Hello! As a couple we cherish meaningful relationships with our friends and family and believe in accepting people for who they are without judgment. Our life centers around family and we’ve loved being parents! We had our daughter in 2019 with no complications, but have been through secondary infertility, IVF attempts, and the loss of our baby son, as we’ve tried to have another child. Adoption has always been on our hearts and we feel God leading us down the this journey now. We would love to get to know you!

A Little About Us

David shares how we met: We were working at an accounting firm in Houston. The first time we officially met was when I helped Amanda set up her computer monitors. We started out as friends, and then it turned into everlasting love. We have been together as a couple for 10 years, and happily married for 8 of them!

Things we like doing together:
• Lifting weights and exercise
• Home cooking (David likes to grill and Amanda likes to meal prep!)
• Going out to dinner and making the most of alone time to reconnect
• Binge watch new seasons of Stranger Things when our daughter goes to bed
• Being on the water at David’s family’s lake house

About Amanda

David says: Amanda’s love is unconditional. She is a compassionate, patient, resilient wife and mother who can accomplish anything she puts her mind to. She recently started her own business and it’s off to an amazing start! She’s honest, understanding, and the kind of person who often puts others’ needs before her own. Amanda is outgoing and loves to find new or exciting things for our family to do together. She’s a planner who keeps us organized too. Amanda is an amazing partner and more than I could have ever wished for.

Amanda enjoys:
• Meal prepping on weekends so we have more time together during the week
• Cooking tasty and nutritious meals
• Being in the snow (she loves the cold weather and wants to learn to snowboard)
• Organizing and keeping an uncluttered house
• Working with numbers and financial data to help my clients

About David

Amanda says: David is an amazing husband and an even better dad! He’s supportive, encouraging, and pushes me to reach for my dreams. He is very kind and good at seeing things from other people’s point of view. David is also giving, helpful, and believes in doing right by people, even if it’s unpopular. He is calming and playful too. Our daughter, Emma, adores David (she even said she prefers to play with her daddy because he has better pretend voices than I do!). As a dad, David helps Emma try new things and to be a strong, confident person. I love raising a family with this man!

David enjoys:
• Flying my camera drone
• Playing with our dogs
• Nature (he’s excited to take our kids camping when they’re older!)
• Books and podcasts about history
• Watching football
• Grilling
• Working through business taxes (it’s like a puzzle to solve and so rewarding when the numbers are worked out!)

Family Life

Emma is our 5-year-old daughter who is excited about being a big sister! We’ve already started to talk about adoption with her and she’s so happy we’re in this process. She was a big sister for a very short time when our son, Grayson, was with us for just 21 days after he was born early at 23 weeks along. We know she’ll be such a kind, loving, helpful sister when we welcome home a baby brother or sister through adoption. Emma is smart and loves learning (she asks great questions!). She currently loves taking tennis lessons and is excited to start gymnastics soon.

As a family we like:
• Going to Disney World
• Visiting relatives who live out of the area
• Household tasks, like folding laundry, doing dishes, or taking care of the pets (Emma actually loves helping with chores!)
• Going out on the boat or jet skis at the lake
• Swimming at David’s parents’ house
• Working on reading and writing with Emma
• Watching educational shows

Our Home in Texas

We live in a two-story house, with 4 bedrooms, in the suburbs outside of Houston. We love living close to David’s parents and his sister, wonderful friends, and great public schools within walking distance. The community is beautiful, with several parks, walking or biking trails, outdoor space, pools, splash pads, and tennis and basketball courts. We love being outside at the parks or splash pad with our friends! Our home is on a cul-de-sac and our neighbors have lots of young kids who love to play together. There’s also an amazing zoo, museum district, lakes, and beach all within a short drive. We’re also within 3 hours of several major universities, which will give our children future educational options, if they want to stay closer to home for college.

We built our house 5 years ago before our daughter was born. We knew we wanted more than one child, so we bought a house big enough for our family to grow. There’s already a room waiting for our future baby, with just about everything we need to welcome a little one.

From the Heart...

We promise to love your child unconditionally and make sure he or she has all that they need, including a good education and college (we’ve already saved for their college funds!). They will be able to play sports or music or create art; we’ll expose our children to all kinds of activities to help them explore what they like and what their talents are. We have so much love to give and it would be an honor to be chosen as your child’s adoptive family.

Your child will grow up hearing about their adoption from the very beginning. We never want it to be a secret how we all came together, out of love for him or her. We’ve already collected a few children’s books to help us discuss the topic of adoption from an early age. We want your child to know what you mean to us too. If you’d like an open adoption, we’re happy to share texts, photos, and annual visits.
Thank you for learning about us and the life we’d love to share with your child as his or her adoptive parents. We hope to get to know more about you and your baby! Call or text Lifetime at 1.800.923.6784.

Very thoughtfully, David and Amanda

More About Our Family

Fun Facts About Us

David: As a child, I wanted to host the game show, Jeopardy. I love learning new things and I’m known among my friends and family for having a lot of trivia-style knowledge. My favorite topics are history, biographies, and science.

Amanda: I really love organization and the challenge of sorting things out and finding a place or process for everything. Once something is organized, it brings me so much peace to keep it maintained and tidy!

Beliefs and Values

We believe in accepting others, that love always wins, and that education is important for a solid foundation for life. We value financial stability to make sure our family is taken care of, as well as having room to give back to our community. As a family we give space to have and express our feelings, and work through them together. We believe in making healthy choices so that our bodies stay strong and active for as long as possible. We are active in our church and enjoy serving and helping others. We’re both ushers at church and Amanda volunteers on the finance committee to help our church find land for a larger building, because our congregation is growing. We also love meeting new people! More than anything, we love quality time as a family, watching our daughter grow and being part of making memories she (and our future children) will hopefully cherish forever.

Extended Family

We both come from blended families with mixed racial backgrounds. David’s family is bigger than Amanda’s; he has two older siblings and a large extended family. Amanda was raised as an only child, although she has a stepsister and two half-sisters. She loves being around David’s big family! We have family within 30-45 minutes of us, and also in Dallas, California, Pennsylvania, Colorado, New York, and even Australia! We are often at David’s parents’ home and love that Emma gets a lot of time with her grandparents. Everyone has been supportive of our plans to adopt and are excited to meet the child who joins our family.

Favorite Family Traditions:
• Disney vacations with David’s extended family in Pittsburg (Emma loves going with all her cousins!)
• Visiting Long Beach, California to see David’s brother, or going to Colorado to see Amanda’s aunts (she hopes our kids love the mountains like she does!)
• Road trips to visit Amanda’s dad and sisters in Dallas (the little cousins love doing craft projects or playing pretend)

Our Pets

It feels like a miniature zoo here sometimes (and we love it!). We have 2 dogs and 3 cats. Luke, Phoenix, and Zoey are our lovable cats who came with us into our marriage. Our dogs, Peanut and Jax, are great with kids, sweet, energetic, and smart. We both LOVE animals and raising our kids to have memories with their family pets.

In Closing

We're thankful for your consideration as adoptive parents for your child. We'd love to get to know you more, or to answer any of your questions. It's been our hope to grow our family again and it's exciting (and an honor!) to be in this process to adopt our next child. If you'd like to stay in touch, we are open to sharing updates and a connection as your child grows up. When you're ready, just ask Lifetime to set up a call or video chat. We would look forward to hearing from you!
