Hello from sweet home Alabama! We are Jon and Ashlee and are excited to welcome a little one into our home! We love to travel and explore new places, but our favorite destination is the beach. We are foodies and love to find new, local restaurants to check out. We enjoy spending quality time together and the holidays are our favorite time of the year. We look forward to creating many happy memories together as a family of three! We have a cute little rescue dog named Lila Blue, so make that four. 😊

We are thankful you are here on our page and look forward to getting to know more about you! Please feel free to reach out and we are excited to chat with you soon!

About Us

We are so thankful for each other and have been married for almost 11 years. We met through mutual friends at a homecoming game, and the rest is history! We got engaged at the beach, then a few months later we got married under a big oak tree in the fall.

Things we like to do together:

  • DIY projects
  • Finding new local restaurants to check out around our city
  • Traveling
  • Going to concerts, football games or the ballet

Meet Ashlee

Hey there! I am really excited to get to know you and be there for you during your pregnancy. As our child grows up, I look forward to watching them achieve their dreams and goals. I will love and support them and help guide them through. I am excited to be a Mom!

I have a degree in elementary education and have a big heart and patience for little kiddos! These days I work in the wedding industry and enjoy helping brides with wedding plans. I also have a blog sharing my love of DIYs and home décor. I work from home and have a flexible schedule, so I will be a stay-at-home mom. I’m excited to plan fun family activities and family vacations.

A few of my hobbies:

  • Photography
  • Crafts and DIY projects around the house
  • Baking (I love to bake homemade bread!)
  • Music
  • Dance

I am originally from Illinois and enjoy spending time with family and friends. I look forward to coaching a sports team that our child might be interested in playing. I love sports, especially football and basketball. I am a small group leader at our church and will share God’s love with your child.

A few of my hobbies:

  • Hiking
  • Running
  • Basketball

Meet the Family

We have a large, loving extended family that we enjoy spending time with. Our whole family is excited about our plans to adopt and look forward to being a part of our child’s life. We have family in Alabama, Arizona, Georgia, Illinois, Mississippi, and Ohio.

There are a lot of nieces and nephews that are excited about a new cousin! We have six nephews that range in age from eighteen to three years old. There are four nieces that are thirteen to one years old!  The younger children (ages 1, 3 and 5) live nearby, and our child will grow up close in age with them. The teenagers are super cool and will be great role models, too!

We love get-togethers with family and have a relaxed atmosphere where everyone enjoys being together. We get together monthly with family that live nearby and go to the Splash Pad, the pool and playground. For our family that lives farther away, we love to see them at Thanksgiving when everyone comes together. We keep in touch regularly through FaceTime and phone calls with them.

Our Home in Sweet Home Alabama

Our home is warm and inviting and located in a safe neighborhood. Our neighbors are friendly and there are a lot of kids that play together outside. We have put a lot of time and energy into updating our home, which is zoned for one of the top school districts in our state for the best education possible. We enjoy walking around the neighborhood with our dog, Lila Blue.

Our home is a cozy one-story ranch style house and includes:

  • 3 spacious bedrooms
  • Kitchen for all the baking
  • Large living room for family movie nights
  • Dining room for family meals together
  • Home office
  • We have a nursery filled with toys and books, and we have collected children’s books about adoption.
  • We have a spacious, fenced in backyard with lots of room to run and play outside. There is a swing set in our backyard, a patio for grilling out, and a screened in back porch. There is a local park, schools, restaurants, churches and a community playground nearby.

Our neighborhood has a fun tradition on Halloween! The local fire department drives a fire truck into the neighborhood and all the children and families meet at the entrance. The children get to trick-or-treat from the firetruck and then they have a parade down the street, and it kicks off trick-or-treating!

    Our Promise to You

If you choose us to adopt your child, we will love him or her and give them a nurturing home filled with love, happiness, peace and security. We promise to support your child and always be there for them. We promise to be patient and provide a safe, stable, loving home for your child to grow up in. We will take your child to church and teach him or her about God’s love for them. We promise to instill a heart for others and teach them about kindness and respect. We will give him or her all the opportunities possible and take vacations together. We will help him or her find their purpose. We will help them with their education. We will enroll him or her in dance lessons, basketball, or other sports/hobbies they are interested in pursuing. Your child will know how loved and cherished they are.

We will share their adoption story and they will grow up knowing how deep your love is for them. You will be an important part of our family! We are open to phone calls, occasional visits, and sharing pictures and letters with you. We are happy to chat about the level of contact you desire.

    More About Our Family

    Our Dog, Lila Blue

Lila Blue is our sweet rescue dog and she just turned 7. She is an English Setter/Great Pyrenees mix and is so cuddly! She loves playing football in the backyard with us and taking walks around the neighborhood. Cheese is her favorite treat, and she loves a good belly rub. Lila Blue loves people and will be very gentle with our child. Lila Blue has had lessons to work with children and she is excited to meet her future best friend!

    Our Family Traditions

We look forward to sharing our family traditions and starting new ones together as a family of three!

    Fall Traditions:
•Going to the pumpkin patch with family.
•For Thanksgiving, we travel to Illinois to see family and friends and spend the holiday together. Our family rents a cabin in the Wisconsin Dells to have our Thanksgiving feast together, then it’s time for football. And since they’re from Illinois – we’re rooting for the Bears!

    Christmas Traditions:
•We make a smorgasbord of delicious food on Christmas Eve as a family. Then we put on our matching Christmas pajamas and watch a holiday movie.
•Ordering Chinese takeout and watching A Christmas Story.
•Baking "Monster" Gingerbread Cookies as a family!

    Why We're Hoping to Adopt

We’ve been through infertility, but our dream to become parents never changed. We quickly realized there were other ways we could grow our family and feel called to adopt. God has big plans for our future family through adoption. We have researched and learned about adoption and will continue to learn about it. We know that we would love a child that we were blessed with through adoption. Our hearts have grown in love for him or her already!

    Plans for our Child's Education

We realize the importance of education, especially because Ashlee has a degree and background in this area. We want to instill a love of learning.

Our plans for education would be:
•Enroll in Early Preschool classes to have interactions with other children and set the foundation for learning experiences.

    • Kindergarten–12th grade we will help them with their homework and study with them. We will make sure they have all the supplies and tools needed to succeed. If they need additional help, we will get a tutor for them. We will be involved in his or her school by helping the teachers and attending school events and functions.

•College: we will start a College Savings Fund. We will help them apply to the schools they’re interested in attending. If they decide to go to a vocational school or not go to college, that’s okay, too! We will be there to support them with whatever they decide to do and help them achieve their goals.

    In Closing

Thank you for taking the time to read our profile and considering us to be the adoptive parents of your child. We will love and support your child and look forward to watching them achieve their dreams and goals. We also look forward to starting new family traditions, happy holidays, dance recitals or football games, and so much more - we can't wait to share it all with our child. We're looking forward to keeping in touch with you throughout your child's life and are open to the level of contact you choose.
