Hopeful adoptive parents Bryan and RikkiI recently had the opportunity to interview hopeful adoptive parents Bryan and Rikki from Illinois.

Expectant mothers have the opportunity to speak with waiting families before they make their decision, but sometimes it’s nice to just get a little more info to understand who they are.

I asked them some fun questions that you won’t find in their adoption profile, and I learned that they are a wonderful couple who are so excited to expand their family through adoption!

1. What is a fun fact about you that usually surprises others to know?

Rikki: While I am a really down-to-earth person I believe in magic and the law of attraction. I love working with crystals and meditating daily.

Bryan: I love reading. I can read anything from random history stories, conspiracy theories to biographies about sports figures, anything that catches my interest.

2. As parents, what is something specific you want to teach your child?

To have fun and experience life in the moment. Rikki grew up in a low-income family, so she felt like she didn’t have this opportunity as a child. We strive to make sure that our kiddos get to experience their childhood and life to the fullest without barriers. We want our children to see the magic in every moment of life and to enjoy all that it has to offer!

3. What is something from your childhood that you want to make sure your child has or gets to experience?

Rikki and Bryan with their son at a Cards gameGrowing up, Bryan’s parents always made sure they took a family vacation every year. Some years it was a short weekend trip and other years a week-long getaway, but no matter what was going on with their jobs or in our lives, they always made time to take a vacation. We looked forward to these trips every year, and we made a lot of memories that we still talk about to this day. We experienced a lot of different places on these trips, and that’s definitely something we want to continue with our family.

4. What would a perfect day look like?

A perfect day for Rikki would start with sleeping in and having her morning coffee, and meditating. For Bryan, it would be having coffee and golfing before everyone wakes. Then we would spend the day with our kiddos at the park or doing something fun like going to a kids’ play place. The evening would consist of having dinner as a family. When the kids have gone to bed, we would then curl up together to watch Parks and Recreation or watch a Notre Dame football victory!

5. When you were a kid, what did you absolutely love to do?

Run around the neighborhood with all the other kids. We would play capture the flag, kickball, or spend it jumping on the trampoline at a friend’s house. We want our kiddos to have a similar experience!
