then and now adoptive couple blessed to adopt a baby girl!Lifetime Adoption is pleased to share a new episode in our blog series “Then and Now.” Today’s adoptive family is Matt and Julia from Missouri.

You might remember this adoptive couple from our previous blog post: “What Adoptive Families Say About Lifetime“. Then in the thick of their adoption wait, they emailed us:

“Thank you for being there to support us on this journey. When we started with Lifetime, we didn’t know how blessed we were to find you. You all have allowed us to have the peace of mind that we will become parents in God’s time.

Matt and Julia's adoption profileIt wasn’t until we found Lifetime that we surrendered trying to take control and make the miracle of a child happen.

We now trust in God’s plan, knowing that you all are there working for us, our child, and the birth mom. It has also given us the time to focus on preparing our home, lives, and hearts more fully for our future child. The love and encouragement that you all have given us is invaluable. I hope you know that we love and appreciate you and you’ll remain in our hearts.

We’ll enjoy this wonderful summer, and the beautiful sunny days it brings. After all, each day is one day closer to meeting our child!

many_faces_of_sophia.jpgMatt and Julia were blessed to adopt a baby girl through Lifetime last month! Julia emailed us, “Sophia arrived very suddenly.  We were headed to lunch to celebrate Matt’s birthday when I received the call.  Being told that we had been chosen by birth parents to a baby that was already born filled me with joy and wiped all coherent thought from my brain. Luckily, Matt is much more collected while he is overjoyed. We hit the road within the hour and met our daughter eight hours later.

We came prepared.  We had packed the baby’s bag, gotten the car seat installed, attended infant care class, and listened to the webinars in advance to that moment.  What we weren’t expecting was the gratitude and love of the birthparents.  They continually thanked us and stated how they wanted to give her as a gift to us.  I still cry thinking of the selflessness of it all.   Matt and I are so happy and grateful to have Sophia in our lives.  It has been six short weeks yet she has brought so much happiness to our lives and those of our family and friends!

Being parents has made our lives so much richer and us stronger as a partnership.  We are looking forward to all the joys and challenges ahead of us but are in no hurry.  She has gotten so big already!”
