We know that children need our presence more than getting material things. We as parents are the ultimate role model for our young children. We must believe in our children and always give them love because it makes a difference in their lives.

In Closing

We sincerely appreciate you taking a moment to visit our profile. We are excited to start this journey to add another special person to our family. We pray each and every day that God fills our home with joy and laughter. We want our home and family to be a place where everyone feels loved, valued, and heard. Children are our greatest treasures, and it will be our family duty to nurture, love and care for them. Every child is a masterpiece in progress, waiting to be painted with kindness and guidance. We are open and willing to have an open adoption, if that is your wish.
