Hello from Michigan! We are Brittany and Michael, a fun and loving couple just trying to live out our dreams in every way possible. Life is an adventure, and we are ready to share this journey with a sweet little one by our side. Our family is built on kindness, honesty, and gratitude and we will strive every day to live by those values. We believe God has a plan for all of us and that you have found our profile for a reason.

About Us

We met 8 years ago shortly after Brittany moved to Michigan. Brittany was walking her dog at a local outdoor mall when Michael approached her about her dog. Michael proposed to Brittany next to the ocean on her 30th birthday. We got married the next year.

As we approach our 5th wedding anniversary, we are so proud to say we have built a life that we love.  A couple years ago we decided we were ready for our next chapter and reached out to a fertility doctor. After a year, we discussed our options and felt our calling to adoption.

We love spending time outside and exploring all the amazing things our great state has to offer. We frequent our area’s metro parks and love kayaking the many lakes and rivers around us. During the spring and summer we enjoy tending to our flower and vegetable gardens together. Spending quality time with each other is very important to us and we look forward to creating new traditions and memories with our future child.

About Brittany

Michael says: Brittany is the heart of our home. She’s warm, nurturing, and full of energy. Born and raised in Texas, she moved to Michigan and brought her southern charm with her. She holds a degree in Criminal Justice and Psychology and recently made the decision to return to school to pursue a degree in Early Childhood Education. As a teacher and director at a childcare center, she has a special way of connecting with children.

Brittany loves getting her hands dirty in the garden, baking something sweet in the kitchen, or planning a fun craft or game night with friends and family. She likes to stay busy with craft projects like sewing, crocheting, Cricut crafting, and diamond art. A lifelong book worm, she makes a weekly trip to the library and has a little reading nook in her bedroom. Brittany’s creativity, warmth, and love for learning spill into everything she does, and she looks forward to sharing these passions with our child one day.

Fun Fact: When Brittany was coaching gymnastics, she taught a mommy and me class with WWE’s The Undertaker and his daughter.

About Michael

Brittany says: Michael is calm, thoughtful, and steady–the guy who always knows how to make people feel safe and supported. He was born and raised in Michigan and earned his business degree from a local college. He now works as a materials coordinator at an automation company, where his problem-solving skills shine.

In his free time, he loves working on home projects, building his Pokémon team, kayaking, and cheering on his favorite sports teams. Michael is a gamer and stays current with all of the new gaming systems. He enjoys playing sports games on his PS5 or playing games like League of Legends on his PC. Mike has a quiet sense of humor and the kindest soul; you’ll often find him being the “fun uncle” when the kids are over, patiently building LEGOs, or joining a Nerf battle.

Fun fact: Mike played professional roller hockey in his 20’s.

Our Family

Michael comes from a big, lively family. His parents are both retired and still living in Michigan. He has one sister, three brothers, and two stepbrothers. Even though they live across the state, we make it a priority to see them every month and create new memories together. Michael’s family is incredibly open and welcoming—they immediately embraced Brittany as one of their own. Holidays spent with Michael’s family usually include big get togethers and many Slovak traditions.

Brittany’s family is a little smaller, but just as close-knit. Her parents are retired and enjoying life in the mountains of Tennessee. They are very hands-on and we’re fortunate to see them every two to three months. Brittany also has one brother, a successful chef living in Texas. While we don’t get to see him as often as we’d like, we make it a point to visit at least once a year and always look forward to that time together. Holidays with her family are usually spent in Tennessee with just the immediate family, or at our house where we like to host “misfit Christmas” and host anyone who does not have a place to go for the holidays.

Both of our families are so incredibly supportive of our adoption journey and cannot wait to welcome a beautiful baby into the family.

Our Home in Michigan

We live in a cozy two-story home in a quiet neighborhood just outside the city. Our house is a short walk from several parks and only minutes away from our community’s elementary, middle, and high schools. We are fortunate to live in a  wonderful neighborhood with amazing neighbors that still participate in block parties, giving everyone a chance to meet with each other and make connections. Our neighborhood is filled with young families, and we know any child would feel right at home here.

We’re also lucky to live just 15 minutes from where all of Michigan’s major sports teams play, and we love catching a Red Wings or Lions game whenever we can. There is a beautiful lake less than 10 minutes from us, and we spend lots of time exploring the metro parks. Whether kayaking, having a picnic on the beach, or simply enjoying nature, we love that we don’t have to travel far for outdoor adventures.

We truly feel blessed to live in an area surrounded by so many wonderful opportunities–big cities, world-class museums, amazing libraries, charming cider mills, and countless festivals and events. It’s a place full of fun, learning, and community, and we’re excited to share it all with a child.

Our Promise

We promise to raise your child in a home filled with love, hope, laughter, and faith.

We promise your child will always know how deeply they are loved by many. They will grow up surrounded by family who will cheer them on, guide them, and celebrate them through every stage of life.

We promise to fill their days with small joys and big adventures. We’ll teach them to appreciate the little things, to be curious, and to treat others with compassion and respect.

We promise to share their adoption story with honesty and love, so they will always know where they came from and the incredible love that brought them to us. They will grow up knowing how amazing you are.

Above all, we promise to give your child a safe, steady, and happy home–a home where they will always feel seen, supported, and loved beyond measure.

We’d love to talk or answer any of your questions. Please call or text Lifetime at 1.800.923.6784.

More About Our Family

Our Pet

We have a Border Collie/Australian Shepherd named Winnie. We rescued her shortly after we got together and we have been in love ever since. She’s super playful, loves being outside and playing with her tennis ball. Winnie has grown up around children and seniors and is very good at picking up on the emotions around her; we have considered completing the training to make her a certified emotional support dog. She’s the best dog!

A Weekend At Our House

-On Saturday mornings, Michael wakes up a little early to grab us coffee. Brittany’s favorite is an iced white chocolate mocha with peppermint, while Michael usually goes for a frozen caramel latte. We love taking our mornings slow, sitting on the couch, sipping our coffee, and talking as we ease into the weekend.
-After our coffee, we usually run errands and shop for the week. Grocery stores, Home Depot, and Michael's are our regular stops as we work on home projects and make our gardens beautiful.
-We spend as much time enjoying our backyard when we can, swimming in our blow-up pool during the summer or playing in the snow with Winnie during the winter.
-Every other weekend, Brittany’s cousin and her three kids come over. We love spending time with family whenever we can. When the kids visit, we take them to the beach, go for rides around the neighborhood in our golf cart, and make sure to be the “fun” family members.
-Every weekend we make sure to set aside time for each other. Sometimes it's working on a home improvement project together and sometimes it's a mini-golf date. We like to go out and enjoy all the places and events our area has to offer.
-We use Sundays as a recharge day. We sometimes attend church with Mike's family or stay home and get ready for the week ahead. This usually looks like homework and food prep for Brittany, and football and laundry for Mike.

3 Things on Our Bucket List

1. One of our biggest bucket list goals is to travel and spend time in all 50 states. We even bought a U.S. map where we place a selfie over each state we visit. So far, we’ve made it to Michigan, Ohio, Illinois, Indiana, Texas, Florida, Tennessee, and California, and we can’t wait to keep exploring with our child. We love the idea of discovering all the beauty, history, and adventure our country has to offer together.

2. Closer to home, we both dream of growing something big from our garden. Brittany hopes to one day have a pumpkin patch that produces more than just three tiny pumpkins (she’s determined to get it right!), while Michael would love to master the art of growing grapes and eventually making his own wine.

3. Another dream on our list is to travel to Greece as a family. Michael visited when he was in high school and has always wanted to return with Brittany and our future child(ren). We imagine sitting on the beaches of Crete enjoying the food and culture, and exploring the incredible history of places like the Parthenon in Athens.

The Thing I Most Admire in My Spouse Is...

Brittany: I always describe Michael as "the calm to my storm." Michael is one of the most patient, calm people I have ever met, and not just when it comes to me. Michael knows how to stay levelheaded and focused, even when everything seems to be falling apart around him. He is able to handle anything and everything that has been thrown his way and I know that no matter what happens, I can always depend on him. I cannot wait to see him provide these amazing traits to a sweet baby.

Michael: The reason I fell in love with Brittany is her way of caring and loving people, no matter what. The level of caring in her soul is unmatched, and she will always make you or anyone she is around feel that love and care. When she is at work, every child in that building is immediately drawn to her and becomes attached to her right away. She always knows how to make a situation better. There is no doubt in my mind that she will be the best mom!

In Closing

We are ready to welcome a little one into our hearts and raise them in a home full of love and laughter. We are excited to share library adventures, beach days, and Michael's love of sports with our future little one.

We want to thank you for taking the time to learn a little about us. We hope to get to know you and welcome you with open arms into our lives. We are open to whatever kind of relationship you are most comfortable with. We pray that you find what you are looking for and that we can walk this path together.
