Hello! We are honored that you would take the time to get to know us and our family. We have been married for nearly 13 years and adopted our son 3 years ago. He has been such a blessing in our lives! We are so excited to grow our family again through adoption and for him to be a big brother. As a family we love everything from movie nights snuggled up on the couch to getting outdoors for camping and hiking. We can’t wait to hear your story and hope to be a part of your journey!

About Us

Our story started with the classic mutual friend saying, “I have someone I think you should meet…”. One thing we have always enjoyed together is spending time hiking and camping. We have currently visited nearly thirty of the national parks and our goal is to visit all of them. The mountains have also been a place of healing for us as we journeyed through infertility and waited for our son to come into our lives. We also enjoy spending time with family and friends playing games, cooking and sharing meals together, and having a good laugh. It has been a blessing to share all this with our son, and we can’t wait to share it with another amazing kiddo!

About Julianna

Poe says: Ever since I met Julianna, it was evident she would be an awesome mom. She has always been intentional in preparing for a family, making decisions with that dream in mind. Getting to watch her be a mom with our son brings out joy in her that is infectious! She is kind and generous, thoughtful and caring, loves adventures, and is always prepared for whatever comes her way.

Julianna loves:

  • A good book (historical fiction is a favorite)
  • Going for a hike
  • A warm cup of tea and a cozy blanket
  • Roasting s’mores over a campfire in the mountains
  • Walking along the beach

  • About Poe

Julianna says: I have always known Poe would be a good father because of how deeply he loves and cares for others. He takes an active role in parenting, spending time playing with our son and connecting with him in the ways that are most meaningful to him.

    Poe loves:

  • Rafting on the river
  • Hunting with friends and family
  • Good food
  • Cuddling up with our dogs
  • The Chicago Cubs

  • Our Family

Our son, Brooks, is 3 years old and is a curious, joyful boy. He loves to read books together and all things cars and trucks. In our backyard, he can often be found swinging a baseball bat, digging in the sandbox, or tossing toys for the dogs, sometimes all at once! He is very social and loves running around with kids of all ages. He loves to make others laugh and is always ready for a good time.

Our dogs, Hallie and Sadie (Wirehaired Pointing Griffons), are playful, gentle, and love to snuggle. They’ve been a wonderful part of our family and have become Brooks’ constant companions. The three of them enjoy hiking, camping, and spending time outdoors together.

In the evenings, you can find all of us playing together in the living room or outside while listening to music and winding down for the evening with a good book.

    Our Home in Idaho

We live in a great little neighborhood in Southwest Idaho that is just the right distance from basically everything we want and need. There are several parks within a short walk and in 5 minutes we can be to our local library, more parks and walking paths, and other great ways to spend time as a family. For longer trips and bigger adventures, there are many places to camp, hike, be on the water, or just sit and enjoy the beauty, all within a few hours. Sometimes it is hard to choose between a new adventure and visiting what have become our favorite places.

Our house is a 3-bedroom home with a great backyard space. This year we have plans to start gardening and growing some of our own food. We’ve also recently done some updates to ensure we maximize space as we welcome another child into our family.

    Our Promise

If we are chosen to be your child’s adoptive parents, know they will be deeply loved by us, our family, and our community of friends. We believe there is no replacement for positive time together as a family when it comes to a child’s development socially, emotionally, and physically. We will seek to provide formational experiences to help your child grow, learn, and be the best version of themselves. Most importantly, we will strive to help them become a loving, kind, and compassionate human being.

We will ensure they know who they are, where they came from, and how blessed we are to have them be a part of our family. We have an open relationship with our son’s birth mom and would love to discuss what you would like an open adoption to look like with you. We will always seek to honor your wishes for an open adoption, even when those wishes look different in different seasons.

We’d love to talk or answer any of your questions. Please call or text Lifetime at 1.800.923.6784.

    More About Our Family

    Our Traditions

We love spending time outdoors, and some of our favorite moments happen at our favorite camping spot in the mountains each summer. There, we hike, swim, relax by the campfire and roast s'mores, and soak in hot springs whenever we can. We’re also on a mission to visit all of the national parks, trying to explore a new one each year. The matching Chacos we wore on our wedding day have turned into a fun tradition as we take pictures in our Chacos on each new adventure. We also enjoy playful family traditions at home. One of our favorites is a silly “Elf on the Shelf”–style game, where we take turns hiding a wood figure with a secret message that says “I Wuv You." We can't wait to hide the "I Wuv You" doll and buy a pair of little Chacos for another child to become part of these traditions!

    Our Hobbies

At home, our time together often revolves around cooking and baking together. We love Disney movie nights, trips to Disneyland, and recreating classic treats like Dole Whip and beignets. Game nights are a favorite, and baseball season always brings friendly rivalry as Julianna cheers for the Royals and Poe roots for the Cubs.

Poe enjoys spending time on the river rafting and fishing and is an avid hunter, including deer, elk, and bird hunting. Julianna finds joy in creating a welcoming home through decorating and organizing and loves relaxing with a warm cup of tea. We are excited to share these adventures and hobbies with a new child the way we have with our son, Brooks.

    Extended Family

Poe's family all lives close by, and Brooks usually spends some time each week with his grandparents. We also spend time with his extended family around holidays and family gatherings throughout the year. Julianna's family lives in Kansas City and we travel to see them each year, and her parents come to spend time with us several times throughout the year. There are lots of cousins to play with on both sides of the family!

One of Poe's favorite family traditions is his family's annual waffle brunch. Every year on Christmas Eve, they host a waffle brunch where family and friends come over to enjoy Belgian waffles made from scratch. One of Julianna's favorite family traditions is having big soup dinners with family and friends. Growing up her family had soup dinners around the holidays, whether it was Thanksgiving, Christmas, or New Years.

Together, we’ve blended these traditions into our own. Julianna loves hosting soup dinners every fall, inviting friends to share in the tradition, and Poe continues the waffle brunch with fried chicken and waffles in the winter. We love sharing these traditions with our friends and community and can't wait to share them with another child.

    Our Thoughts On Adoption

When we began talking about growing our family, adoption was always part of the conversation. Even before experiencing infertility, we knew adoption was a way we would love to grow our family, and we are deeply honored that this journey led us to our son, Brooks. He is our great joy, and we feel incredibly blessed by him.

We have an open relationship with Brooks’ birthmother, which we believe is important to value and nurture. We have learned to be flexible and thoughtful in how that relationship works, always seeking to honor her and her role in our son’s life.

We are also grateful to have several close friends who have adopted. Supporting one another and loving each other’s children has been a true gift, and we value having these relationships so our son can see and embrace his story through the shared experiences of others.

    In Closing

A child would be so deeply loved by us and surrounded by a loving and caring family and friends.
