Hi! We’ve dreamed of raising a child together and are so thankful to be in this process to adopt our first child. Creativity is a big part of our lives: Michael plays music in his free time and Beverly is an artist and art teacher. Family is the backbone of our whole relationship. Everything we’ve been through as a couple has made us into the people we are today, stronger than ever as individuals and as a couple. We would be honored and blessed to become adoptive parents to your child and would love the chance to have an ongoing connection with you too.
A Little About Our Story Together
How we met, as told by Michael: We are high school sweethearts! Beverly and I met at the Catholic High School we attended, and we started dating when we were sophomores. We got married after having a long-distance relationship through college. Our love has stayed strong as a couple and we hope to share that love with a child one day.
Things we love to do:
• Playing outside with our dogs
• Cooking and grilling (especially for steak night Tuesdays!)
• Board games or card games with our families (they can get a little competitive!)
• Going to the gym
• Trying new healthy recipes
• Attending baseball games
• Throwing the football around (our favorite pool or beach activity!)
• Go to Sunday mass with our families and participate in our church’s events
• Meal-prepping for our lunches during the work week
• Lakeside campfires with family
This is Beverly
I teach art to pre-K up to eighth grade students and it’s the best job in the world! I currently work with 450 children and love seeing how their creativity plays out at different ages.
According to Michael: Beverly is creative, kind, gentle, and compassionate with everyone she meets. I 100% believe she will be a great mother. Beverly has a passion for teaching and helping kids. If our child wants to do messy arts and crafts, roll around in the grass, or set up a picnic, Beverly will be right there in the fun. As an adoptive mom, she will be our child’s biggest cheerleader!
Beverly likes:
• Art and painting
• Cake decorating
• Writing
• Reading (I met my goal to read 50 books in one year!)
Here's Michael
My background is in Information Technology and Systems and I work as an IT Auditor for an energy generation company. I make sure our programs are secure and avoid cyber risk.
According to Beverly: Michael is the most kind, thoughtful, loyal, and fun person I know. He is charismatic and easily wins over everyone he meets. My husband is smart and a problem solver too. I’m excited to see him become a father! He is going to be a dad who plays and gets silly with our kids, bringing out the best in them. I know he’s excited to share his love of sports (watching and playing) with a little one too. Michael will encourage our children to follow their passions and support them in any way he can.
Michael likes:
• Watching sports of all kinds (especially soccer, football, basketball, and baseball)
• Going to the river or lake to float on the water or fish
• Listening to music (always on the search for new music!)
• Playing the guitar or drums
• Video games
Our Home in Texas
We live in a southeast Texas suburb in a safe, family-oriented neighborhood. There are many restaurants, schools, and stores nearby. Our church is within 15 minutes of our home too (that’s also where Beverly works!). It’s fun to drive to downtown and visit the museums, parks, and theaters. The best thing about living here is how close we are to our families, which allows us to get together often.
Our house is on a cul-de-sac and we have a calm front yard, with little to no traffic. The back yard is huge and a great space for playing with the dogs, or setting up a playset one day. We’ve already cleaned out a bedroom for the nursery and have started filling it with baby essentials. Beverly is excited to paint a mural on the nursery wall for the baby.
Pets: We have two dogs, Wesley and Sawyer. They are loving, playful dogs who love people. Our dogs are big love bugs!
Our Families
We both come from a large Catholic family who are very close and involved in each other’s lives. We love it! Our families get together almost every week. We take turns hosting game nights (Michael’s family loves the strategy games like Dungeons & Dragons and Settlers of Catan), summer barbecues, birthday celebrations, and holidays. We love pool parties at Beverly’s parents’ home too. (It will be so fun to take swim lessons with our child from an early age!) The child we adopt will be the first grandchild on both sides. Everyone is happy and excited to meet the child who we’ll be blessed to adopt.
From Our Hearts
Thank you for considering us as adoptive parents for your child. We’re so excited to become an adoptive family and to give a child a wonderful life. We promise to love this little boy or girl unconditionally and raise them in a gentle, loving household full of fun and magical memories. It is important to us for you to know that we will do everything we can to give your child the life you have dreamed for them.
We will:
• Raise a child to be honest and kind.
• Show the value of helping others and trying your best.
• Give him or her the tools needed to face anything they go through in life.
• Be there for our child whenever they need us.
• Provide a solid education and ability to pursue their interests or develop their talents.
• Be open, from the start, with our child about our family’s adoption story, ready to listen and discuss their questions.
We are very comfortable with the possibilities of open adoption and will gladly share updates and a connection with you as your child grows up. We’d love to talk about what you picture for your child’s adoption and the kind of contact you’d like with us. We hope to get to know you and talk with you soon! More About Our Family
Why We're Hoping to Adopt
Beverly shares: Raising children together has always been part of our plan as a couple. Just before we were married, Michael went through cancer treatment. We both agreed early on that if the treatments left us unable to have children biologically that we’d love to adopt a child. Now Michael is healthy and better, with a very positive future ahead, and we’re excited about building a family through adoption!
Fun Facts
Beverly: I just completed my Master’s Degree in Children’s Book Writing and Illustrating and am excited to write stories for my children!
Michael: I love Texas sports, especially Houston teams! My friends know if an Astros or Texans game is on, I’ll be watching. I love to attend games too! It will be fun to teach my children about sports and hopes to coach our children's sports teams one day.
What Matters the Most to Us
Family! We have an amazingly supportive family and we spend a lot of time with them. It’s true that it “takes a village” and we both grew up leaning on our parents, as well as aunts, uncles, and grandparents. It’s important to us that we pass on our value for family, and cherishing connections with loved ones, to any child who joins our story.
Adoption in Our Family
Michael has a relative who placed a child for adoption years ago. Her son is an adult now and they were both at a recent family reunion with us. We talked with them about their experience with adoption and they gave us some wonderful tips about the special dynamic between a child’s birth mother, the adoptive parents, and the child. They shared how they’ve kept in touch over the years as well. It’s a blessing to have this kind of insight into adoption, right here in our own family.
In Closing
Thank you for this opportunity to tell you about the life we'd love to share with your child through adoption. If you choose us as adoptive parents, we will raise your child to know how important you are to us and about the special place you will always hold in our hearts. We welcome an open adoption with you and will be happy to share updates, photos, and even occasional visits, as your child grows up. We'd love to answer any questions and learn more about you too! Ask Lifetime about us to set up a phone or video chat.
