Hello! Becoming parents has been one of the greatest joys of our lives. We adopted our daughter at birth and have an amazing connection with her birth parents. Every day we try to be great parents, not only for our little girl, but also because of our commitment to her birth parents who put so much heart and trust in us as adoptive parents. Now we’re excited and ready to grow our family through open adoption again! It would be an honor to learn more about you and your child.

Our Story

How we met: A mutual friend introduced us to each other when we were all at a celebration for that friend’s new job. The next day we had a day-date at the art museum to hear a lecture on body art around the world. Fast forward and we’ve been happily married for 7 years and proud adoptive parents for 3 years.

Together we enjoy:
• Exploring parks in the city
• Nature hikes or walks around the neighborhood
• Going to the museums to look at fossils
• Volunteer at the local Catholic church’s community events
• Planning fun things to do with our daughter

Meet Linden

Jon says: Linden is smart, caring, and hardworking. She keeps us organized and makes sure we eat healthy and stay active. Linden loves to plan ahead and keeps us ready for anything. Even though her taste in music is different than mine, she still keeps me company at concerts. My wife is welcoming and supportive to my whole family and has been a great, patient, and nurturing mother to Melody.

Linden likes:
• Museums
• Watching movies or indie films
• Gardening
• Cooking new healthy recipes
• Seeing local theater productions

Fun Fact: “I enjoy trying new teas and painting my nails or coloring my hair in fun colors.”

Meet Jon

Linden says: Jon loves keeping the family active and fills our weekends with fun activities like going to the zoo, museums, or the park. He is a very involved dad who helps with the hard work and the fun things. Jon puts family-time first over anything else. He enjoys getting out of the house to get friends together for fun or to help each other. My hard-working husband is never lazy and will work on anything that needs done around the house.

Jon likes:
• Meeting friends for coffee or to try a new restaurant
• Learning trades and skills for home projects
• Audiobooks (fantasy stories are my favorite!)
• Working on cars
• Exercising

Fun Fact: “I used to breakdance in college and sometimes I’ll find an empty studio at the gym to blast music and dance like nobody is watching.”

Life in Our Family

Our Daughter: Melody is our gentle, observant 3 year old. She loves being around children and does a great job including her friends in activities. Melody is into reading books and playing pretend. She’s an awesome little girl and it’s been fun to watch her personality grow and shine!

We have been open with Melody about her adoption story from the start. As she grows we will continue to be honest when she has questions or wants to know more about how we became a family. We enjoy sharing updates with her birth parents and look forward to seeing their connection with Melody grow as she gets older too.

As a family we enjoy:
• Playing make-believe
• Reading children’s stories
• Going to the park
• Summers at the splash pad or running in our sprinklers
• Wintertime trips to museums or the library
• Shopping (Melody loves the toy store or looking for holiday decorations)
• Dinners with family or friends

Our Home in Ohio

We live in Southern Ohio in the city. Our home is only 10 minutes from downtown and within walking distance of restaurants, coffee shops, grocery stores, the library, and parks. It’s fun to be able to walk almost anywhere we want to go and to get to enjoy the community. We have 4 bedrooms and an open living space that makes it easy to spend time together no matter what we’re doing. One of the rooms is already set up for our future child’s nursery and we’ll have fun personalizing it after we adopt. The backyard is fenced and has a deck perfect for relaxing or playing outside. This has been a great place to raise our little family!

Thoughts from Our Hearts

We love being parents and want our children to grow up knowing they are loved, respected, and safe. We will provide stability and opportunity to have access to any activities that interest them. Education is important to us and we’ll encourage our children to have fun with learning and the chance to pursue their goals in school. We promise to love and cherish your child, support them through anything, build their confidence, and help them grow and learn as an individual.

Open adoption has been an incredible honor and blessing to experience through our daughter. Our children will always hear us talk honestly and lovingly about how we were chosen to become their adoptive family. Your child will know how important you are to us all. If you’d like to stay in touch and have a connection with us and your child after the adoption, we’re here for it. We’d love to hear what open adoption could look like for you, answer any questions, or get to know you more: call or text Lifetime at 1.800.923.6784.

Thoughtfully, Jon & Linden

More About Our Family

What Adoption Means to Us

Adoption has a special place in our hearts because we have many friends and family who have been touched by adoption themselves. We know loved ones who have been adopted into their families, who have adopted children, or who have placed a child for adoption themselves. Their experiences led us to want to grow our family through adoption and now we can see the beauty of adoption through our own story. Having a personal connection with our daughter’s birth parents has been more than we ever dreamed. They are a special part of our lives and we enjoy staying in touch with them regularly. We text often, sharing updates and photos, and every year we plan a trip to spend time with them in December. Because of adoption, we have an amazing daughter who we adore, and an even bigger family to love, and who loves her. We love open adoption and will honor it in the way that makes sense and is comfortable for you too.

Our Loved Ones

Our whole circle of family and friends has been so supportive of our adoption story. Linden’s grandpa was adopted too, which has been a special connection for us as we grow our own family this way. Everyone we love is excited to welcome the next child we adopt! Our loved ones like coming for visits and are always there to help us out if needed. We each grew up with an older sister, so we love thinking of Melody with a little brother or sister to bond with too. Our families live within a few hours driving distance and we enjoy trips to each other’s homes and holidays spent together.

What Matters to Us

We believe in being present and in the moment, especially to make memories from quality time in the little things as much as in the big things. We value honesty, trust, and open communication. As parents, we believe it’s important to give our children our love and attention, so they know they are loved, cared for, and appreciated. We put each other first and make time for family.

Family Traditions We Love

• Weekend dinners with our close friends
• Thanksgiving with Jon’s family to eat, play at the park, and watch a movie as a family
• Christmas with Linden’s family where we enjoy time with the grandparents and cousins, and have delicious food
• Fourth of July swimming at Linden’s parents’ home
• Dance parties, baking cookies, and board games with our nieces and nephews when they visit our house

In Closing

We've had such a positive and encouraging experience with open adoption and look forward to growing our family this way again. We love being parents and our daughter will be an awesome big sister! It would be an honor to learn more about you and your child, and to talk about what it could look like to have a connection together through the adoption process and beyond. Thank you for considering us and learning about our family and the life we'd love to share with your little one. You would always have a special place in our hearts and as a part of our family.
