Watch Our Video

Nice to meet you! We are John and Karen. We have been married for six years and are parents to a wonderful three-year-old boy. We have always wanted to adopt and are so excited to grow our family through open adoption. We love camping, boating, the outdoors and exploring new places. We can’t wait to share these adventures with another child. We look forward to getting to know you and what you are looking for in adoptive parents.

About Us

We were introduced by friends almost 10 years ago who said we would be perfect for each other… and they were right! Together we enjoy walking our dogs, exploring the outdoors, hiking, camping, boating, skiing, relaxing on our back patio and sharing all of these things with our son. We have family dinner every night–this is very important to us.

We look forward to helping our next child explore and discover their own interests. We have highly flexible schedules and will attend all our child’s ball games, activities and school events. We look forward to helping them with their homework and learning how to read, doing flashcards together, and doing art/science projects.

About John (written by Karen)

John is:

  • An amazing dad
  • Very personable and funny
  • Loyal to his friends and family, loving, and giving
  • Very goal-oriented and methodical in how he pursues his dreams and passions

John cannot wait to share his passion for fishing, boating, and sports with another child. He is also very handy with tools, building and home improvement. He works from home running his own business, which allows for great flexibility for our family.

  • About Karen (written by John)

    Karen is:

  • An amazing mother and the heartbeat of our household
  • Extremely even keeled and never runs out of energy
  • A loving person, kind, and empathizing.

She is extremely patient, supportive, and understanding. She is a great teacher and almost always up for an adventure. Karen looks forward to sharing her love for running, dogs, plants, cooking, crafts and reading with our next child. She works at a local hospital as a pharmacist and loves taking care of our community.

  • Our Family

Extended family: John’s brother, sister-in-law, nieces and parents live 30 minutes from our house. We see them regularly for birthdays, holidays, and fun.

Karen’s parents, sisters, nieces and nephews live out of state. We regularly get together for holidays and vacations; this means fun trips to Colorado, Texas, and California for cousin time. We also connect on FaceTime between visits.

Our extended family is so excited for our adoption journey! We have several adopted family members, making this journey very meaningful.

Our son is a very curious, energetic, and fun 3-year-old. His teachers describe him as sweet, helpful to the other students, and eager to participate in activities. He will be a great big brother and will love playing with his sibling.

Our Pets: We have two dogs, Audrey and Jane. They are very much a part of our family. They join us for as many adventures as they can, even if that means just riding along in the car. They love people, running fast, and a good nap under blankets.

    Our Home in Washington State

Our home is on a small lake in the city and only a short drive to family, sporting events, restaurants, playgrounds and many activities. We have wonderful neighbors, many of whom have young kids. Our fully fenced yard provides lots of space for learning how to ride a bike, playing sports and exploring outside in a safe environment.

We have a two-story, 4-bedroom, brick house that we have had a lot of fun improving and making our own. Our next child will sleep in the same room as us for the first few months, but will have their own bedroom when they are ready. The nursery is ready for them.

    Our Promise

We promise to unconditionally love your child. We will provide a loving and supportive home with fun and adventure. We will make sure your child’s physical, social, educational, and emotional needs are met. We will teach them about God and the Catholic faith.

We welcome an open adoption and will gladly share future contact with you. We will follow your wishes on how much contact you want to keep. This can include letters, emails, videos, pictures, or scheduled visits. Your child will always know about you, so that your role in their story can be understood and celebrated.

We’d love to talk or answer any of your questions. Please call or text Lifetime at 1.800.923.6784.

    More About Our Family

    Thoughts on Parenting

We love being parents. As parents, we value: respect, encouragement, exploration, and ensuring our child's physical and emotional needs are met.

We believe all children are good inside. We believe that when a child is struggling, their needs are not being met or they do not know how to express what they need – it is our job to work together to figure it out and move through it. Our hope is that our children will grow into kind, loving and happy people. We will help them develop curiosity, creativity, confidence, empathy, resilience, and perseverance.

    A Typical Weekend

Weekends for us are about relaxing, fun, and being outside. We spend time with family and friends near and far. We experience new activities as a family, such as the nearby tidepool, hiking, boating, camping, the library, or the pumpkin patch. We are frequently outside on the weekend with the dogs, taking walks, at the playground, or playing in the yard.

    Fun Facts About Us

-John and his dad speak German and English

-Karen grew up in California, and moved to Washington after high school

-John loves boats. He loves fixing old boats and sharing adventures and good times with our friends and family.

-We live 15 minutes from the zoo, the ocean with tidepools, the children’s museum, the children's theater, and a half dozen parks.

    Our Values

We will encourage our next child to have curiosity, resilience, confidence, social awareness, social skills, empathy, and perseverance. We also strongly value education and will encourage them to seek higher education to help make their dreams come true.

One of life’s greatest gifts is the opportunity to walk a mile in everyone’s shoes and see things from their perspective.

    In Closing

Thank you for checking out our profile! We promise that your child will always be loved and encouraged in our home. They will always know about you and the important role you play in their life story.
