woman thinking about adoptionQuestion: I am pretty sure that an adoption plan is the right choice for me and I’m due in a couple of months. But I’m worried…if I change my mind, can I choose to raise my child?

Answer: You can change your mind about adoption before all the forms are signed. We suggest that you make this decision sooner rather than later, since the longer you wait the more difficult it will be. Just take things one step at a time. And, know that your Lifetime Adoption Coordinator is here for you.

Lifetime Adoption offers you peer counseling, from women who have made an adoption plan for their child. We can also connect you to a licensed counselor. Both types of counseling are offered to you at no cost. Talking to someone may help you to clarify your feelings. Just because you’re sad or feel guilty, that doesn’t mean that your decision to do adoption wasn’t correct. This is a good time to take stock of your living situation and whether it’s changed. What were the reasons you chose adoption in the first place?

If you have additional questions about making an adoption plan for your baby or child, please call Lifetime Adoption at 1-800-923-6784.
