Greetings from Missouri! We have wanted a big family for our entire relationship and always discussed adoption. After experiencing infertility this path became even more clear, and we couldn’t be more excited to become first-time parents through adoption. We love finding joy in the everyday together, from dancing in the living room to playing sports outside. Our relationship with Jesus is the most important thing in our lives, and we’re excited to share this daily joy and love with our future children.

Even though we haven’t met yet, we are praying for you! We want to wrap you in love and support as you make plans for your baby. Thank you for taking the time to get to know us, and blessings on your journey!

About Us

Something we love about our relationship is that we’ve known each other since we were kids! We’re from the same town, so we grew up going to school, church, the fair, and all sorts of things together. We even dated in high school for a few years. Now, we’ve been happily married for several years. We love Jesus, dream of having a big family, and are excited to become first-time parents through adoption!

Things We Love to Do Together:

  • Biking and pickleball in the summer
  • Cross country skiing or ice skating in the winter
  • Playing board games
  • Hanging out with friends
  • Serving in church

About Katie

According to Tom: Katie is the most loving, caring, and gracious person I know. She is ridiculously intelligent. Her wit and humor bring so much laughter and joy to my life. With her warm and bubbly personality, she makes friends with anyone and can light up any social event.

Katie is a mental health therapist, which means she gets to help others for a living. It is amazing to see her excitement and joy towards the progress of those she works with. She loves being active, especially outdoors, and is very creative. She’s excited to read stories to our child, play with them outside, and make everyday activities an adventure. I am most attracted to her faith and trust in a great and loving God and how she lives out that faith in kindness and deep care for those around her. She is going to be such a great mom!

Katie also enjoys:

  • Painting and writing
  • Baking
  • Walking and hiking
  • Reading

About Tom

According to Katie: Tom is a natural leader and role model–I’ve been looking up to him since I was in first grade! He is selfless and driven, and makes people feel comfortable in any environment. I am constantly amazed by his patience! He’s a gentle leader, and it’s automatic to feel safe with him.

Tom used to be an engineer, and now he is in graduate school to become a Christian pastor. That means he’s not only smart, he also stands up for what he believes in. He is also hilarious, and we have so much fun laughing together. He’s looking forward to having even more fun engaging in our child’s interests, whether that be coaching a team, playing music together, or doing projects at home. He already brings out childlike joy in me and everyone around him, and I’m excited to see that on display in his new role as a father!

Tom also loves:

  • Building Legos or doing handy projects
  • Making things on his 3D printer
  • Playing basketball

Our Family

We each have loving parents who have been married for around 30 years! We are from the same hometown, so we get to see both sets of parents at the same time when we visit. Being an only child, Tom’s parents are ready to shower extra love on their future grandchild.

Katie has five younger siblings (ages 13 – 23 years old) who are excited to spoil and have a relationship with their future niece or nephew. Every summer, Katie’s siblings get together for a vacation with all the kids and no parents. We call it “Kidcation.” During this, we like to try new activities like going to a trampoline park, attending a professional sports game, or other things we have never done. We’re excited to bring our future children on these vacations and share new experiences with them.

Our Home in Missouri

We live in a two-bedroom townhouse in a large city in Missouri. We feel blessed to live on the campus of Tom’s graduate school, where we are surrounded by other families who attend there and love kids. There is a playground, gym, and soccer field on the property, as well as a wooded area and plenty of room to run and play.

We love being able to attend the many events on campus, like basketball games, men’s and women’s groups, and free concerts. There is great community here, and we will truly have a village to support us as parents (and you, if you want). We also live near a large park that has many free museums, walking and biking trails, and a zoo.

Our Promise

We promise to love your child unconditionally, and that they will grow up in a joyful, stable home, knowing how loved they are by us and Jesus. We will support their interests and give them opportunities to develop their passions. We approach adoption with humility, and pledge to educate ourselves on the culture, values, and background of your child so we can celebrate them throughout our lives.

Our promise is to honor you and your heart, speak about you with love, and respect the level of openness you want. Your child will grow up knowing that your decision came from a place of deep care, and we will never hide or diminish your role in their life. Your child will always know they were wanted, treasured, and loved—by you and by us. We are praying for you!

We’d love to talk or answer any of your questions. Please call or text Lifetime at 1.800.923.6784.

More About Our Family

Our Thoughts on Open Adoption

We believe in the power of open adoption and have seen the beauty and healing of it firsthand. Katie and her siblings have an aunt who is a birth mom who courageously chose adoption, and they all know their biological cousin who was adopted at birth. We would love to walk that road with you and honor your heart throughout the lifelong journey of adoption, to whatever extent you feel comfortable.

Our Faith

Our Christian faith is the most important piece of our lives! We believe that God loves us so much He sent His son Jesus to die on the cross for every person. Through this, we have new life in Jesus. We want to share that love and life with everyone we interact with.

Our Musical Interest

We love a huge variety of music and are always listening to it. Tom knows how to play the saxophone, and Katie grew up playing the French horn and the piano. Each of her siblings also play an instrument. We also listen to almost every music genre, including rap, pop, classic rock/oldies, Christian, indie, folk, and country. We're excited to jam out with our future child and share some of your favorite songs with them.

A Weekend With Us

A typical weekend in our home starts with making a yummy breakfast on Saturday morning. We eat while we watch a Saturday morning cartoon. After our cozy morning, we try to do something active. That might be a hike, bike ride, going to the zoo, or even walking around Ikea on a rainy day. We often do something social with friends or have game nights. Sundays always begin with church in the morning and intentional time with Jesus before getting ready for the upcoming week.

In Closing

We are so excited to become parents through adoption! We look forward to showing our future children all the joy and fun they can experience through sports, music, nature, faith, or any other interest they develop! The love of Jesus will constantly shower them, us, and you. We would love to share an open adoption and welcome you and your child into our home and community, to whatever level you desire. Thank you for taking the time to read about us; we are praying for you as you continue on your journey!
