Hello! As a couple we try to live each day with purpose. Becoming parents has been such a joy for us and we had always dreamed of having a large family. Raising our 6 year old son, James, has taught us more about what matters to us, like how to be present in the day-to-day things as much as in the big memories we make together. It’s important that our children know what they mean to us and how loved they are for who God made them to be. When we tried to grow our family again, we experienced the unexpected loss of our second son at birth. After that we were told it may be difficult to have more children biologically. Through it all our desire to add another child to our family has stayed strong. Adoption has been on our hearts since early in our relationship and we’re excited to be in this process! We would love to embrace a relationship with you and learn more about what you hope for your child’s future.
Our Story
How we met, as told by Rachel: I became friends with Evan’s brother’s wife through a women’s Bible study, and because of that friendship I met Evan at her birthday party years ago. I remember noticing how Evan was always making others smile and seemed like a very genuine person. After that party, our relationship grew and we have been happily married almost 10 years.
Together we like:
• Meals as a family
• Volunteering at church
• Relaxing talks over coffee
• Game nights
• Cooking
• Walks in our neighborhood
A Little About Rachel
Evan says: Rachel is a fun, loving, tender-hearted person who loves her family unconditionally. She is very social and can talk with anyone. Rachel has a way to make others feel valued and known. My wife loves being a mom and caring for others as a nurse. She has worked in the ICU, recovery room, and has pediatric care experience through her work. Rachel cares for our family so well and makes us feel special each day. She always plans ahead to make each day fun and will always do everything possible to be the best mother and advocate for our children.
Rachel enjoys:
• Cooking and baking
• Puzzles
• Gardening
• Homemaking & DIY projects
• Reading
• Making candles
A Little About Evan
Rachel says: Evan is fun, loyal, and a loving provider for our family. He works as an electrical engineer for a government contractor. His job offers a good work-life balance that gives him a lot of time for our family. My husband is known for being level-headed, friendly, and ready to help others. He is always helping out the neighbors by mowing their grass, helping move furniture, or shoveling their snow. Evan is a deep thinker and carefully considers his decisions. He cares deeply and invests fully in the relationships in his life, especially with us. Evan is so patient with our son and always has a way of meeting him at his level. All of this makes him an amazing dad.
Evan enjoys:
• Doing almost anything outdoors
• Playing sports
• Family game night
• Hosting get-togethers
• Playing drums, acoustic guitar, and bass at church
Family Life
Our son, James, is 6 years old. He is very sweet, kind-hearted, and great with younger children. James loves exploring the world around him through books, toys, and hands-on activities. He also likes being outside, playing in his treehouse, riding his bike, playing with others, and music.
As a family we love being together and making memories! Evan has Fridays off from work, so those days are often “Family Adventure Days,” and we’ll plan trips to the local safari or zoo, museums, trampoline park, getting brunch, going to a waterpark or playground, attending library events, and more. We also love being outside as a family, so we can usually be found playing in the treehouse, kicking a ball or running around the yard, playing frisbee, or out on bike rides around the neighborhood.
Extended Family: We are very close with our parents and siblings. Almost everyone lives within an hour of us, so we spend a lot of time together! We have 4 nieces and nephews and it’s so fun when the cousins are all together. Our whole family is excited to welcome the child we adopt!
Our Home in Pennsylvania
We live outside of a large city in a suburban community at the top of a cul-de-sac. Most of the families in our neighborhood have young children, so there are always kids playing together outside. Our two-story home is in a great location with easy access to the city and anything we need. We have four bedrooms, a finished basement, and a great yard where children love to play. The nursery is set up and ready for us to personalize. We also enjoy hosting dinners and events. We love to have a full home and lots of people around our table!
3 things we love about where we live:
• A screened-in back porch where we spend a lot of time together year-round.
• Having neighbors who are like family to us!
• Making s’mores around the firepit on our back patio.

More About Our Family
Our Family Values
Our family is a huge part of our lives and we spend a lot of time together. It’s important for us to nurture friendships and family connections. We also value faith, courage to do the right thing, and determination to keep trying through any challenge. At church, we both enjoy volunteering and staying involved in the community. Evan plays bass and drums on the worship team, serves as an elder, helps with the kids’ ministry, and leads a neighborhood Bible study group. Rachel leads a small group for mothers and assists with the medical team at church.
Thoughts on Parenthood & Plans for Childcare
We believe raising our children is a rewarding and humbling job. Being a mother and father means we we need just as much self-discipline and personal growth as much as we are teaching or training our children. We’ve learned how to slow down and find the simplicity and good around us through the eyes of a child. It’s an honor we cherish every day!
Rachel stays at home with our son, except for two days a month when she works at the hospital to keep her nursing skills active while she's a stay-at-home mom. When we need help watching our son, each of our mothers (the grandmas!) help out.
Fun Facts
• Rachel's first job was at a vegetable stand in her small town selling the farmer's corn.
• Evan’s first job was babysitting (he's always been good with children!).
• During nursing school, Rachel worked as an aid at a nursing home.
• Evan played in a band in high school.
• Rachel's first live concert was to see Kenny Chesney (so fun!).
• Evan's childhood soccer team won a state championship.
Favorite Traditions
• Game nights and family dinners
• Family beach vacations
• Watching sports together
• Christmas Eve with the Feast of the Seven Fishes, an Italian tradition from Rachel's family
• Watching classic Disney movies
• Building Lego sets and doing puzzles
• Watching birds come to the feeder outside our dining room window (our son loves birds!)
