Hello from Tennessee! We are a Christ-centered, homeschooling, creative family of four who enjoy family time, exploring new places, and appreciating the world’s beauty. We are thrilled to add a precious one to our family through adoption.
About Us
“Creative” is a word often attributed to all four members of our family. Our story began in a university art class where we met. During our time dating, we discovered that adoption had been a shared dream for years. We married in 2008 while working as sign makers and finishing our studies—Kristen in interior design and Lance in graphic design and ministry.
In 2012, we moved to New Zealand, living there for nine years while working with a church in Wellington. Our sons, Asher and Silas, were born there. The New Zealand lifestyle taught us to appreciate our surroundings, maintain a healthy family/work balance, and embrace the beauty of different cultures.
Since returning to the United States in 2021, Lance has been a digital content creator and runs a successful YouTube channel. He has published six books and is writing several more. Kristen is a stay-at-home mother and homeschool teacher.
During our free time, we enjoy:
*Board games
*Silly or adventure movies/shows
*Traveling
*Anything and everything creative
About Kristen
Lance says: In our fast-paced world, I am incredibly thankful for Kristen, who helps us see love, beauty, and God in the little things. Watching her nurture our children into loving individuals is a daily treasure. She encourages us all to develop our talents and pursue our interests, always keeping our family’s goals in mind. Kristen loves guiding our children through reading, playing, and weekly adventures. She also excels at keeping them connected to our extended family.
Hobbies:
*Sewing and embroidery
*Interior Decorating
*Planning family adventures
*Reading
*Browsing IKEA
About Lance
Kristen says: Lance is truly one of a kind—patient, sweet, and funny, making him an amazing father and husband. His gentle nature in both speech and action is what I love most about him. A hard worker, he provides well for our family and always makes time to play games with the kids and read to them before bed. As a mega Lord of the Rings and Hobbit nerd, he’s excited to share this passion with another child. He loves his coffee twice a day and always has a great dad joke ready to keep us smiling.
Hobbies:
*Woodworking
*Writing
*3D printing and laser engraving
*Landscape photography
*Playing and listening to music
Our Sons and Family
Our Sons: Silas, our 10-year-old, is a builder at heart and a natural leader who dreams of becoming an engineer. He’s thrilled about having a new sibling to teach “cool stuff.”
Asher, our 7-year-old, is a gentle, loving soul who loves pretending to be a cat, dog, or ninja. He adores everyone he meets and will be a sweet, helpful big brother.
Extended Family: We cherish our close-knit extended family, and it’s such a blessing to live near them. The grandparents, who share our dream of adoption, are thrilled to welcome another grandchild. We’re also blessed with a wonderful church family, who are excited to love and spoil a new little one.
Our Home in Tennessee
We live in an open-plan, 4-bedroom home that sits on 3 acres of land just outside the city limits. We love having plenty of room to run around and enjoy nature. We are near a fantastic library that offers several great programs, as well as a couple of state parks. We’re also not too far from some great museums and the zoo.
Our cat, Shire, also lives on our home and is sweet and great with kids.
Our Promise
Thank you for considering us as adoptive parents for your little one. We promise to love them with all our hearts and cherish their unique qualities. We’ll nurture their talents and provide a safe, stable, and loving home where they can thrive. We’ll share our faith and model Christ’s love in our lives. You will always be spoken of with the utmost love and respect. We welcome sharing visits, photos, letters, and achievements with you, respecting your comfort level. We deeply appreciate you and this opportunity.

More About Our Family
Family Traditions
Family Fridays --- Every Friday, we either go out to eat as a family or get something to bring back home. We spend the evening just enjoying our time together as a family—playing games, watching a movie, or working on a project together.
Christmas --- We have continued a tradition we learned in New Zealand...sitting down to the Christmas meal and snapping open Christmas crackers together. They are like large poppers with a silly joke, a paper crown, and little toys inside. This past year we began a new Christmas breakfast tradition of having a pancake decorating contest!
Birthdays --- We make a cake together the day before. On the day, we sing and open gifts. The birthday person gets to pick what they want to do on their special day. That might be anything—go eat somewhere special, go watch a movie at the theater, or go on a swamp tour!
Travel
We love seeing different parts of the world! Traveling gives us such a great appreciation for people, cultures, history, and varying landscapes.
Where we have been:
- 30 different states
- Bonaire (in the Caribbean)
- Lived and worked in New Zealand (where the Lord of the Rings and Hobbit trilogies were filmed!) for nine years.
- (Lance) all over Europe
- (Lance) Fiji
Where we plan to travel in the future:
- Hawaii
- European tour (Spain, France, Italy, Germany, Switzerland, Belgium, Ireland)
- Holy Lands Tour
- New Zealand
Hopeful travel:
- Japan
- Brazil
- Egypt
- Canada
We look forward to taking our children to all these amazing places.
Evening Routine
Family meals are our time to connect, sharing our hopes, dreams, questions, and concerns. Before bed, we gather for “Bible Time” to sing a hymn and pray together. Each child then picks a story—Asher is getting into chapter books, while Silas is deep into The Wingfeather Saga. These moments help us wind down and end our days with love and togetherness.
The Beauty of Homeschooling
The biggest perk of homeschooling is its flexibility!
Here are some other benefits:
-Schoolwork can be done anytime and anywhere during the day
-Playdates with friends during the weekdays
-Traveling to tourist destinations when they aren't busy
-Finding activities and curriculum catered to specific talents
-Life skills are learned everyday
-Time for free-play which encourages creative and independent thinking
We LOVE our homeschool life!
In Closing
Now, your family and our family have a chance for our stories to come together.
We have so much respect for you, and we hope you’re comforted while you picture the love and adventures your child will share in life. We will do our best to teach them about God and provide opportunities to bloom into who they were created to be. If it is your wish, we would love to share this journey with you through visits, pictures, and letters. We are praying for you.
