Right now, your mind might be spinning with tons of questions, like,
“How does adoption work?”
What do I get to decide about the process?”
“How do I even get started with adoption?”

Our website walks you through the steps to make an adoption plan for your baby, answering all of these questions and more. Lifetime’s website has SO much information available, but all that info in one place might leave you feeling overwhelmed.

So today, we’re going to share Lifetime’s 3 most popular (and useful!) pages. They’ve been popular with many women who are figuring out if adoption is the right answer for them, just like you. Because let’s face it, when you’re thinking about a life decision as major as adoption, it helps to know what’s been beneficial for other women in your situation.

A major benefit to choosing an open adoption is that you have the power to select your baby’s adoptive parents. On Lifetime’s Find a Family page, you’ll see waiting adoptive parents of all races in across the US who are ready to adopt.

They’ve had detailed background checks and are excited to become parents through adoption. The adoptive couples come from various backgrounds and religions and have different hobbies and jobs. So, be sure to let your Adoption Coordinator at Lifetime know what you are interested in, and she can direct you to specific waiting families.

2. Birth Fathers and Adoption

The father of your baby is known as the “birth father” in adoption lingo. As open adoption becomes more common, many birth fathers are becoming involved in the process. He can help select adoptive parents, get to know them, and help create a plan for ongoing contact like you can. We often find that when your baby’s father realizes that the adoption plan isn’t only about you, he becomes more comfortable in supporting it.

Like you, your baby’s father has legal rights in adoption that are important to know and understand. Every state has different laws and requirements about birth father adoption legal rights and responsibilities. If you have questions about the legal rights of birth fathers, Lifetime can connect you with an adoption attorney at no cost.

3. Start Your Adoption Plan

As a pregnant woman considering adoption, you’re in control of the adoption process. You get to make the adoption plan that feels comfortable to you, and you’ll have the support of a Lifetime Adoption Coordinator each step of the way. Every year, Lifetime offers assistance to hundreds of women who are facing an unplanned pregnancy. Our caring staff can help you seven days a week, 24 hours a day. Lifetime can also connect you with one-on-one counseling about your pregnancy, adoption plan, and available options.

On our “Start Your Adoption Plan” page, you can find direction about the steps to take after you’ve decided adoption is right for you.  This page has handy links at the very top to complete paperwork online to make an adoption plan for your baby, or if you’re already parenting, an adoption plan for your child

With Lifetime Adoption, you will work with Adoption Coordinators who are on-call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. They will be your advocate and will provide support and guidance as you create an adoption plan that is right for you.
