I asked Tim and Amanda some fun questions that you won’t find in their adoption profile, and I learned that they are a fun-loving, active couple who have been happily married for 13 years. They enjoy traveling the world, taking their dogs for walks, working on DIY home improvement projects, and hiking in national parks. Tim and Amanda are excited to grow their family through adoption and become first-time parents!

Tim and Amanda share, “We look forward to sharing our lives with a child, enjoying weekends with our families, summers on the lake, and exploring the mountains in the winter. After we adopt, Amanda will be a full-time stay-at-home parent…We hope to get to know you and the life you picture for your child.”

1. What did you want to be when you were a kid?

Amanda: I wanted to be a princess when I grew up. One of my earliest school memories is writing a report about how I wanted to be a princess when I grew up. The logistics didn’t quite work out according to the steps in my school paper, but I think marrying Tim got me as close as I’ll ever be. He definitely works hard to make sure I have everything I need or want, and he is my prince.

Tim: I wanted to be a movie star! As a child I spent hours making costumes out of construction paper, dressing myself and my little brothers, and using my mom’s camcorder to film my movie scenes. It wasn’t anything I seriously pursued, but it was always fun to pretend. In high school I spent four years in drama and was in school plays.

2. What is the most daring thing you’ve ever done? Will you do it again?

Amanda: We recently went parasailing on vacation in Florida, and it’s the most daring thing I’ve has done. Sitting in a sling, tied to a parachute, was very scary, 400 feet above the water. It was also very beautiful and calm, and I could see that Tim was really enjoying it. I could probably be persuaded to do it again. But my goodness was I holding on for dear life!

Tim: I’m a bit more adventurous. The most daring thing I’ve done is go skydiving. It was very scary to jump out of a perfectly functioning airplane. However, after the jump, realizing there was no going back, it was the most exhilarating experience.

I knew I was falling toward the earth, but it felt like I was floating; all the while, the ground grew closer and closer. And then I got nervous because the ground looked very close. Needless to say, I was very happy when the parachute opened and brough me safely to the ground. And I will never do it again, because Amanda won’t let me.

3. If you were a superhero, what powers would you want to have?

Amanda: I would choose the power to clone myself. If I could clone myself one of me could always be on vacation, while another one of me could be at work, and a third me could be at home taking care of the house.

Tim: I’d choose the power to fly like a bird. Since I was little I’ve always been fascinated with flying. As far back as I can remember, even in my dreams, sometimes I can fly. If I could choose to be any animal, I’d be an eagle. Plus, I’d never have to deal with traffic ever again!

4. What is your favorite holiday?

Amanda: I love all the holidays! The reason I love all holidays, and can’t choose just one, is because my favorite thing to do is be with family and enjoy celebrating each other. I love finding small gifts and things to give everyone for all the holidays, not just birthdays or Christmas.

Tim: My favorite holiday is Independence Day. I love to grill, I love fireworks, and I love America.

One of my favorite memories from the 4th of July is the summer Amanda and I met. We sat on the grass at the fairgrounds and watched the fireworks together, and I knew I was in love.

5. If you could only eat one meal for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Amanda: Tacos. I choose tacos because it’s cheating a little bit. You have chicken tacos, beef tacos, fish tacos, so I’m kind of getting away with having different meals within the context of just one meal.

Tim: Hamburgers and French fries. I always order a hamburger off the menu at every restaurant we go to. I love comparing a restaurant hamburger to one of my own; mine’s always better. Since I’m obsessed with hamburgers, I figure I’d probably choose to eat only that for the rest of my life.
