Hello! We’re Colleen and Joe from New England, parents to our son Padraig whom we adopted in 2019. Our days are filled with outdoor adventures, cooking together, and creating cherished family memories. We’re excited about growing our family and would be honored to connect with you during this journey.

About Us

We’ve been married for nearly 12 years and first met through mutual friends at a community event. Our connection was immediate–we bonded over shared values and a love for active lifestyles.

Adoption became our path to parenthood after experiencing fertility challenges. When Padraig joined our family, our lives transformed in wonderful ways. We maintain an open relationship with his birth mom and deeply value that connection.

Together we enjoy:

  • Hiking local trails on weekends
  • Cooking Sunday family dinners
  • Attending Irish cultural events
  • Traveling to new places and museums
  • Movie nights with homemade popcorn

We look forward to sharing these traditions with our next child and creating new family memories together.

About Colleen (by Joe)

Colleen brings warmth and energy to everything she does. I admire her patience, creativity, and nurturing spirit. Her genuine care for others shows in both her professional and personal life.

As a physical therapist, Colleen helps athletes and dancers recover from injuries and reach their goals. Teaching Irish step dancing allows her to share her cultural heritage while building confidence in her students.

Her interests include:

  • Baking sweet treats
  • Cooking family recipes
  • Decorating our home through the seasons
  • Watching comedy shows and People’s Court
  • Planning bucket lists for travel and food

Colleen looks forward to teaching our future child about their cultural heritage, sharing bedtime stories, and fostering curiosity about the world.

About Joe (by Colleen)

Joe’s thoughtfulness and reliability make him an incredible husband and father. I love his sense of humor, dedication to family, and how he finds joy in life’s simple pleasures.

As the owner of a Sports Performance Center, Joe mentors young athletes, helping them build confidence and reach their potential. His approach combines technical expertise with genuine encouragement.

His interests include:

  • Home improvement projects
  • Writing creative stories and educational blogs
  • Coaching youth sports
  • Watching history documentaries
  • Grilling for family gatherings

Joe looks forward to teaching our future child about teamwork, resilience, and finding wonder in everyday experiences.

Our Family

Padraig, now 5 years old, is our energetic, curious son who loves science, math, art, and music. His playful spirit and kind heart bring daily joy to our lives. He’s excited about becoming a big brother and already talks about the games they’ll play together.

Our extended family is spread across New England, but remains closely connected. We gather for holidays, summer barbecues, and special celebrations. Weekly video calls keep everyone updated on Padraig’s latest adventures.

Both sets of grandparents live within driving distance and are actively involved in Padraig’s life. They’re thrilled about welcoming another grandchild and fully support our adoption journey.

Family traditions we cherish include:

  • Annual hayrides in autumn
  • Summer beach vacations
  • Winter nights by the fire
  • Holiday cookie baking
  • Celebrating Christmas around the tree

Our Home in Massachusetts

We live in a spacious four-bedroom home in a family-friendly neighborhood in New England. Our house sits on a wooded lot that offers both privacy and natural beauty.

Our children will have their own bedrooms, with space for both play and quiet time. We’ve created cozy reading nooks throughout the house and have a dedicated playroom filled with books, art supplies, and toys.

Our fenced front and back yard features:

  • A large deck for outdoor meals
  • A fire pit for evening gatherings
  • A play structure with swings
  • Open grassy areas for games
  • Raised garden beds where we grow vegetables

Our neighborhood offers excellent schools, multiple parks within walking distance, and community events throughout the year. Children often play together on our quiet street while parents chat nearby.

Our Promise

We promise to create a home where your child will feel safe, loved, and encouraged to discover their unique talents and interests. We will celebrate their heritage and maintain open communication about their adoption story in age-appropriate ways.

Your child will receive:

  • Unconditional love and support
  • Quality education and opportunities to explore interests
  • Strong family values centered on kindness and respect
  • Cultural experiences that broaden their understanding of the world
  • A sibling bond with Padraig that will last a lifetime

We’re committed to maintaining whatever level of openness feels right for you, from sharing updates and photos to occasional visits, if desired. We deeply respect your role in your child’s life and the profound decision you’re making.

We’d love to talk or answer any of your questions. Please call or text Lifetime at 1.800.923.6784.

With Sincere Gratitude,

Joe and Colleen

More About Our Family

Our Special Interests

Our family has a wide array of interests and activities we enjoy pursuing together. Colleen is passionate about Irish step dancing - both performing competitively herself and teaching the lively rhythms and movements to students. She also loves reading, watching shows like MasterChef, and doing arts and crafts projects with Padraig. Joe takes great satisfaction in hands-on projects around the house, even if it means watching DIY tutorials or making repeated hardware store runs. As a former college athlete, he still prioritizes an active lifestyle through sports, hiking, and outdoor adventures.

As a family, we cherish quality time together whether that's comedy shows in the city, trying new local restaurants, or just relaxing at home with movies and pizza nights. We take full advantage of the rich cultural experiences New England offers by traveling to areas like Vermont, New Hampshire, Maine, and Rhode Island. Above all, we deeply value making lasting memories filled with laughter, connection and creating special traditions as a family.

Our Faith

Though raised in the Catholic faith, we were given the freedom by our parents to determine our own levels of engagement. Colleen attended church every Sunday growing up, while Joe typically only went on Easter and Christmas. However, after meeting Colleen, Joe rediscovered and recommitted himself to his faith, and we began regularly attending Sunday mass together, often making it a special outing by enjoying brunch in the city beforehand.

Our connections to Catholicism and spirituality grew even stronger through the adoption journey. Just prior to adopting Padraig, we visited Rome and believe the powerful prayers from that sacred week played an influential role in making our family dream a reality. We've had the profound experience of attending the Pope's visit to Philadelphia and never miss opportunities to participate in Catholic charity efforts.

Every Sunday, we deliver food to homeless shelters as a family, instilling the value of service from an early age. We also try to perform random acts of kindness in our community for those suffering or in need of support. Our faith has become an increasingly meaningful part of our lives that we look forward to sharing and passing down.

A Letter from Our Son's Birth Mother

"My experience with adoption has truly been a blessing. I feel so fortunate to see my child thriving in the loving home provided by Joe and Colleen. They go above and beyond as parents, giving Padraig a wonderful life filled with joy, stability, and caring guidance that exceeds anything I could have imagined for him.
Joe and Colleen regularly send me photos and videos, allowing me to witness firsthand the warm, compassionate environment Padraig is growing up in. Their home is filled with acceptance and unconditional love, no matter the circumstances. They haven't just welcomed my child, but have opened their lives and hearts to me and my entire family too.

I will be forever grateful to Joe and Colleen for their remarkable kindness and humility throughout this journey. Seeing Padraig's happiness in their care brings me such peace and comfort. They are nurturing him to become a caring, responsible person while surrounding him with all the joys a child could dream of. I feel truly blessed that my son has parents who love him so completely." ~A

More About Padraig's Birth

Four days before Padraig's birth, we packed our car with over a month's worth of essentials and drove 15 hours to his home city. We moved into the local Ronald McDonald House, where we befriended dozens of other families experiencing miraculous journeys - from adoptions to childhood cancer treatments. The night before Padraig's due date, we enjoyed a beautiful dinner with his birth mom and her family, instantly connecting in a profound way that felt perfectly right.

On the day Padraig was born, we nervously waited in the hospital until a nurse called us into the delivery room. Together with his birth family, we all celebrated Padraig's arrival into the world with joyful hugs, happy tears, cherished photos, and heartfelt prayers. The entire experience of welcoming our son was an incredible blessing filled with love, gratitude, and new bonds formed through this miracle of life. Holding Padraig for the first time is a memory we will forever cherish.

In Closing

Thank you for taking time to learn about our family. We understand the weight of the decision before you and hold deep respect for your thoughtfulness.

Should you choose our family, we promise to cherish your child each day, nurture their growth with patience and love, and ensure they know the depth of your care in making this plan. We welcome your questions and would be honored to speak with you. Our hearts and home are ready to welcome your child with open arms.

With sincere gratitude,
Colleen and Joe
