Hello from beautiful Colorado!

We are a multicultural family of three hoping to expand to at least four! We are a Christian family that strives to place God first in all that we do. Thomas’ job as an officer in the US Army has helped us see the world, while Jennifer’s family ties in Tanzania bring us to Africa yearly. Our daughter, Imara, has been praying to have a younger sibling for many years now. We all desire to share our lives, our joy, and our travels with our future child.

About Us

We met in 2011 at a home Bible study held by our church. From the moment we met, it has always been our shared values and love of God that has made our bond the strongest.

We have been married for over 12 years now! Despite Thomas deploying almost immediately after our wedding, and lots of training exercises in his early career, our marriage and love for each other has grown stronger with each passing year and we have overcome many challenges together. We look forward to each new adventure.

We love hiking, traveling to new places, skiing, doing escape rooms, and just staying at home doing puzzles or playing board games.

We always wanted a big family, but we had to persevere through infertility. God blessed us with the miraculous birth of our daughter, Imara, in the fifth year of our marriage, changing our lives forever. Since then, we have longed to share our love and grow our family further. As you make plans for your baby, we are so grateful to even be considered as adoptive parents.

About Jennifer

Thomas speaking here! What I love and admire about Jennifer the most is her incredible unending capacity for kindness. Even after 12 years of marriage, she still surprises me with something sweet she thought to do for me, our daughter, a friend, or someone who is virtually a stranger to her. She goes out of her way to bless others and is the most selfless person I know.

Jennifer says: I was proud to be one of 3 females in my graduating class in Aeronautical Engineering. I have since worked in the Aerospace industry for 19 years. I’ve held numerous different roles, both technical and as a people leader, and I enjoy being a mentor to young engineers that are early in their career.

In my free time I love learning new things as well as focusing on self-improvement. Some of the things I’ve learned over the years and love are gardening, knitting, photography, and baking sourdough. Once the fall hits, I start my knitting projects, as well as baking breads (banana, zucchini and pumpkin). In the spring I turn to my vegetable garden. It’s so exciting to watch and nurture the growing process and see how God gives the increase. I always have some yield of herbs, fruits, and veggies to enjoy with family and friends.

I can’t wait to experience the joy of gardening with our next child and knitting them a blanket, a stuffed animal, and whatever else would bless them. I also look forward to singing to our future child, both lullabies at bedtime and happy songs throughout the day.

About Thomas

Jennifer speaking here! From our very first date I knew that Thomas was someone I wanted to share my life with. His ability to remain calm in any situation and make everything seem okay is very comforting to me and complementary to my personality. Thomas is 100% invested as a father and he has so much love and energy to give on a daily basis. He is definitely the fun parent!

Thomas says: I began my career in the Army as an Infantry Officer and loved leading soldiers. I have since changed fields in the Army to become an operations research systems analyst. I now love doing math to solve difficult and ambiguous problems for the Army. My favorite job so far has been teaching Calculus to cadets at the United States Military Academy at West Point.

Thomas’s interests and hobbies include:

  • Running, Hiking, Skiing, Climbing, and Obstacle Courses
  • Soccer, Ultimate Frisbee, Volleyball
  • Escape rooms
  • Puzzles, board games, and oldie video/computer games
  • And (a little embarrassingly) doing math

I look forward to playing sports and sharing my love of mathematics with another child as they grow! But while they are a baby, I just look forward to playing silly games with them to see them smile and hear their sweet laugh.

Our Family

Our daughter, Imara, recently turned eight! She is a sweet girl and is hoping for a younger sibling to share her life with. We believe in keeping her engaged and encourage learning activities she enjoys. Her interests and activities include hiking, climbing, learning piano, gymnastics, riding her bike, and learning to roller skate.

We prioritize family time each day and especially on the weekend! Our dinners are at the table, phone free, and full of conversation and laughter. We share about our days and encourage listening and participation.

Our extended family is very important to us. Thomas is an only child and his parents live in South Carolina. Jennifer’s family (four siblings, four nieces, and two nephews) mostly lives in Kenya and Tanzania. No matter the distance, we make sure to see all of our extended family at least once a year. It is important to us to share the cultures and traditions from both our families with each other and our children. Our extended family is supportive of our adoption plans and excited to meet the newest member of the family.

Our Home in Colorado

We recently moved into our new home on the edge of suburbia in a new neighborhood. Our home has instant access for a five-mile running/walking /biking trail and a huge brand-new playground! Our house has four bedrooms and is a two-story home with a large open basement, great for playing indoor games. Turning one way out of our home takes you to shops and restaurants, while turning the other way takes you out into the country and beautiful forest.

We’ve set up a nursery before and are excited to do it again! We like our nursery to be an inviting, warm, cozy place and it will be right next to our bedroom. We’ve got a decent-size backyard with some space for playing and a trampoline. We love going to the nearby zoo together or traveling to different nearby nature trails, all less than 30 minutes from our home. Sometimes on our bike rides we end up stopping and feeding the neighbors’ horses.

Our favorite thing about our home is the incredible view of the mountains from almost every room in the house. Each day brings a new, inspiring, and majestic view.

Our Promise

We promise to raise your child according to Godly principles. We promise to give him/her love, encouragement, and opportunities. We promise to provide a home with clear rules and boundaries that children flourish in. We will continue traveling and seeing the world together as a family. Lastly, if it is your desire, we promise to keep in contact with you and share with you your child’s journey.

We’d love to talk or answer any of your questions. Please call or text Lifetime at 1.800.923.6784.

Family Traditions

-Every year we take a family trip to Africa to visit Jennifer's family, usually in the summer.
-When the Christmas season approaches, we like to put together jigsaw puzzles as a family.
-Every Christmas we do an Advent calendar with different themes each year.
-On Christmas Eve, we've adopted Thomas' family tradition of having steaks and twice-baked potatoes for dinner.
-On New Year's Day we reflect on the previous year, what went well, what didn't, and set goals for the coming year. We also burn the chaff: we each write down something that we'd like to let go of on a piece of paper and burn it outside to symbolize getting rid of it.

When I Was Little, I Wanted to Be…

*Thomas wanted to be the president of the United States.
*Jennifer wanted to be an Aeronautical Engineer just like her dad (and fulfilled her dream).
