Watch Our Video

Hello from beautiful Colorado! We are a close-knit family where love, laughter, and supporting each other are the foundation of all that we do. Our lives are marked by strong faith, family values, and facing the world with open arms and full hearts. Plus, we have a lot of fun together, especially if it’s outdoors! Being parents to our two boys has been amazing. We love cheering them on at every game, recital, or school event, and celebrating who they are as individuals. Adoption has been on our hearts as we think about growing our family again. We believe adoption is a chance to share a bond built on unconditional love and support, and we’d be honored to share that unique bond with you and your child. Hope to talk with you!

A Little About Us

Our Story: We met at a wedding when Luke’s cousin married Karla’s college friend. At the wedding, it was like Luke went mute and Karla had to press him to speak to her. Time has (happily!) flown since then, and we’ve been married for over 12 years. We’ve always wanted another child and to become a family of five. After Karla had complications with our last pregnancy, we were advised not to try to get pregnant again. We believe we’ve been called to adoption and it’s so exciting to think about growing our family this way.

Things we love doing together:
• Camping in our trailer
• Fishing
• Kayaking or playing in the water
• Traveling with our kids
• Barbecuing in our back yard
• Relaxing on the patio by the wood stove
• Swimming

This is Karla

Luke says: Karla is the most compassionate, loving mother. She has a strong faith in God and is always thinking about what’s best for our family. Karla works hard, leads by example, and teaches our children to do the same. She always brings a unique perspective and tries to find ways to relate to others and make them feel loved. Karla cares for so many people and would do anything to be there for someone she knows is in need, a trait that shines through her work as a nurse and role as a mother. Plus, she’s a really fun mom!

Karla enjoys:
• Gardening
• Home improvement or craft projects
• Baking amazing birthday cakes (every year is a new theme!)
• Volunteering at our boys’ school & on the Parent Teacher Association
• Ice skating or snowboarding

This is Luke

Karla says: Luke is a family man who puts God first and teaches our boys that everything will fall into place if we just have faith. He’s a great dad and uses a lot of his time to coach our boys in football, basketball, and baseball. I know he loves the memories he’s making for and with our children through sports. Luke values education and is always there to help with homework. He’s a thoughtful, good husband who finds ways to show me how much he loves me, sometimes for no reason at all. Luke is patient and kind, looks out for our family, and works to be someone our children look up to.

Luke enjoys:
• Serving as a volunteer at the assisted living home
• Coaching our boys’ sports
• Completing projects around the house
• Teaching our boys fix-it skills
• Installing commercial pools and splash pads for local city parks

Family Life

Our Boys: We have two sons, Kolton (11) and Kason (8). Kolton is our athlete who works hard in school and in sports. He’s already a great big brother, always looking out for his younger brother. Kason is our sweetheart who loves babies. He will also be a good big brother and has already been trying to buy baby things for his future little sister.

A few of our favorite family activities:
• Sports, whether we’re playing or attending
• Pool time with cousins
• Movie nights
• Exploring state parks in the RV
• Going to our grandmother’s cabin and walking to the local ice cream shops
• Vacations to visit a place we’ve never seen before
• Planting a vegetable garden from seed every year
• Camping and fishing with our whole extended family

Our Home in Colorado

We live in a ranch-style home with four bedrooms in a small community of a few thousand people. It’s a nice neighborhood, close to the schools and a short walk to the park. Our family lives on the same block too, so we see cousins, aunts, uncles, and grandparents all the time. We’re just outside of a major city where we enjoy the movies and the zoo. And we’re only 45 minutes from our favorite fishing pond or the mountains, so it’s easy to go play in the snow or get out hiking.

Our house is close to an empty lot where the boys love to play baseball (they call it their sandlot!). Inside we have a finished basement with a ping pong table, foosball, and air hockey. Our yard is roomy with a pool, swing set, patio, and a lawn to play in. This has been a wonderful place to raise our family and we’re excited to decorate a nursery for our new little one after we adopt.

Our Promise

We are so thankful for your time to consider us as adoptive parents for your little girl. Our family believes in putting others first and finding ways to show them they are loved. We want this baby to know who she is and where she came from. You would always have a special place in our hearts and we’ll make sure your child knows her adoption came out of love. She will grow up knowing how our family came together and that we’re here for her when she has questions about her story.

If you want ongoing contact with us, we’re open to different types of communication so we can keep in touch and share updates. We’d love to discuss what you picture an open adoption looking like, and what kind of connection you’re comfortable having with us. We’d love to talk or answer any of your questions. Just call or text Lifetime at 1.800.923.6784.

Thoughtfully, Luke & Karla

More About Our Family

Fun Facts

Karla has a super silly side and loves to make people laugh.

Luke likes to dress up for the holidays! He’s been the Easter Bunny, Santa, and has crazy Fourth of July outfits. His costumes always surprise everyone and make the kids smile.

Our Values

We care deeply about personal growth and community. Hard work teaches us how to keep going, and integrity helps us do things with honesty; kindness reminds us to treat others with compassion, and respect keeps us focused on the unique worth of others around us. As parents, we also try to teach our children to embrace challenges or even times they fail, because those are times when we can learn, grow, and build resilience. Our faith is important to us as well. We attend a Catholic church where we are both Bible study teachers (Karla teaches the teen girls and Luke helps with the second graders).

Our Extended Family

Our family is big, with many of our loved ones living in our neighborhood or in Colorado. We come from a diverse group of loved ones who are accepting of others and always there for each other. We spend holidays and birthdays together, and we all like to go to the kids’ sports events, recitals, and school functions. We have 1 nephew and 5 nieces, who we adore and our boys love spending time with. Everyone is excited about our plans to adopt! Karla even has an aunt who was adopted and she’s been one of our biggest supporters in this process.

Our Dogs

We have 3 awesome dogs! Tabby is a Shih tzu-Yorkie mix who is very calm and loves naps. Then we have 2 German Short Haired Pointers; Tarzan, who loves to play with our boys, and Cece who adores everyone and just wants to be loved on. Our dogs are great family pets who are very good with people of all ages.

In Closing

We'd love to talk with you about the hopes you have for your child, and to answer any questions you have about us or what adoption with us could be like. It means so much to us to be considered as an adoptive family for your little one. We love being parents and have hoped to grow our family again for some time. It's exciting to be in this process to adopt and we look forward to seeing where this journey will lead us all. To connect with us, just ask Lifetime to set up a call or video chat.
