Birth Mother Adoption Testimony—Christina’s Story

We recently had the privilege of providing a platform for Christina to share her adoption story. She was facing a nerve-wracking situation in 2017, when she found out she was pregnant unexpectedly. Christina contacted Lifetime Adoption and made a beautiful open adoption plan with a family she chose and met ahead of time. 

Today she maintains an open adoption with the adoptive family and her son, who live in Texas. She just finished nursing school and started working at a local clinic. It’s a privilege and honor for us to share Christina’s story here:

“I didn’t think I’d be in the kind of situation I found myself in at 20. As soon as I found out I was pregnant, I knew I couldn’t give my baby the kind of life that I wanted to. My boyfriend and I were both going to college full-time and I quickly realized that we couldn’t become parents right then. How would we afford everything a baby needs when we were only working part-time at two work-study jobs?!

So, one day I searched online for adoption agencies. I called a bunch of them, and Lifetime Adoption was the most friendly and open. The woman I spoke to there was happy to help me, even if I hadn’t pledged my commitment to adoption yet. A lot of adoption agencies seemed hesitant to even talk to me when I was on the fence about adoption.

It really helped to know that I didn’t have to think of everything and go it alone. My Adoption Coordinator at Lifetime helped me with everything, from how to approach my boyfriend about adoption to making a plan for how things would go at the hospital when it came time for me to deliver. I appreciate all the help and guidance that Lifetime has given me, and I wish that everyone’s adoption experience could be as good as mine was. I loved having the support and encouragement of Lifetime Adoption and others who had gone through this process!

Being given the opportunity to share my experience and thoughts with others is so healing. While it was challenging to choose adoption, it has honestly been the most rewarding experience of my life. I was able to continue with my college plans and goals while at the same time giving my son two loving parents who are financially stable and responsible. Adoption let me give my son the BEST life possible!“
