Hello from Tennessee! We are a Christ-centered, homeschooling, creative family of four. We have had it on our hearts to adopt for several years now. Thank you for learning more about us and what life looks like in our family. We hope to get to know you soon!
About Us
We met in an art class while attending a small-town university. After a few weeks of friendship, we started dating, during which we learned that adoption had been on each of our hearts for a number of years. One year later we tied the knot!
Kristen studied interior design in college and Lance studied graphic design. Lance later completed a Master’s degree in Ministry, and in 2012, we boarded a plane and moved to the little country of New Zealand. We lived there for nine years while we worked with a church in Wellington. Our two sons, Asher and Silas, were both born in New Zealand. The New Zealand lifestyle taught us to enjoy our surroundings (it is so beautiful there!), to have a healthy family/work balance, and to appreciate the richness of different cultures. Lance now works as an author, as well as an online content creator of Bible studies while managing a successful YouTube channel. Kristen is a stay-at-home mother and homeschool teacher.
At home we play hard and work hard. We enjoy board games and silly stories, movies, and shows. We travel frequently and are constantly creating something. Although we live life to the fullest to the best of our abilities, we believe our lives are not complete just yet. We are still waiting for God to help us complete our family through adoption.
About Kristen
Lance says: In our fast-paced world, I am incredibly thankful for Kristen, who helps us see love, beauty, and God in the little things. Watching her nurture our children into loving individuals is a daily treasure. She encourages us all to develop our talents and pursue our interests, always keeping our family’s goals in mind. Kristen loves guiding our children through reading, playing, and weekly adventures. She also excels at keeping them connected to our extended family. She looks forward to sharing her love of art and all of the sweet snuggles of having a little one in the home.

About Lance
Kristen says: Lance is truly one of a kind—patient, sweet, and funny, making him an amazing father and husband. His gentle nature in both speech and action is what I love most about him. He is a hard worker and provides well for us. He makes time for family and is great at playing games with the kids and reading to them before bed. He is a mega Lord of the Rings and Hobbit nerd (you should see his office!), and he’s excited to share this passion with another child. He loves his coffee twice a day and always has a great dad joke ready to keep us smiling.

Our Sons and Family
Our Sons…
Silas, our 11-year-old, is a builder at heart and a natural leader who dreams of becoming an engineer. The things this kid can create with Legos are incredible and he is a Rubik’s cube ninja. He’s thrilled about having a new sibling to teach “cool stuff.”
Asher, our 8-year-old, is a gentle, loving soul who loves helping mom and dad with our different projects. He enjoys doing flips and playing the drums. He often runs around the house singing that he is happy. He makes friends with everyone he meets and will be a sweet, helpful big brother.
Extended Family: We cherish our close-knit extended family, enjoying holidays and spontaneous visits together. Grandparents are nearby, so we are able to see them often. They are a great support to us and are thrilled to welcome another grandchild through adoption! We’re also blessed with a wonderful church family, who are excited to love and spoil a new little one.
Our Home in Tennessee
We live in a spacious, open-plan, 4-bedroom home sitting on three acres just outside the city limits. We loved preparing the teddy bear themed nursery, and it is ready to welcome the newest family member! Our yard is perfect for exploring nature and we enjoy a nice, long driveway for riding scooters and bikes. Our cat (Shire) and our dog (Rosie) are both great with kids. We love visiting nearby friends and enjoy the local activities near us. We’re also close to a beautiful State Park!
Our Promise
Thank you for considering us as adoptive parents for your little one. We promise to love them with all our hearts and cherish their unique qualities. We’ll nurture their talents and provide a safe, stable, and loving home where they can thrive. We’ll share our faith and model Christ’s love in our lives. You will always be spoken of with the utmost love and respect. We welcome sharing visits, photos, letters, and achievements with you, respecting your comfort level. We deeply appreciate you and this opportunity.

More About Our Family
Family Traditions
Family Fridays --- Every Friday, we either go out to eat as a family or get something to bring back home. We spend the evening just enjoying our time together as a family—playing games, watching a movie, or working on a project together.
Christmas --- We have continued a tradition we learned in New Zealand...sitting down to the Christmas meal and snapping open Christmas crackers together. They are like large poppers with a silly joke, a paper crown, and little toys inside. This past year we began a new Christmas breakfast tradition of having a pancake decorating contest!
Birthdays --- We make a cake together the day before. On the day, we sing and open gifts. The birthday person gets to pick what they want to do on their special day. That might be anything—go eat somewhere special, go watch a movie at the theater, or go shopping!
Travel
We love seeing different parts of the world! Traveling gives us such a great appreciation for people, cultures, history, and varying landscapes.
Where we have been:
- 30 different states
- Bonaire (in the Caribbean)
- Lived and worked in New Zealand (where the Lord of the Rings and Hobbit trilogies were filmed!) for nine years.
- (Lance) all over Europe
- (Lance) Fiji
Where we plan to travel in the future:
- Hawaii
- European tour (Spain, France, Italy, Germany, Switzerland, Belgium, Ireland)
- Holy Lands Tour
- New Zealand
Hopeful travel:
- Japan
- Brazil
- Egypt
- Canada
We look forward to taking our children to all these amazing places.
Evening Routine
Family meals are our time to connect, sharing our hopes, dreams, questions, and concerns. Before bed, we gather for “Bible Time” to sing a hymn and pray together. Each child then picks a story—Asher is getting into chapter books, while Silas is deep into The Lord of the Rings and the Hardy Boys series. These moments help us wind down and end our days with love and togetherness.
The Beauty of Homeschooling
The biggest perk of homeschooling is its flexibility!
Here are some other benefits:
-Schoolwork can be done anytime and anywhere during the day
-Playdates with friends during the weekdays
-Traveling to tourist destinations when they aren't busy
-Finding activities and curriculum catered to specific talents
-Life skills are learned everyday
-Time for free-play which encourages creative and independent thinking
We LOVE our homeschool life!
In Closing
Now, your family and our family have a chance for our stories to come together.
We have so much respect for you, and we hope you’re comforted while you picture the love and adventures your child will share in life. We will do our best to teach them about God and provide opportunities to bloom into who they were created to be. If it is your wish, we would love to share this journey with you through visits, pictures, and letters. We are praying for you.
