1. When you were a kid, what did you absolutely love to do?

Ryan: When I was a kid, I loved to go to my grandparent’s farm. After a long day of chores, my grandma would spoil me with delicious meals and treats. My favorite thing to do was go to the cattle sales with my grandpa. I cherish these special memories with my grandparents!

Jess: My favorite thing to do was swim! I loved going to my family cabin on the lake in Wisconsin with my mom, dad, and sister. Time seemed to slow down by the water, and we got to just have fun as a family.

2. What is the most daring thing you’ve ever done? Will you do it again?

Ryan: In college, I went cliff-jumping with my friends. There were two cliffs on the side of a lake, one about 30 feet high and the other about 60 feet high. I had no problem jumping from the first one, but the Ryan and Jess pose with friends after pheasant huntingsecond one was a little scary. I’d definitely do this again, as I enjoyed the rush!

Jess: My most daring thing happened on our honeymoon. We went on a bike ride down a mountain trail with no guard rail and quite a drop-off!

Though we made it safe, and it was fun, I wouldn’t do that again. My more daring adventures started happening once I met Ryan!

3. What would a perfect day look like to you?

We would spend the whole day swimming, fishing, going for boat rides, going for walks, and relaxing by the lake. We’d end our day by roasting marshmallows over the campfire, enjoying the company of our family and friends. Our day would have good meals, good conversations with our favorite people, and good times making memories together!

4. What is an important life lesson you’ve learned?

Ryan: When I was in school, I was in track, cross country, and basketball. I learned a lot of life lessons from my coaches and parents and through my experiences in sports.

The most important lesson I learned was always to pursue my dreams and that a good work ethic and hard work will get you where you want to be in life.

Jess: The most important life lesson I’ve learned is to put your family first. I learned this lesson from watching my parents as I was growing up. No matter how busy my parents were, they always made sure to set aside time to be together as a family.

5. As parents, what is something specific you want to teach your child?

Something that is very important for both of us to teach our child is respect and manners. We want our child to grow up knowing how to interact with others in a kind, courteous, and caring way, no matter who they are interacting with.

We also want to teach our child how to carry on a conversation and to have confidence in themselves to do so. These skills will be important as they grow into adults and start working and creating their own relationships. Having our child grow up with these skills and knowledge will help them enjoy the life around them.
