Watch Our Video

Hello! We are Scott and Melissa from Colorado. We are an outgoing, loving couple that enjoys the outdoors, spending time with family and friends, and walking our dogs. We have so much joy in our hearts about adopting and are thrilled to grow our family. We look forward to having a child join us in all we do as a family. We would love to have an open adoption with you and share letters, pictures, and occasional visits.  You will see that we love the community that we work and live in.

About Us

We enjoy going for walks with our two loving dogs, cooking together, and sharing our yummy creations with our friends and family.  We love spending time with family and friends at game nights, movie nights, local shows, art classes, and get-together dinners! We share a passion for animals and the outdoors, which we look forward to sharing with our child. We truly believe that it takes a village to raise a child and we have so many people in our lives (immediate family, extended family, and friends) who are all thrilled to be a part of our child’s life!

We have wanted to grow our family ever since we got married, and after learning we cannot have children naturally, God put adoption on our hearts. We are thrilled to grow our family in this way.

About Scott

By Scott: After about 10 years of teaching, I retired from the field to work for a retirement community where I assisted residents. Currently I am a manager at the local Ace Hardware store, only four miles from our house. Growing up, I was part of a small community and carry those values with me today. I really enjoy having events that support the community, especially bringing joy to the local children dressing up as Santa Clause. I really look forward to sharing my faith, my passion for life, my drive for learning how things work, my work ethic and guiding our child to be their best they can be.

About Scott by Melissa: Scott is a kind man who wears his heart on his sleeve. He is a family man, believes in leading by example, and has a heart for others. Even his work allows him to serve others with aiding the community by helping people fix problems. His mind is consistently working out how things work. His sense of humor always makes me laugh and he has plenty of ‘dad jokes’ to share! I know he will be an amazing, hands-on father to our child.  I can’t wait to see our child grow up in our community and see the hard work and dedication his/her Daddy puts into his everyday life.

About Melissa

By Melissa: After high school I went to college to work in sports medicine. I now work for a primary care and pediatric medical facility as the referral coordinator/manager. When I’m not working, I love to get into my hobby of photography. I’m so excited to share this passion of photography with our child as well as help them to learn, grow and explore. I look forward to cheering them on through the happy moments and supporting them through the sad ones as well.

About Melissa by Scott: Melissa’s kindness was one of the first things that stood out to me about her. On top of her kind heart, she has a perseverance like I have never seen! I really see that perseverance at her work. She works directly with the patients and insurance companies to make sure they get what they need.  She knows that their life depends on her work, so she sticks with a problem until she finds a solution. Melissa loves to work on her craft projects, and I know she is excited to share that passion with our child.

Our Family

We are very close with our families (or as we call them, ‘The Village’). We have family in California that we talk to on a weekly basis- some of whom have a house here in Colorado, so we see them very often in the warmer months. We have other family that live close by and are part of our lives almost every day. They’re all thrilled we are adopting!

Most weekends and holidays we all get together as a family as we are all excited to spend time together and catch up. We have a tradition each year where our family gets together and takes a picture with Santa at different locations. This is a small tradition that really brings us closer together and is a lot of fun.

Melissa’s brother, mom and stepdad are just a short drive away. One tradition we enjoy with them is getting together to celebrate the dogs’ birthdays. We get each of them a “dog” cake to celebrate! When we visit California, we like to visit with Scott’s brother and his family of 5. It is always fun to hear about his adventures as a captain in the local fire department. We stay at Scott’s parents’ house where we like to play card games and walk through the downtown arcade while we are enjoying an ice cream cone.

As a family we enjoy trains, and taking trips on them. We have been on a few steam trains, as well as more modern trains. We enjoy the pleasure of watching the world go by while enjoying a meal together.  We would love to include our son or daughter on our trips.

Our Home in Colorado

When buying our new home, we were sure to keep our growing family in mind. Our home is spacious, filled with love, and located in a wonderful family-oriented neighborhood with children. We’ve designed our home to be fun, inviting, and safe! We love having friends over and our three dogs love to greet them. Our house sits on top of a hill, looking down on the valley below. We have a three-bedroom house, with a gorgeous deck where we like to spend our time. With a plot of land backing up to the Rocky Mountain national forest, we have plenty of land to explore and have fun with our children.

With lots of hiking trails and a reservoir nearby, we will never run out of fun things to do. Just a short drive away we are close to quite a few snow ski resorts.

The school is right down the road. Our school district from pre-school to high school is at one location, so going to school is a breeze.  The school bus stops at the bottom of each driveway, which is one of the benefits of living in a small town.

Our Promise

We want you to know that you are not alone in your journey, and we are praying for you and your child. We promise to provide your child with a home filled with love, laughter, hands-on parents, and plenty of support and encouragement for them to be their best self. We understand the importance of heritage and we look forward to immersing your child in their own so they can grow up connected to their wonderful story. We look forward to getting to know you and would love to discuss an open adoption with you. We’d love to talk or answer any of your questions. Please call or text Lifetime at 1.800.923.6784.

With lots of love and support,
Melissa and Scott

Our Bucket List

We love to travel, and our bucket list consists of places we would love to see!
-We want to go to Iceland--stay in the glass igloos and watch the Northern Lights.
-We would also love to go to the North Pole on an ice cutter cruise ship.
-We also hope to take a train trip through the Canadian Rockies, starting in Whistler on the train.

When I was little I wanted to be...

Scott: When I was little, I wanted to get into flying. I was turned down because I am too tall for a cockpit, so I went with my equally happy profession of being a teacher, which I did for 10 years before we moved to the Colorado mountains.

Melissa: When I was growing up, I wanted to become a doctor. While in school I found out I liked sports as well, so I went into sports medicine. After we moved to live in the mountains, I continued work in the medical field at the local medical center.

Fun Facts

Scott: Every year I play Santa Claus for the local community event during the Christmas Season. I'm told my dad jokes are legendary! I also have traveled to New Zealand and Australia for school and grew up around houseboats, which led to many family vacations going water skiing.

Melissa: I have a funny quirky sense of humor and people say my humor is contagious. I grew up swimming and playing basketball, which is how I got interested in sports medicine.

Our friends say we are....

-Fun to spend time with
-Compassionate and very welcoming
-Competitive at game nights (always friendly!)
