Thank you for taking time to get to know us through our online profile. We are so excited to become adoptive parents and have our family grow. We have always wanted to be parents and feel so blessed to be called to adoption. We look forward to sharing our favorite things, our faith, and our lives with our future children. We are open to keeping in touch with you through phone calls, texts, pictures, letters, and occasional visits, to whatever extent you are comfortable with.

About Us

We met in high school but didn’t start dating until college. We have been married for almost 7 years and enjoy life together with our 3 cats and 5 backyard chickens. We like to spend our time together watching our favorite TV shows, playing board games, taking walks around our neighborhood, and shopping local farmers’ markets. We both enjoy trips to local parks and museums, and we especially love weekends where we have time together for a date!

We have longed to grow our family for many years now and have spent much of that time preparing to be adoptive parents. We always knew we wanted to adopt, but an infertility diagnosis showed us it was something we were truly meant to pursue, sooner rather than later. We have spent hours learning as much as we can about adoption from books, podcasts, and even through attending conferences. We are a team in our marriage and know we will approach parenting the same way. We believe in having strong routines and consistency. We both have backgrounds in education and believe in providing a high quality, well-rounded education. We believe children should have the freedom to explore their passions and creativity in the education. We are so excited to add a child to our family!

Our Home in Missouri

We have a 3-bedroom ranch house in a family friendly neighborhood. We have a half-acre yard where we enjoy spending time in the warmer months gardening, caring for our chickens, barbecuing, and hosting friends and family for fireside dinners. We have five backyard chickens we love spending time with. They love exploring our yard and eating bugs! We enjoy the fresh eggs and love to share the extras with relatives in the area.

We have our nursery already set up and decorated, ready for any child any time! It is all done up in a Southwest/desert theme with cacti and llamas. Julia’s sister painted a Southwest mural for us on the wall. We are so eager to watch our child play and grow in that room.

Our home is conveniently located within walking distance of a great local park and minutes away from the historical district and fun shopping areas. We are so blessed to live in such a family friendly area with so many fun places to explore. We look forward to seeing our child play in our backyard, run around at local parks, and enjoy treats from local bakeries with us.

About John

In Julia’s Words: John is very hard-working and always has the best interests of our family in mind. He is incredibly talented, smart, and caring. I admire how he is always willing to make sacrifices and put himself second. I appreciate how he is always willing to lend a helping hand. He is always patient and loving and sees the best in me. I know I can always count on him. We make a good team and he is my rock. He will make a wonderful, fun, caring father.

In John’s Words: I come from a loving family, and I have one younger sister. We value faith, hope, love, food, music, and laughter. I am an analyst for an aerospace company, and I enjoy my job thoroughly. I like to work as a part of a team to solve complicated problems. In my off time, I enjoy spending time with my wife and pets, playing games, or playing music. I play guitar and mandolin regularly with a few different groups in town, and especially like to write music with friends. I play the mandolin at church on Sunday as well. I am so excited to share my passions with our child, but most of all, I look forward to helping them discover their own purpose and passions in life.

About Julia

In John’s Words: Julia is my very best friend and has been since the day we met. She is the most kindhearted and thoughtful person I know. She has always supported me professionally and personally to make me a better and more confident person. When I need someone to talk to, I know that she is right there and ready to listen. I admire her love for children and her God-given gift of teaching. I am certain that she will make an outstanding mother. I am truly blessed to have her in my life.

In Julia’s Words: I am the oldest of four and it definitely shows. I have always been the “teacher” of the family and I like to be organized. I feel like I have always been taking care of others and I love to do it. One of my favorite things to do for other people is make food. I love trying new recipes. I also love learning new things. One of the reasons I love creating art is because there is always a new technique or style to try. I love to crochet, paint, and write. I have always been a huge bookworm and am very proud of my book collection! My favorite animal is a cat and thankfully I have grown John into a cat lover, too! I can’t wait to become a mom and watch my child learn and grow. I am most excited for their first words and their first day of school!

Our Family & Pets

We both grew up with large families and lots of cousins; we can’t wait for our child to grow up spending time with their cousins and relatives. Julia is blessed to work at the same school as her mother and youngest sister. We visit with one side of the family or the other just about every weekend since they live so close. We also enjoy gathering with extended family for special occasions quite often. We have the full support of our family and friends in our adoption plan. We will be surrounded in love and help when we bring our child home.

Our pets are important members of our family, too! We both love animals and have always had pets. We have 2 snakes; both snakes currently live with John’s parents and sister, who take great care of them for us. We also have 5 backyard chickens who love roaming around and eating bugs. We love the fresh eggs they provide and sharing any extras we have with family members nearby. We hope our future child will grow to love animals as much as we do!

We also have 3 cats with wildly different personalities.

  • Luna our fluffy Persian. She is shy, sweet, and very cuddly.
  • Picasso our flame-point Siamese. He is feisty, loving, and playful.
  • Coconut our seal-point Siamese. He is full of kitten energy and is always getting into something!

Our Promise

Family means everything to us, and we promise you will be an important part of ours. We want our adoption plan to be as open as you would like it to be. We hope to have an open adoption so our child can know their first family and their story.

We are looking forward to sharing our favorite music and books, our weekend dates to farmer’s markets and bakeries, and our Catholic faith with any future children we may be blessed to raise. We’re excited to take them all around town to explore local parks, museums, and more! We will provide a warm and loving home, a great education, and strong faith for your child. We promise to always be there for our child and provide for them the best we can. We also look forward to getting to know more about you, your family, your favorite things, and your traditions that we can share with your child as they grow up. We hope to have continued correspondence with you as our child grows and we are open to having visits as well.

We’d love to talk or answer any of your questions. Please call or text Lifetime at 1.800.923.6784.

More About Our Family

Our Special Interests

John has been playing and writing music since middle school when he first picked up an electric guitar. Nowadays he plays gigs around town on mandolin, guitar, and sometimes bass or banjo.

Julia works as a teacher at a hybrid model school, so two days a week she gets to spend at home. If she is not privately tutoring, she likes to spend her days off gardening, reading, meal prepping, and watching TV. Julia also enjoys all different kinds of arts and crafts. She particularly enjoys crocheting and painting.

Our Favorite Family Traditions

Many of our family traditions are holiday based and we are so excited to share them with our child!
- Every Halloween, Julia's family has a themed Halloween party! Everyone dresses up, the house is decorated, and even the food is on theme!
- Every Christmas Eve, John and Julia exchange one gift. We also enjoy watching The Nightmare Before Christmas or A Christmas Story with Julia's family.
- Every Christmas, we also hide a "Christmas pickle" ornament on our tree. When we have family over, the first person to find the pickle gets to open the first present!
- Every Easter, the whole family gathers at Julia's grandparents' house. When all of the cousins were young, everyone hunted for Easter eggs in the yard. As all the cousins have begun having children, we are excited to see the Easter egg hunt coming back!

Our Values

We were both raised Catholic and are actively practicing today. We met at our Catholic high school in 2008 and became good friends through coincidentally having every single class together all of our freshman year. Our Catholic faith continues to be an important part of our daily lives. Our faith was especially important during our infertility diagnosis and in deciding how to grow our family. We attend Church at least once a week and John often plays music at Mass. Julia teaches second grade at a Catholic school and loves teaching the faith to young kids. The most important things in our lives are our families, our faith, and our marriage. We are sure to spend quality time with all of our family members as often as we can. We spend time together in prayer every day. We strengthen our relationship through daily talks and regular dates.

Discussing Adoption

We believe that it is very important to discuss adoption with our child from the very beginning. We believe in being open and honest about their adoption story and what it means to be adopted. We look forward to building a relationship with you and the rest of their birth family. Adoption is a beautiful thing, but that doesn't mean it isn't hard! We are here for you as much as we are for your child. We have several children's books about adoption that we look forward to sharing with our child to help them navigate life as an adoptee. Adoption is a wonderful blessing, and we cannot wait to share such a love-filled story with our child.

In Closing

Thank you so much for taking time to get to know us. We are so excited to grow our family through open adoption. We feel blessed to be working with Lifetime to create meaningful, lifelong connections with a birth family. We look forward to getting to know you!
